My dear Sharon, what can I say?
I cannot think of any proper words to tell you how grateful I am, dear, you are SO kind and special. Never in my wildest dreams had I thought I would one day receive such a wonderful gift. Your meaningful poem has enlightened my day and touched my heart deeply, I will never forget it! Thank you so so so much, Sharon. I wish you have a most fabulous weekend, too, and I hope you have all the joy in this world, for you truly are an angel with a beautiful heart. May God bless you.

Magic template!

Hey. I've just automagically customised your Awesome Wikipedian notice, to make it easier for you to post on the talk pages of the recipients. For example:

{{subst:User:Phaedriel/Today|name=Jimbo Wales|nickname=Jimmy}}

will yield:

Happy Jimmy's Day!

Jimbo Wales has been identified as an Awesome Wikipedian,
and therefore, I've officially declared today as Jimmy's day!
For being such a beautiful person and great Wikipedian,
enjoy being the Star of the day, dear Jimmy!

Love,
Will ( We're flying the flag all over the world) 02:16, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

A record of your Day will always be kept here.

Of course, with your sig and a level two header. Love, Will ( We're flying the flag all over the world) 02:16, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

When I first saw this, I thought the Jimbo was the next recipient! Maybe that's not too bad of an idea? -- rogerd 02:38, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
I've just changed it so the name parameter is redundant, so all you need is the nickname if you wish (I forgot about {{PAGENAME}}). Will ( We're flying the flag all over the world) 09:21, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Re: Happy Aero's Day!

Wow, what a totally unexpected and lovely surprise to find when checking my messages on this cold and wet Bank Holiday Monday morning! You are truly a wonderful person, Phaedriel, and it's a pleasure to know that you're somewhere out there spreading joy and enchantment with your words and deeds. I hope that you have a wonderful week! (aeropagitica) 07:58, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

You just made me cry - that is such a sweet thing to say, thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm so glad that you're back with us, spreading love and helping those in need. It's people like you who take a moment to stop the world in order to say something special that makes all the hard work and thankless slogging worthwhile. So kind, xxx. (aeropagitica) 09:19, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

!

Oh my! Thank you so much, Phaedriel! Unfortunately we did not have much interaction before you took your break (and had your beautiful daughter!) but I have heard so many lovely things about you from Kyoko and Riana, and I see you around Spring's talkpage all the time. I would be honoured if in the future I could get to know you better; I can't think of a nicer, kinder person out there :)

Give your daughter a hug and kiss on the cheek for me, and I'm sending a hug to you too! Thank you again, you certainly cheered up my day    ^_^    — Editor at Large (speak) 15:50, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Argh, I did it again. I had a very long flowery message all written up for you, and then I guess I must have not saved it - and lost it when my browser crashed a few days ago. I am so terrible for that... well. A message is (again) in the works, never fear; I haven't forgotten you! Editor at Large (speak) 04:46, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Aw :) Well, I had written an on-wiki response to the message you had left me and then didn't save it and firefox crashed so it got lost. I honestly by now can't remember what I wrote so I'll start again!
I certainly don't mind in the least if you come visit me. My talk page and e-mail and, hey, if you're in Ottawa my house! are always open and eager to hear from you. Thank you for saying so, but I hardly think I am one of the sweetest wikipedians - you and Kyoko and Riana and $pring and a few others I know are far higher on the list than I! However I must say I share what you quote on your userpage, "Discourtesy is - unspeakably ugly to me". There is certainly no point in being grumpy and rude when a grain of courtesy grows a meadow of kindness everyone can share in. It's up to every one of us to be the winds that blow the seeds about to spread the love - and I must say you are the strongest wind of us all :)
"hey Shazza, what's up" is not quite my style, I regret to say (funny mental image there.. and no I don't wear baseball caps!), but I will keep in mind that you don't need a long message always. After all, even leaving a simple heart symbol and signing gives people the orange "more wikilove" bar and lets them know you thought of them. However this time you are lucky and got a nice long message instead :)
There we go, I managed to write it up and the browser didn't crash. So now I will click "save" and hopefully it will not get lost in cyberspace! Love, -- Editor at Largetalk 19:47, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for the message. I looked and found one that describes you, pure gold and a pleasure to know. Dakota

