However, this was not possible, because the title List of awards and nominations received by 5 Seconds of Summer contains a redirect on the band's article and the page has been protected by you... • UltraRainbows, JJMC89 is right - per the AfD it should have been in the artist's page already, so one of the first things you need to do is open up a discussion on the band's talk page to discuss whether or not the list is long enough to justify its own page at this point in time. One of the things that will work against the separate page is that the band's page isn't all that long, so while the list has multiple nominations and awards, it's not so long that it would overwhelm the page if it were merged back in. • I have to ask - do you have any WP:COI? If you are affiliated with Archer and/or were asked by him or one of his representatives to restore or create the page, then this will need to be disclosed. I'm a little concerned since you have no edit history on Wikipedia and cleaning out the promotional tones can be difficult for newer users. I am not directly within Archer's organization but I represent an agency which handles various projects for Thrive & I was tasked with restoring/improving the page he previously had established.

We can discuss via phone/email if you prefer for confirmation of various parties.

If this relationship to Archer creates a conflict for the article I would appreciate any policy details you can provide on the subject, even if that's just a link.

Currently, I am not fluent with Wikipedia editing etc. though I'd be happy to take any necessary steps to learn & I do understand that this could be quite an undertaking.

This is a pressing task & it would be preferable if it can be resolved sooner, however I do entirely understand that a policy conflict (due to the nature of Wikipedia) could hold this up & I have no qualms, but would appreciate any available official documentation on the policy in reference.

If the page cannot be renewed via anyone associated with Archer, can we at the very least obtain a .pdf or something else that shows the info that was previously present, such as the linked news media sources & text?

If this must be held up due to a new user, is there a timetable or estimated knowledge/experience expectation?

• You can read over everything you need at WP:COI. I'll post a message about this on your talk page. You should also change your username, as it looks like it's named after your business. I can send you a copy of the article, but the main requirements are that it must have the promotional content cleaned up, it must have better sourcing per WP:RS, and you can only submit it via WP:AfC. AfC is the Articles for Creation process and what this means is that another, unaffiliated editor will look over the page and decide if it's ready to go live. If it's declined then you will be given another chance to fix any problems and resubmit it once more. The only time these pages get deleted is usually if something is very, very promotional, has copyright in the article, or the draft is not edited for six months. • 2ndpersona It was deleted because it was written in a promotional style. Here's an example of what came across as promotional:

You can do this, but I must warn you that it would still need to be substantially re-written in order to make it more neutral.

My recommendation is that you start a new, fresh article from scratch in the Articles for Creation process. This is a proces where people can make articles and have them reviewed by an independent editor, who will either accept the article and move it live or they will decline it and you can try to improve the article and resubmit it. A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

I did work on it ( here). It's a work in progress. Obviously, I can't do everything on my own, so I'm hoping when the article is restored, there can be more users who can work collaboratively in making it better. So I think it's worth another shot. Lots of things have changed since August 1, and the Wikipedia community should be able to reassess the article at least one more time since that date. • There's really not a huge reason to delete the page, honestly. We typically only delete those upon the user's own request or unless the page has content on it that would violate guidelines, like doxing or harassment. I am curious as to why you're asking about the userpage of a blocked user and why you tagged the userpage of both NOOO KEVIN!! and Yay Dad. (The speedy deletion tags were removed by Safiel.) Hello Tokyogirl79, how are you? First of all, nice choice, I grew up listening to Ace of Base. I just wanted to make a note in regards to the page of Gianni Nunnari. I was fortunate enough to meet him and create a mild level of friendship with the guy. I read some of the comments and talks in regards to his page in the past, and I agree with you when you say even negative facts must be shown. But, this page on him does not reflect at all what he represents. First of all, the lawsuit has been settled for over a year. In his wiki page it seems it's still an ongoing thing, that can hurt his business, don't you agree with me? This guy has made over $2 billion dollars at the box office, and there is no mention of that. He developed some of the greatest success in Hollywood, also, barely any mention of that. I go in some other producers on wikipedia, and there are dozens of lines "promoting" there successful career (half of the success Gianni had) and barely any negative facts. Gianni's page consists of 6 total lines, where one is purely a biography and 4 are about the lawsuits. May I ask why is that? There are 54k articles on Google about Gianni, where only 2k talks about the lawsuit and nearly half estates it was settle. How come that does not reflect on wikipedia? I'm just trying to understand how this work and since I noticed you are "assigned" as his page editor, thought you could be the best to answer. Thanks for the time and I hope you have a happy thanksgiving. Hi Tokyogirl, thanks for sorting out the whole CommanderShinzon problem. Had no clue (s)he was completely fabricating this whole extra world around Constructus. I think (s)he was just a fan who was a bit crazy (not that I'm excusing their behaviour). However, I'd like to discuss your to the Constructus article. I can testify (with my somewhat good knowledge) that a lot of that article can be saved. The Ziggurat was legitimately a artbook and CD, I've tried to buy it on Discogs. I can dig around for some extra sources but basically what needs to be said is that the only album released or created by Constructus is The Ziggurat. • @ Daylon124: Sorry for the late reply - we're going through finals at my college so I've been immersed in that for the most part. If you want to take it on, feel free to work on it. It wouldn't be notable because it was their only album, but hopefully there will be some sourcing on it. I have a feeling that digging will likely take a while, though, so it might be good to keep a copy of it in your userspace to tweak as needed. One of my main worries with the article though, is that it may have content in it that wasn't real, given that CommanderShinzon was making up stuff left and right. Thanks for taking a look. That editor was softblocked for his username, so he can resume editing fairly easily using the same account if he chooses to do so. I asked about him at WT:BOXING#Tarick Salmaci and apparently he satisfies WP:NBOX, so there's no problem with an article being written about him. The problem is that the editor doesn't seem to understand WP:NOT and might feel it's more of profile page than an encyclopedic article. FWIW, I have been trying all kinds of keyword combinations to find addition sources about him, particularly his acting career, but all I'm getting are IMDb pages and social media stuff that's not really too helpful. There's also a claim about being signed to a championship bout against Joe Calzaghe (who appears to be very well covered by not only the boxing press, but also the generel press as well) and this is briefly mentioned in Joe Calzaghe#WBO super-middleweight champion with this cited in support, but the Salmaci article claims something completely different. Anyway, I was going to start removing some of the unsourced stuff per WP:BLPSOURCES and leave a note on the talk page that it could be re-added if reliable sources are found in support. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 12:03, 2 December 2016 (UTC)

