The Wa Self-Administered Division ( Burmese: ဝ ကိုယ်ပိုင်အုပ်ချုပ်ခွင့်ရ တိုင်း [wa̰ kòbàɪɰ̃ ʔoʊʔtɕʰoʊʔ kʰwɪ̰ɰ̃ja̰ táɪɰ̃]; Chinese: 佤自治州) is an autonomous self-administered division in Myanmar (Burma). Its official name was announced by decree on 20 August 2010. [3]
The area was declared by Myanmar's government to be self-administered by the Wa people, but is de facto administered by the self-proclaimed Wa State, under the official name Wa Special Region 2. [4] Hopang and Pan Lon were directly controlled by the Tatmadaw until their transferal to the Wa State in January 2024. [1] [5]
