Hi, and welcome to the Novels WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to fiction books often referred to as "Novels".
A few features that you might find helpful:

Hey Scrawlspacer, good to hear from you, and I'm glad we've got someone who knows what they're talking about on board. The style I use here is from Wikipedia:Citing sources/example style. I believe it's based on the APA style. As far as I know, no particular style is favored over another, but it's generally best not to replace one style with another if someone has already formatted it according to one. That is, as long as the style is consistent within the article; if not, then just go ahead and pick one to make it consistent.
I can understand your frustration in getting reverted, especially if people are being unfriendly about it. When I was a newbie I had some experiences that nearly put me off of the project. A good solution may be bringing up your intentions on the talk page before making major edits, so that others can see what it is you want to do. Hi, I keep track of references to the Epic disambiguation page, so you might want to review where you want Epic to link to. Since you are in the middle of editing, I'll leave it to you. Normally, I would either pipe the link to Epic poetry or unlink it (implying the dictionary meaning), depending on how well the article applies. You're doing some great work on the Herman Melville article, so keep it up! Might I suggest an author navigation box to cut out the lengthy bibliography section? - Okay, I thought I'd give it a try myself. Let me know what you think: Template:Herman Melville. We can add it the bottom of all the articles for his books, stories, etc. as well as to Melville's main article. That'll allow us to take out the huge bibliography chunk. The template loses a little information (such as links to full text) but that would be rectified once we get articles on each of these works... I think that's the ultimate idea with these nav-boxes. Whilst I agree that the History section is patchy, I'm afraid that I don't think the edits you made improved it. You sugest adding more information, but you have remoced important information such as the the origin of the name of Sale, and the finds of Roman coins and a neolithic arrow head; toponomy is a required element of WP:UKCITIES and surely the ancient finds are notable. I think that some of the 'choppyness' results from an attempt to include too much unimportant information, some text does need to be pruned from the section - for instance that Sale Old Hall's dovecote survives is worth noting, but it's use isn't especially, and perhaps the material on who owned Sale, such as the de Sales and de Carringtons.
The dead reference occured between your edits ( see here). Also I'm concerned that your rephrasal of some sentences may be slightly misleading, ie:"solely a farming community", there is no such thing, there is always some form of trade. As such I would like your permission to revert you edits to the history section and I'll have a go at addressing the issues. Nev1 13:59, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your exhaustive, thought provoking and well balanced comment.
Your text appears somewhat lengthy, but it is dense and very well structured. People tend to browse long comments too superficially, and your comment deserves more attention. I added paragraph titles to make it more appealing, and to more easily refer to specific parts of your comment in my answer. If you don't like the titles, please just edit or remove them or ask me to remove them and I will do it.
In your text, I substituted "strikethrough option" with " strikethrough formatting option" (notice that I included an internal link), because I think that not everybody knows the meaning of the word "strikethrough" (I didn't).

Hi, I am participating to the Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikify/Drives of December 2010 and one of the articles I've "wikified" is: Arnold Resnicoff. I added many wlinks and improved its layout. So, I removed the {{ wikify}} template placed on top of that page. Obviously I read the entire article many times. Then I visited its talk page to ask you (the editor who placed it) the reason why it is NOT {{ NPOV}} and which lines ot parts of the article are NOT NPOV. But, when I read your statement about it: "I don't think I've ever seen an article so obviously written by its subject.... The article needs heavy editing..." I decided to write a message here on your talk page. I don't know the subject of that article nor am I connected with him or with other persons or "circles" close to him in any way. I think that the greatest part of it (about 95% or more) is well sourced and well written. One section (Military chaplaincy) should probably be rewritten because it is a bit too long (I tried to divide it in subsections, but I have not done it yet) and it also repeats the same content for 2 times. There are a couple of lines that maybe were not NPOV, but I think that I've fixed all of those points. It needs a {{ Infobox person}} but I'm not sure which one to use (military, religious, or general???). Do you think that there is a chance to solve this dispute and find a solution that works fine for Wikipedia? Many thanks for your edits and kind words on Bulkington. Your fresh eye caught many mistakes, and put the article in better shape. I hope you will work over more pages in the Melville group.
I do wonder if it was necessary on the Talk Page to be quite so sharp, as implied by "someone's haste" and "egregious error," especially since the "need" for renaming does not appear to be well-based. WP:Assume good faith reinforces my gratitude for your corrections but also suggests taking a charitable attitude toward them.
BTW, though in this case I think that the effort to rename all the articles and the links on many pages would be better applied to improving them, the way to rename a page is to move it, using the new name: Wikipedia:Moving a page.

Hey – just wanted to pop in and say thanks for adding italics to the article Kagura.
I don't want this to seem like a shitty back-handed compliment, but if you come across an article with a ton of unitalicised foreign language content in the future, could you slap it in a {{ lang}} or {{ transliteration}} template? Italics visually mark up that something isn't English, but these templates make sure they're pronounced correctly if someone's using a screenreader – like my satnav butchering the name 'Calais', if they're not used, foreign language text is read out like it's English.