AFAICS, there is already an embedded list at Mother Goose. It may not be complete, but unless it expands significantly I don't see any need to break it out from the main article.

As to a category, there are several similar categories at Category:Works based on fairy tales, such as Category:Works based on Beauty and the Beast.

I don't see any problem in principle with a Category:Works based on Mother Goose, provided that it has a useful size. The guideline at WP:SMALLCAT isn't a fixed minimum threshold, but in my experience 5 articles is usually regarded as the minimum viable size for a category.

I saw that some months back you gave page protection to the Seasick Steve page regarding a new biography. . Though i do not do much editing anymore (I found out that I was not really cut out for it) but still enjoy reading articles, mostly on bands and artist on Wikipedia. There are a number of pages which I return to and one of those is the Seasick Steve page which I was at a few days afo. I saw to my suprise that someone had put a new section in the main article about an unauthorised biography with the name of the book and the authors name . I couldn't really see how an unauthorised biography could warrant its on section on the main page of an artist. I went to the talk page and saw there was much discussion about it, some pretty contentious. What bothers me is that this seems to be pretty blantant advertising of an unauthorised biography on a internationally known artists Wikipedia page which is currently for sale. I don't know if this was done by the author or people associated with the author but to me the bottom line is, it is still advertising. The only rwo references for the book are The Arts Desk which was written by the author himself where he apparently works and the other just a blog by musician from another band in the Gaurdian. It all seemed a little suspect to me but my main concern is the obvious advertising of this book. I was wondering if you could have a look at the page and see if you agree. • If I remember correctly, this came about as a result of this AfD. There were sources out there in another language ( [2], [3], [4], [5]), but they weren't seen as enough to really justify an article for the author or the book. There was also this, but it's questionable whether or not that'd be considered a RS on here for the book. The main thing is that the claims in this section are supposed to be stressed as just claims and not facts, which is a major bone of contention here. Thanks very much for all the info and your time. I also could not find anything about the author before this book at all. The book appears to have been created just for its sensational effect and to attempt to make money on the back of the artist. I have now taking the time to read this book. It was void of almost any references at all. It is just full of seemingly wild speculation and conjecture. More of a novel, in my opinion. The only personal reference with any historical information is the subjects 'estranged son' by the authors admission,(who has for a number of years been attemping to advertise his own band within the article) with a very obvious large bone to pick, which he does exactly that, with what reads like, the authors coaching and seems pretty unreliable, The author did not interview one other person who knew Seasick Steve before the 2000's and yet that is the period the book covers. There seems to be a number of editors bent on rewriting the article based on this unauthorised biography which has so little actual reliable content. I would hope that could not happen and negate the innumerable recognised quality references from which the article was created.

