The result was keep. -- Cirt (

Just a single sentence cannot make an article complete

Keep The principal of a Wikipedia
stub is that while short, it could be expanded in the future. Bobtalk 19:42, 12 October 2010 (UTC)reply
Keep - Not exactly sure what the nom means by "cannot make an article complete." As Bob said, it's a valid stub. It can be expanded. When was the airport built? What's the history of the airport? What's the traffic stats? What are the airlines and destinations? Are there plans to expand it? --
Oakshade (

Speedy keep It's a currently-open airport, therefore it deserves an article. Needing improvement is not a reason to delete.
Mjroots (

Keep - Paved airports with international codes are likely all notable.
Shadowjams (

Redirect. A careful reading of the source that I added shows that it is actually about
Bellary Airport, which serves
Hampi (see under "Hampi Basics" near the bottom).

Keep per
WP:NOEFFORT. There is
no deadline to expand it from its stub status, and under no circumstances should this be deleted just because it remains a stub for a long time.

Speedy keep per Oakshade and TheCatalyst31

Comment. Could any of those calling for "keep" or "speedy keep" provide any evidence that a "Hampi Airport" exists, other than as an occasionally used name for
Bellary Airport, about which we already have an article?
Phil Bridger (
talk) 18:25, 14 October 2010 (UTC)reply
If this is the case, we can always merge it, even without an AfD.
Sebwite (
talk) 21:42, 14 October 2010 (UTC)reply
Yes, of course, but now that we're at AfD with more eyes on the subject than are ever likely to appear at the article talk page we might as well make that decision here. I would point out I am the editor who added the only substantive content to the article, but have since noticed that the source that I was using is about
Bellary Airport rather than
Hampi Airport.
Phil Bridger (
talk) 21:55, 14 October 2010 (UTC)reply
Of course, IATA and ICAO code would help establish whether or not we are talking about one or two airports.
Mjroots (

Request relist this AFD so that it runs another seven days, to allow time for resolving the issue of whether on not Hampi Airport is the same as Bellary Airport.
Mjroots (

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so a clearer consensus may be reached. Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks,

Relisting comment. There seems to be some doubt as to which airport we're talking about here so let's give this a few more days. --

Keep, seems to be an entirely valid stub about an airport in India.

Keep, just. Being a stub article is fine as long the subject is notable. An airport is notable - however there are concerns as to whether this is actually
Bellary Airport. I looked into it - google gave up little, but on
this website, both airports are listed. It seems to be an airport that nobody knows about and that only a two-bit budget operator flies to. Maybe
Ryanair should check it out. The article could benefit from someone at at an appropriate Wikiproject looking at it.

That source says that both Bellary and Hampi are served by Air Deccan, but the site that the airline itself redirects to for bookings doesn't list Hampi as a destination.

Speedy Keep: I added a chart to the Airlines/Dest making it look better. It is an airport, come on.
Tofutwitch11(TALK) 18:01, 20 October 2010 (UTC)reply
But is it an airport? I still haven't seen a reliable source saying that it is, and I have linked to two comprehensive databases above that don't list it as an airport.
Phil Bridger (
talk) 18:24, 20 October 2010 (UTC)reply
Redirect to Bellary Airport. As Phil mentions both references in the article are referring to Bellary Airport, which serves Hampi. I went hunting for evidence that a separate Hampi airport exists and came up empty. I did find
Vidyanagar Airport which is closer to Hampi than Bellary Airport is, but it's a much smaller airport.
