The so-called Technical Sciences Academy of Romania, not to be confused with the Romanian Academy, is itself of decidedly borderline notability. The few reliable sources which mention it note that it basically exists only on paper, while sucking a vast amount of public funds, even prompting one major political party to propose defunding this “pseudo-academy”.
At any rate, a members list is surely overkill. Over 90% of these names are second-rate professors from third-rate universities. Their membership does not fall under the “highly selective and prestigious scholarly society“ clause of WP:NACADEMIC, nor are they notable under any other criterion. Thus, there is no need for such a list. - Biruitorul Talk 18:41, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
There are two different issues to be discussed. The first one is the notability of the academy. The Technical Sciences Academy of Romania is a legally constituted academy. In any academy of the world there might be some more notable members than others. Ihere is no reason to consider that members of academies of developing countries, such as Bangladesh for example are more notable than the ones from countries such as Romania. There is no reason to delete the article regarding the Technical Sciences Academy of Romania. And there is no justification in recommending the deletion of the article by wikipedians who might not have the required qualifications for assessing the notability of a scientific institution. I strongly object to the recommendation of deleting the article. As far as the list of members is concerned, there are lists of members of various scientific organizations. In the case of Romania, such a list has been established for the Romanian Academy, and such lists are useful for some readers of Wikipedia. Including the list of members in the article Technical Sciences Academy of Romania would significantly lengthen the article and make it more difficult to read. What Wikipedia requires is consistency in the approach. Why would an article such as List of vice-chancellors of Sylhet Agricultural University be more relevant than the list of members of the Technical Sciences Academy. How can wikipedians objectively assess that any of these members are less notable than the chancellors of Sylhet Academy. This is just one example of similar cases where the deletion has not been suggesed. The entire discussion seems to be extremely biased. Afil
Selectively Merge to Technical Sciences Academy of Romania, unfortunately, WP:LISTN dictates that the stand-alone list topic itself must reach Wikipedia's WP:GNG standards. While the article on the Academy will pass these standards, this list article falls far short. Therefore, it should not be a stand-alone list on Wikipedia. I understand that it can be helpful to some, but the information is online elsewhere for them to find and that is not a good reason to keep it here. It is possible that one day in the future the Academy will become more notable and the list can be reinstalled, sort of like WP:Too soon. Footlessmouse ( talk) 18:35, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
Note I would recommend to the original nominator to withdraw this article and complete the steps outlined by postdlf above, you can blank and redirect the page after merging some of the content, it does not appear you will meet resistance, but this AfD is not going anywhere. Please see WP:MERGE, if the merge is not exacted to be controversial, you do not need to even start a discussion first. Footlessmouse ( talk) 19:52, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