"Being indian"

Please clean this up so that it isn't just a rant attacking Christians, Whites, and the US government. Wikipedia is not a soapbox. Statements like "It is having a Christian missionary tell you it is wrong to believe in more than one Divine Being, then listen to him tell you about God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost, the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, St. Patrick, St. Christopher, St. Francis, etc." and "It is feeling the stares of all the whites in any public place you walk into." are inappropriate. Thank you.-- 70.243.82.59 20:23, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm truly sorry you dislike the contents of that section at my userpage. However, I have serious counter objections to your statement. First it, is not a "rant" against anyone; in that case, many points of it allude to certain negative aspects of Native American themselves which you conveniently ignored in your message above. Those points mention certain negative and regrettable, specific attitudes of American society as a whole, including Native Americans, observed from the perspective of an individual. Unlike you, I have felt the disapproving stares of certain white individuals while I walk into an exclusive store, or the lobby of a five-star hotel. I still do. And I have been dubbed a traitoress by other close minded native american people because I joined the "whites'" way of life. And most definitely I have been, and continue to mocked and called "Pocahontas" by some who believe it's funny. That section is no soapboxing in any way whatsoever. It is but a collection of personal thoughts and experiences of the dark, and often hidden aspects of White and Native American hypocrisy, that make many of us live in a constant identity crisis.
I truly am struggling to assume good faith on your part, I really am, so I'll hold myself from making comments on the fact that you removed that section from my userpage without even bothering to approach me, and only did so when reverted and suggested to do so; nor that you chose to post anonymously when you obviously are well versed in our policies. So I'll just limit myself to say that my attitude towards every fellow editor, and every human being in general are extremely far from any form of racism, and I try hard everyday to make them speak for myself. And if you mistake simple everyday experiences that make me sad for soapboxing, then it's because you simply don't know me. Regards, Phaedriel - 20:51, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Hello, if I might add some more to this discussion? Sharon, you can remove this message if you feel it is inappropriate. I have some passing familiarity with how Native Americans were treated in the US, thanks to both documentaries and travels throughout the country. The injustices listed in the list on Phaedriel's page really did occur. Under both Spanish and American rule, many Native Americans were forced to convert to Christianity, or at the very least, no longer allowed to practice their religion. Furthermore, many were not allowed to speak their native language. Many Native Americans were forced to relocate to reservations as well. Unfortunately similar injustices also took place in Canada. -- Kyok o 21:13, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Or maybe I'm just a legit editor who was offended by the content of the page. Though now that I've read Phaedriel's explanation, it isn't as offensive. Though I can see people taking it the wrong way. Perhaps Phaedriel should explain her intent more.-- 70.129.201.203 22:15, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure what's more sad... the fact that this came up this way, or the fact that everything on that essay is true. In fact, it's very clear which is more sad. Until we as a culture serve tribes (who are, after all, PEOPLE) better we have failed. That's the sad one. Phaedriel, I'm sorry you had to be sujected to this on your userpage. poem by C. Brontë about A. Brontë's death

Hi Sharon, I noticed your tribute to Anne Brontë, and I thought I would bring this poem to your attention. It's by Anne's sister Charlotte. It is a very mournful poem. -- Kyok o 17:25, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

On the Death of Anne Brontë

There's little joy in life for me,
And little terror in the grave;
I've lived the parting hour to see
Of one I would have died to save.

Calmly to watch the falling breath,
Wishing each sigh might be the last;
Longing to see the shade of death
O'er those beloved features cast.

The cloud, the stillness that must part
The darling of my life from me;
And then to thank God from my heart,
To thank Him well and fervently;

Although I knew that we had lost
The hope and glory of our life;
And now, benighted, tempest-tossed,
Must bear alone the weary strife.

