@ OyMosby: My friend sadko thinks listing cyrillic in the lead of the article is warranted just because his mother was serbian. He naturally wouldnt keep the same energy if the dispute didnt involve serbs in some way. I jokingly referenced that by comparing it to the jewish matronymic society. Hi, SerVasi, Pls note that subject was born in United States for such he name is Stipe Miocic. JJust as Alexander Volkanovski and Aljamain Sterling, their parents are from Greek/Macedonia and Jamaica respectively, but in the native country (Australia and United States) that would be their name legally. SerVasi, Same as Aleksandar Rakić who was born in Austria, Miocic is American for he was born in United States. His legal name is Stipe Miocic and no other. His heritage name is not legal and the pronunciation of his name is in English and not in Croatian. If the subject is Russian who was born in Russia and the page is in English Wikipedia then sourced edit of his name can be provided in Russian. Hi, First of all I am not an American but I lived in US for a long time. This is English encyclopedia and not an American encyclopedia. So how his name is pronounced in English media regardless of which media as commonly pronounced would be it. Same as many Russian and Chinese or Thai names, in English media the name is pronounced different that of their native pronunciations for in English the names have been Romanized, especially there the native languages are of toner system. @ OyMosby: I didnt completely remove the italian version did i? The dispute is about the birth name. Given that croatian was the primary language "at home" and the version of the name gundulic associated with, i highly doubt that his birth name was what the other claims.
I meant the birth name, being that he is relevant to both cultures intermixed I figured it would be a good compromise. I know this area can get controversial due to the crossovers of history at this time. Gunfulic was of Slavic ancestry I believe from what I read, but the language and writings at the time were both Italian and Croatian so figured why not put both? @ OyMosby: His importance to italy is already acknowledged in the lead with the italian version listet but at the end of the day you can only have one birth name. The stable version should be restored.

@ Serols: Could you please elaborate? The man has offically switched his primary nationality as indicated by his official appearance on the Croatia roster. I even provided a source where he was quoted saying:"I'm really happy about the call-up. It will be an honor to wear the Croatian jersey". So i don't know what alleged "vandalism" are you on about? Hello SerVasi, that's wrong , he did not change his nationality. He was born in Germany, lives there and has also played for German U21. It is correct that he also has the Croatian citizenship. Hi SerVasi, Subject is born and raised in Austria. His parents are Serbian but not him. In regardless what flag he or other fighters want to fight or represent under has nothing to do with his nationality. Heritage or ethnicity does not equal to citizenship. Hi SerVasi, UFC is considered not an independent source for the subject has a connection/affiliation with UFC and btw UFC stats the hometown is Serbia - whatever it means but not the his citizenship or nationality. Here are the sources that stated he is an Austrian. -1, -2, [2], -4, -6, -8, -9, -10, -11, -12, -13, -14, -15, -16, -17, -18, 19, -20, -21, -22 just to name some. The point here is that he is born and raised in Austria with Serbian heritage but not a Serbian citizen. @ Cassiopeia: Do you even know how European nationality laws work? Simply being born in the country is not enough. You still have to go through the naturalisation process. Legally he should have had the Serbian citizenship even before the Austrian one. And im not denying that hes Austrian but he clearly and oficially declared who he wants to represent. I don't see any source that would be more credible than the UFC itself. Half of them couldn't tell a Serb and a Russian apart so they just go with the birth country. And just so u don't say i didn't provide any a, b, c, d, e.

The subject is born and raised in Austria that would means he is Austria - that at is his nationality which he has the citizenship. Serb can be his ethnicity. Austrian can not be an ethnicity. SerVasi, Utube is not a reliable source and UFC is a questinalbe source as no fact checking is in place since Mr.White would say what he wants, announced fight which the fighters have not signed the contract or not even know the that is such as fight. UFC is a promotional company not like guardian newspaper. We do take a few information from UFC when we can find them anywhere else such as reach and stand in UFC stats web site. Giga is a very well known fighter, and you can find information about him in many other mma channel, such as in MMA Junkie, MMA fighting, MMA Mania, Combat, Cagesides Press. Viking, MMA PL and etc besides all the major newspapers in the world. Pls note that I am not against you but to inform you about Wikipedia guidelines and once you understand the basic guidelines then you would be much easier for you to edit. Hi SerVasi, Pls read the message above. You are welcome to add back the local name provided if you can add the source (inline citation) to support the claim. Sources can be in any languages as long as they are independent and reliable - see - Islam Makhachev for example. I am not against you nor any Russian fighters, but I am one of the counter vandalism and new page trainers in Wikipedia - thus I knwo what is vandalism and unsourced are and verification is in Wikipedia. The point here is that this is Wikipedia is all about verification (a core policy of Wikipedia) from independent, reliable source. The editor who added or changed the info need to provide the source to support the claim - see WP:PROVEIT and WP:BURDEN. We are both anonymous editors and so are almost all the editors in Wikipedia and we are considered not reputable reliable source such as those from the major newspaper - pls see WP:RS.
