License tagging for Image:Peralta1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Peralta1.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 10:06, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Welcome

Welcome!

Hello, Speralta, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

If you have questions about an article, lease put them on the article's talk page, and not in the article itself as you did at Independent Party. I have got you started by putting a disambiguation tag in that article and creating a stub article for Independent Party of Oregon. Happy editing! Ground Zero | t 16:21, 29 June 2007 (UTC) reply

Show preview

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In the future, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thank you. Katr67 ( talk) 05:03, 2 March 2009 (UTC) reply

Edit summaries

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled " Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you.

Blocked an editor

Sal, I've blocked the anonymous editor who was working on Independent Party of Oregon for edit warring. I have chosen not to block your account, but I should note a few things that will help you avoid problems as we go forward.

I gave you a number of pointers on Wkipedia editing. You did not ask for my help, but you are on shaky ground concerning the verifiability policy, the ]]WP:NPOV|neutral point of view]] policy, and the conflict of interest guideline. I would think that you'd be interested in the guidance of those of us who have been working here for a while, and understand the practices that lead to high-quality articles better than you do.

Multiple editors, who have no vested interest in the article about your party, have given you pointers. On occasion you acknowledge the advice, but then you fail to incorporate it into your practices. The clearest example is with regard to edit summaries. You were advised to use them above by Katr67, and by me on the IPO article's talk page. You acknowledged that point, along with some others, by observing that my concerns were about "process." However since then, you made four edits to the article. In those edits, you were making changes to content that were clearly disputed in the previous edits. You did not acknowledge this in your edit summaries, and you made only a minimal mention of the fact on the talk page.

You need to change your approach. I am happy to see your desire to improve the encyclopedia, but it's imperative that you recognize that you're participating in a collaborative project, and that your connection to the organization necessitates a more nuanced approach to the material.

Hello Speralta, sorry to bother you, but what is the source of the photo File:Joel haugen.jpg? For example: photographed by you, found on a specific website, submitted to you/the IPO by the subject, etc? It's important that we have source information for all images hosted on Wikipedia. - kotra ( talk) 07:23, 10 March 2009 (UTC) reply

Chart

Hi Sal, you may have missed this on the IPO talk page -- I like the chart you made of recent registration by party. I think it would be a bit more useful if it included non-affiliated voters as well. Would you be able to add that in and re-generate the chart? Or if you don't have the time, could you email me the spreadsheet of compiled statistics (with or without NAV's), and I could finish it up? Deletion confusion

You seem to be confused about the deletion process. Would you like to nominate this for speedy deletion per: {{ db-author}}, or would you like to open an Afd? Katr67 ( talk) 18:48, 25 March 2009 (UTC) reply

File source problem with File:Ipo-logo3.png

Thank you for uploading File:Ipo-logo3.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:18, 1 May 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG ( talk) 20:18, 1 May 2010 (UTC) reply

File permission problem with File:Peralta1.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Peralta1.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{ OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{ non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Тимофей ЛееСуда. 14:23, 27 March 2012 (UTC) reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