Hi. I oppose the full protection of Msnbc.com. The "vandalism" that the two users were reverting wasn't vandalism. It was a good faith edit by a new user for which MOS style complaints (mentioned on the user's talk page) aren't a valid reason for editing and "getting an article good before posting" (paraphrase of comment on talk page as well) isn't anything like Wikipedia. While I agree the article needed work, references, and MOS and other improvements, the "edit war" could have been much better resolved by the "experienced" users talking to the user on the talk page or on their user page rather than protection and reverting with little (and harsh) comments. I left a note on one of the two's talk page about WP:BITE. Could you please unprotect the page (I realize it's only a day, but I don't think it should have been done at all) and restore the article that was there? Thank you for your time. About the Brontës

Dear Sharon (or do you prefer Phaedriel on-wiki? I forget), I'm glad that you appreciated the poem. Your message reminded me of a documentary I once saw on TV about the Brontës. I think it was on the History Channel. I don't remember much from the show, but among other things, it discussed how one sibling's difficulties would be reflected in the writings of another. I wish I could remember more of what was said. I have to confess my ignorance of Anne's novels; I know they exist, but I just haven't read them. -- Kyok o 15:36, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Dear Phaedriel, I got your mail and I will reply when I can. I'm still trying to figure out what my next big project will be. I got a bit tired dealing with The Lais of Marie de France. I might end up working on the Roman de la Rose after all, though it will take a bit of work. I've never read the whole thing before, so that has to be done first. If you look at the article, you can see that I've done a little bit on it, not much so far. For bigger projects where most of the work is from scratch, I tend to compose my text offline. I stand slack-jawed. An openly disruptive, malicious individual like JVM is indulged and cossetted, I get obscenities screeched at me. Business as usual Ben-w 18:47, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

  • I'm sorry, but JVM's list of offenses is a mile long and it takes only a cursory glance at them to realize that unblocking him was an extremely foolish move. The consensus on the talk page certainly did not look like it supported unblocking him. He has been extremely disruptive, tried to make up fake policies about "financial contributors", and created a firestorm of controversy everywhere he goes, sapping the time and effort of contributors which could be far better spent elsewhere. The consensus was almost universal that maintaining the indefinite block on him was the right thing to do, but, instead, we roll over and give him a one-more-final-twentieth-positively-last-chance which he has done absolutely nothing to earn. For pointing this out, I get told to "fuck off" and we all waste more time and energy on this malignant troll. It's ridiculous. It's absurd. A sane, clear-eyed look at the evidence reveals exactly what sort of individual JVM is and why unblocking him was an absolutely indefensible decision. Ben-w 19:07, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi

Phaedriel, I really appreciate your message at my talk page. Would you mind if we talk some more about this whole thing? I don't feel like I've talked with anyone yet who seemed calm and reasonable about the incident, and I really would like to talk about the actual edit dispute that I had that led to a harassment charge. Everything became highly inflamed after Bishonen's harassment accusation, and I want to focus on what happened before that. I still cannot comprehend how anyone could think that I was harassing KC prior to Bishonen's harassment allegation. And I do not understand how KC could think that she was being a responsible editor during this edit dispute. I feel like this whole thing has been a personal attack, and being accused of harassment is no fun. Anyway, I guess I've made myself a bit "toxic" so I won't be surprised if you decline. But still, it would be nice to talk to someone about the actual edit dispute, i.e. what happened before and leading up to the harassment accusation. I really think KC behaved very badly, and that I did not harass anyone, but I have been wrong before. Ferrylodge 02:11, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Hey there

Hey there, pretty lady. I have a question.

I saw, earlier, that you were involved in socks checking (or something like that).

I just saw a report on AN3RR which looks somewhat fishy.

A series of edits were made to an article by 75.49.39.164 which resulted in reverts. Then a new account User:Starfish2 made virtually the same edit. Followed by similar edits by User:Migospia.

I'm AGF and all that, but there seems to be a history here, with the involved users. Is there any chance the anon IP, new user, and Migospia are related?