However, my main concern is that it meets Wikipedia guidlines, which it apparently does. I really appreciate your clear explanation. All the best Aircastle ( talk) 10:07, 6 December 2016 (UTC)

The information is not inaccurate per se, but I am wondering about the citing of Japan Today. JT is basically a news aggregator which does not really generate much of it's own content, and it also publishes lots of PR/fluff/tabloid stuff as well. I wouldn't put it in the same class as The Japan Times or any of the other more established English dailies published in Japan, so it's not clear how reliable it is considered to be for Wikipedia. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 10:59, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

I saw your ping at WP:REFUND. I'm happy to have the article userfied, but I'm not sure of the best way to do it. • Joyous!: It's pretty much a case of just restoring the article and moving it to the userspace. Here's the steps I usually take:

1. Restore the article as normal.
2. Move the article to its desired target, in this case User:Davidgoodheart/Afterburner (Transformers)
3. Remove the AfD tags and de-wiki anything that would put it in a category. You can do this by putting : in front of the categories, but I usually like to just use <nowiki>Insert non-formatted text here</nowiki>, since that's a good catch all for anything below the reference or external links section header that isn't an external link or reference tag.
4. If the user isn't already talking to someone, just let them know what they will need to do in order to make the article acceptable for the mainspace. This part is pretty key, since sometimes they'll be newer to the establishing notability part, so this might save them some time and energy. In this case they'd have to show independent RS to establish notability and work on eliminating some of the fancruft.

• I'm not going to contact a gmail account to verify whether or not an organization exists in this situation. There is no trace of this organization on the Internet other than a fictional biker gang that was created as part of a video game. None of the sources that were in the page back up the existence of this gang. I can't even find mention of the gang in this source, using the Wayback Machine. If this really was a gang that was considered to be an organized crime syndicate, there would be some sort of record of them somewhere or a mention here and there in the news. Now even if this was a real organization, the complete lack of coverage in RS shows that it's not one that would be notable per Wikipedia's guidelines. • I didn't, it was deleted by Jimfbleak as a promotional article. I did, however, change the tags beforehand to add that it looked like you had taken part of the material from another site. What made it especially promotional was the addition of the director profiles, which were taken from the profiles on a news website. That's why it's usually not a good idea to take content from somewhere else, as in most cases it's written to promote something and would need a complete re-write in order to fit WP:NPOV guidelines. Thank for your restoring this page to my sandbox. The reason I waited several months before updating and re-submitting is to allow time for more secondary sources to accrue. As I understood the original rejection, it was rejected on the grounds that there were insufficient secondary sources.

Cats on the internet is a large phenomenon that is already addressed on Wikipedia. There are several precedents of internet celebrities on Wikipedia that are cats, e.g. Grumpy Cat, Lil bub, Maru, and Colonel Meow. The latter has 317k followers, while Artemis & Apollo have 105k followers and therefore are arguably in the same category. I therefore do not see why you and User:Anarchyte appear to have an absolute objection to an article on Artemis & Apollo.

I strongly disagree that Instagram is not a valid source for phenomena occurring within Instagram. Instagram is a part of the real world, it is a significant thing in its own right, and the most authoritative source of information about what is happening in Instagram is Instagram. I am at a loss to understand how this simple logic can be disputed. Nevertheless, I gather that there is a policy that on Wikipedia Notability requires secondary sources, and I shall endeavour to meet that requirement before re-submitting. I shall also study your articles on Notability before re-submitting.

If the article is rejected again, then I shall raise this is a general issue in the Forum, as it seems to me to be a flawed policy not to regard objectively measurable data on internet (e.g. the number of followers of an Instagram page) as a reliable source of information about that part of the internet. (E.g., if I look at Grumpy Cat's Instagram page and see that he has 2 million followers, and then I read in a published secondary source, Marie Claire magazine, that he has only 173,172 followers, then Wikipedia's policy is to regard that the latter as more authoritative than the former? This seems mistaken to me.)

• Instagram is considered to be social media and social media postings and popularity are not considered to be something that would establish notability on Wikipedia. The reason why followers cannot be judged is because you can purchase followers. I'm not saying that the owners of the cats' account(s) do, but it's common enough that popularity by itself does not give notability. ( WP:ITSPOPULAR) Now popularity can make it easier for something to gain coverage, but it's not a guarantee. Basically what this means is that being popular can make it more likely that news and media outlets will write or otherwise cover the cats and/or their followers, as they want to put out articles that people would be likely to read. This isn't a guarantee of coverage, as there are a lot of popular people on social media outlets and there are only so many media outlets that would be willing to cover something like this and would be considered a notability giving reliable source on Wikipedia.

Now as far as the GrumpyCat follower counts go, the thing with news articles is to look at when they were written - the Marie Claire article was written in April 2014 and that follower count was likely accurate at the time. The article doesn't take into account that later that same year Lifetime aired a GrumpyCat Christmas movie, which undoubtedly raised the follower counts, as well as how much the follower count would have risen in two years' time. In other words, it wouldn't be an accurate way to show the follower count now, but it would be a good, accurate way to show what the count was then.

Unless you can provide coverage in independent, reliable sources like news articles then it is extremely unlikely that the article will be accepted. You can try to alter the rules on this, but it's unlikely to succeed at this point in time, if ever. It'd be nice if we could have very large amounts of online followers show notability on here, but because people can (and have) purchased large online followings this is unlikely to ever come into effect on here and as such, ruins it for the others that don't buy their followers.
