The result was keep. Consensus seems to be that it meets GNG regardless of the SNG. (non-admin closure) ( t · c) buidhe 11:31, 11 January 2021 (UTC) reply

  • Keep True, de Guzman does not meet the NCHESS guideline. But he easily satisfies GNG: there are dozens of hits on Google Newspapers and Google News. He was the 1981 Asian junior champion and part of three medal-winning teams for the Philippines at the Asian team championships. Now based in San Francisco, his lengthy dominance of the local chess scene has been very well documented. The article is currently in bad shape, but that's not de Guzman's fault. • Keep: The article needs some clean-up. Nonetheless, it easily passes WP:GNG with the sources indicated above. ASTIG😎 ( HAPPY NEW YEAR!) 15:00, 1 January 2021 (UTC) reply

  • Keep: WP:NCHESS provides guidelines, and indicates that there is opportunity to meet general notability guidelines as well. In this instance, Ricardo de Guzman has established notability as a Filipino chess player who has played in International tournaments as a team player and individual. A very clear history as an international chess player. -- Whiteguru ( talk) 06:48, 11 January 2021 (UTC) reply