(I'm not involved in any of this)

Lsi john 00:28, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

It might be worth looking into. It's just a thought I had, when I saw the 3RR and then saw them complain about one being involved with the other being blocked.. etc etc.. If its easy to check, its probably worth checking, if not then don't. Its the last (double) post on AN3RR. My interest is that the right outcome happen. If s/he was revert warring, then fine. If s/he was setup, then that should be noted. (and you can reply here, it helps keep the conversations together). We'll find other excuses for you to post on my page! :)
Lsi john 00:39, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Heh, you busted Seraphimblade. Don't hide behind me! I saw it but I wasn't gona fix it for him. heh. Peace! Lsi john 01:01, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
btw, I fixed the report 'form' at the bottom of AN3RR, but didnt know how to put the ~~~~ in without it converting to a date. Tkx.. Back to work for me.. I just needed another excuse to post here. :) hehe. Lsi john 01:04, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Actually, I had the same thought, but I happen to know User:Migospia's IP from an autoblock she was under earlier today, and there is no obvious link between that and 75.49.39.164. Of course, that doesn't rule it out, but makes it less likely, I would suggest. Rockpocke t 01:27, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia has exceptions for violations which is wrong

It should state that wikipedia considers admins higher priority than other users as well as the admins can get away with pretty much anything and if you are friends with an admin the same goes-- Migospia☆ 01:40, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

(ed conf) There is no such a thing as "higher priority," Migospia. If at all, admins are held to higher standards. If you have any concerns about a user, you can always ask for help by placing the {{ helpme}} template in your talk page. ≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 01:44, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Migospia☆ you're like.. um.. way off base here, and out of line.
I don't know ANY of the people editing that article and nobody is protecting anyone. Don't bring hate and anger to this admin's page, its not fair to her. Lsi john 01:43, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
(e/c)I'm sorry that you think that way, Migospia, and I understand that you say that in a momet of frustration; but the truth is, I had never, ever met Kellen prior to this incident. I analyzed the information to the best of my abilities, and I came to that conclusion - period, no further motives involved whatsoever. My humble suggestion to you is, relax, take a little perspective, and although I know discussing with other users may be stressing sometimes, it is also an excellent way to learn and enjoy. But please, don't see ghosts where there are none. Life is too short - enjoy your time here, don't turn it into another source of bitterness. Tell you what: if you want me to try and facilitate dialog between those involved in the article, I gladly volunteer myself for any help I can provide. K, dear? Phaedriel - 01:46, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

hmm I get blocked for 24 hours out of nowhere to me under false grounds, and when some else of apparent higher standards violates a rule it is nothing, no block nothing, so of course it is a little hard to *calm down*, believe me I am keeping pretty cool about this. Believe me of all people I know life is to short, but it is hard to enjoy my time here when Wikipedia is full of hate, misjudgment, personal attacks, accusations, hypocrites, selective blocking and selective violation of rules, etc, it really upsets me and I do not need to be gained up on like this for doing little little wrong-- Migospia☆ 02:44, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

In my opinion, you are out of line Phaedriel. Take a look at the Veganism article's history. Take notice off how the user who was reported for 3RR consistently plants POV in the form of repetitous argumentation in the health concerns section. For example, would you block a user for planting, 3 times, allegations of alcoholism in the George W Bush article? Yes? Why is the B12 allegation in the veganism article any different? Abe Froman 04:13, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
No, I wouldn't block anyone who "plants" 100 well-sourced allegations, and from my modest perspective, Kellen's actions didn't constitute breach of 3RR. Furthermore, I see at the History that Kellen repeatedly invited to discussion and was reverted without comment, nor attempts to engage in dialog. Then again, I'm human, and therefore fallible. If you wish to question my judgement as admin and ask for other administrators to review my actions, please do so at the proper venue. I'll gladly accept the reversion of my decision if they believe me to be wrong. Phaedriel - 04:29, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Questionable judgement

Phaedriel, I never thought I would ever say this to you, but you have displayed questionable judgement in this matter. You are far too kind and generous - I am sure there are many Wikipedians more deserving than I. Being the greedy little puppy I am though, I'm just going to take the undeserved accolades and give you a virtual hug! Thank you, you have brightened my spirits more than you could possibly know! Question

