You reverted an edit I made that removed a euphemism for "died". I refer you to the manual of style, which says that editors should avoid "passed away", which is not neutral. fds Talk

Hi Versace, hope you are doing fine. I know it’s a Friday night & you deserve your rest but something strange caught my attention. You see I nominated a page Sonnia Agu for deletion [ [1]] because it is non-notable as per policies then proceeded to check other articles created by the creator of that page & noticed he creates, or rather, has created a lot of non notables WP:BLP pages & somehow this pages evade scrutiny of veteran editors. I think you should investigate this. Celestina007 ( talk) 19:35, 8 November 2019 (UTC)

Congratulations on the 4 GA articles that you've added, increasing the number of WikiProject Nigeria GA articles to about 20. Its good to have editors who are concerned about just creating new articles on notable topics, but its even better when they are more concerned about the quality of the articles. You happen to fall in the latter. Keep up the good job sir! HandsomeBoy ( talk) 18:51, 18 November 2019 (UTC) |
Hi there. I'm sure I don't need to tell you this, but I will say it anyway. When you create song or album articles, even if the artist is an Afrobeats artist, that specific song or album still needs a source for it being Afrobeats as well. I'm also sure you're aware artists who've made music primarily in one genre can still make material of another genre, and one's own assessment of a genre ("it sounds like Afrobeats", "it's like all their other material" etc.) do not suffice per WP:SUBJECTIVE and WP:V. I'm sure you know far more about Afrobeats than I do, but that's not what this is about, because what I'm saying applies to any genre—for example, we don't label every album by a band we describe overall as "an alternative rock band" alternative rock by virtue of them being that sort of act overall. I'm sure most other experienced music editors will tell you this, so please find sources for these artists' specific releases being Afrobeats or whichever genre (for example, the article you created for A Good Time also had hip hop in the infobox, despite it not being sourced and there being no mention of hip hop in the prose). Just to clarify though, if a news article describes the artist specifically and not the album (e.g. "Afrobeats artist Davido"), most music editors do not consider this an acceptable assessment of that album's genre. Thanks. Ss 112 02:05, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
Hello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

Hello Versace1608,
Trust you are well.
I have been made aware that you have nominated the "Tolani Fatilewa" page for deletion and I have seen your reasons, which I would like to clear up.
Tolani Fatilewa is indeed an Afrobeat artist from Nigeria, currently in the UK and got his first recognition in 2017, when his song No Yawa was the only African song at the first edition of battle of the bands. Battle of the bands is a competition that was created by Abbey Road Studios. As a music lover, this studio is iconic and this led Tolani to be featured on the metro uk.
Tolani was raised in Abuja and has gotten all his songs on constant rotation on notable stations like wazobia, soundcity and coolfm. He has been on countdowns on coolfm Abuja, which have led to various interviews on the station.
On the 15th of December 2019, Tolani appeared on BBC introducing, a show aired on bbc3 counties radio in the UK where he discussed his career and afrobeat with OAP Eddy Adoo [2].
Tolani Fatilewa has had his music video for no Yawa, aired on trace tv, MTV base and Hiptv. He has performed at events like felabration (twice) and had tv interviews on terrestrial stations like TVC (wake up Nigeria show).
All of these are verifiable, unfortunately, in the Nigerian music industry, it would be difficult to show his chart success on radio (apart from social media links which won't be deemed credible). He is not an A-list artist and there are very few independent artists that can claim to be such, but he has certainly achieved notability in Nigeria and out of Nigeria.
As an independent artist, he works in cycles and he is scheduled to release his first EP in February of 2020 and this will generate more publicity for this cycle. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fatees ( talk • contribs) 18:53, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
Haha its a good thing you caught that Tolani Fatilewa article and appropriately nominated it for deletion. I wouldn’t want to run afoul of outing but I can tell you for a fact that half the sources used in the article are websites owned by Babcock alumni & hell even one of them were roommates with the subject of the article. Furthermore having looked closely at the name of the article creator I observed that it may be a monicker or spin off from the article subject itself as in “Tolani Fatilewa” from the last name I’d say that “Fatees” & “Fatilewa” having an eerie uncanny resemblance. Hence could be an autobiographical article. Talk about hardcore COI. Celestina007 ( talk) 10:16, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Chocolate City record label logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. It's good to see you editing again after a long three years. In case you didn't know, you were greatly missed while you were away. Welcome back, Versace and I'm looking forward to working with you again. Best, — Nnadigoodluck ███ 03:14, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
Hi Versace1608, I'm Baffle gab1978, a coordinator at the Guild of Copy Editors. I've removed your copy-edit request for Yellow (Brymo album) at the Guild of Copy Editors Requests page here. I've done this because the page currently has a limit of two requests per editor at any one time. We enforce this limit to ensure every request has a fair chance of being fulfilled in a reasonable time. If you'd like this article to be copy-edited before one of your extant requests, you're welcome to swap them over. You can re-add your latest request as soon as one of your others has been copy-edited. Thanks for your patience and understanding. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 20:53, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
