The result was no consensus.

The result was keep. Reviewed this close and found a stronger consensus for keep rather than no consensus.

Subject won a preliminary round in a small state then won a pageant title. If she is notable, it is only for the
WP:ONEEVENT so per
WP:NOPAGE her name and basic details are best presented on a list of winners. There is no indiction the subject went on to anything but a quiet private life so it is inappropriate to keep an entire page about an event during her high school years. Some info here is unsourced and subject to change fancruft - like only person to win from NH, physiacl derails etc.

WP:50-year rule is neither policy nor guideline, but rather an essay that contradicts long-standing policy.

I don't recall ever saying that it was policy. And it not being policy doesn't stop anybody from advancing an essay as a rationale. It's just that citing an essay is easier and neater than writing a TLDR in every AFD.
SpinningSpark 15:13, 12 February 2018 (UTC)reply
You're free to cite anything you like. I'm just pointing out that the essay you are citing runs contrary to actual policy. I feel it would be considered poor form for me to send it to MfD while this discussion is still ongoing, so I'm instead pointing out its deficiencies, and noting that it should be treated as a user-essay, not a project one.

Keep - Won a top pageant Miss Teen USA. Not some small irrelevant one. WP:GNG.

Keep, as well as keep all the articles in
Category:Miss Teen USA winners. Beauty contests at all levels and ages are a popular pastime in female America. Wikipedia has an excruciating amount of detail on popular content topics of interest to men and boys. A single appearance by a young man in a major league game is enough for an article, though he may do nothing of notice ever after. We need to stop trying to reduce the amount of female popular interest topics here.

The existence of too many bios on sportspersons is not justification for too many pageant winners. To reach a professional level of sports requires years of playing. These are short events (or at best several events deep) not careers. Playing like following GNG is sexist is not an appropriate keep argument.

Weak keep - First African-American winner of a major teen pageant is notable enough for me, per
WP:IAR if nothing else.

Delete -- there's no consensus currently that winning
Miss Teen USA 1991 satisfies
WP:ANYBIO. Significant RS coverage to meet
WP:SIGCOV not found. If such coverage exists, I would be glad to review. Merely voting "Keep" in a deletion discussion is insufficient in the absence of sources.
It's goddamn well sufficient, and the fact that I just fucking did it is proof.

Keep Notable title, and she is also the first black winner of Miss Teen USA.

Delete winning Miss Teen USA is not enough alone for notability. The coverage does not pass the real significatn covergage test, it only passes a dreamed up watered down test which would lead to an unworkably larger encyclopedia. It is time for people to spend more time on developing articles on the likes of
Rosie Berger and less on non-notable people.

Keep- Vox has an
article that describes her winning Miss Teen USA as an sort of a milestone for the pageant. If news articles talk about her 25 years after she won the title then there is evidence of lasting impact.

Keep - Major pageant winner. Also, I find it curious that the size of the state won should have any bearing on the case. Does the nominator mean to imply that winning Ohio would be more significant than New Hampshire?
After Midnight0001 21:11, 15 February 2018 (UTC)reply
Winning a pageant in a large city would be much harder than winning a small state due to competition. I don't see how winning Miss Ohio is notable either.
Legacypac (

Your logic there is even more questionable. There are only 8 US cities more populous than New Hampshire and none more populous than Ohio. --