Hi Phaedriel - I must ask you a question: how do you manage to be the "Queen of Civility?" With me, its a recurring problem from the day I came to Wikipedia. When people attack my integrity, I just lose it. I believe in the philosophy of treating others well, but when attacked, I find it extremely difficult to not lash out. I give myself the option of either breaking a window or lashing out at the person who attacks me - I inevitably pick the latter as my window has never tried to hurt me. Yes, this is an honest request for some "practical" advice. Rama's arrow (just a sexy boy) 01:36, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

And I do believe in being as frank and forceful as necessary to make sure an important point is made. But somehow, you seem to smoothly skate across the hard edges. I am indeed hopeful that you could give me a few tips. Rama's arrow (just a sexy boy) 01:38, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

wikilove alert

User:Jonjonbt may need some wikilove/encouragement. He is a new editor who threw himself into the ring for RFA and got slammed / bitten pretty hard. It always breaks my heart to see these people leave because of RFA (I myself was there when my first RFA failed). It may be a lost cause however a little bit of encouragement from one of the most up lifting wikipedians on this project may encourage him to stick around and give it another go! For your consideration...

In return for your kind comments on my talk page last week, allow me to present you with some nominees for Awesome Wikipedians who may deserve a Day of their own somewhere down the line. (I'll describe them a bit so you can figure out what paintings/poems would be best. ;-))

  • Alensha is probably the biggest Egyptologist on the Wiki, not to mention the proudest citizen of Miskolc, Hungary. She never fails to brighten my day with her smarts, sense of humor, and general kindness--she's also been very helpful and supportive in my ongoing battle with the elusive Hungarian language.
  • Biruitorul is basically my wingman these days, despite his loopy political views. ;-) In between our rambling, off-topic conversations and merciless-but-all-in-sport teasing of each other that have been known to take up an entire lazy Sunday, I've come to know him as a trustworthy, intelligent, and clear-thinking contributor (who just might be poised for adminship soon...but don't leak the secret!) He is deeply religious (Eastern Orthodox) and refreshingly sincere about it, as well as being a Romanian patriot of almost deranged proportions.
  • Alexander Doria came out of nowhere like the breath of fresh air that is Reason in the midst of the Liszt War a few months back. I haven't seen him around much lately but he's absolutely charming, a classic French intellectual and scholar. Big Lisztophile, which doesn't hurt either. (He flattered the heck out of me by trying to speak Hungarian, too.)
  • István was essentially the first person I met here when I was still a dumb n00b wandering around the wiki being useless. He was masterminding the (successful!) drive to get the article on the 1956 Hungarian Revolution up to Featured and on the Main Page for the anniversary and immediately accepted me as a colleague, and by the end of that project I had gone from n00b to full-fledged Wikipedian. I still consider him my most trusted comrade-in-arms and best wiki-friend, despite his long (and continuing) absence due to some chaos in real life. He's quite the history buff but primarily a man of science, with an absolutely infectious cheerful curiosity and enthusiasm for knowledge and exploration, not to mention a clearly formidable intelligence and extensive body of knowledge. (He's also probably one of the funniest people I've ever met on-wiki or off--he's reduced me to uncontrollable giggling with a finely-crafted piece of erudite wit or a particularly delicious pun many, many times.) He once very kindly told me that my strength as a Wikipedian (and I suppose by extension as a scholar in general?) was that I had not only a brain but a heart as well, and I would say that is an equally good description of him.

Anyway, just keep them in mind, if you don't mind. I'm sure you've got a long list of your own already... K. Lásztocska 17:08, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Eh, no problem. Happy to help (though sometimes I do feel I'm getting a little too into the social aspect of the Wiki and neglecting scholarly duties...). I have to say though, I laugh whenever somebody calls me "K.", since it reminds me of poor K. wandering Kafka's Castle. Never revealing my real name weirds me out sometimes, but I suppose I prefer occasional existential confusion to lack of privacy.... K. Lásztocska 17:42, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

You're a great Wikipedian

I would give you a barnstar, but what I want you to know is better to say with words (and anyway, I'm too lazy to remember template names :->). You're a really great person, and I'm so glad to have you as a fellow Wikipedian. The only people who don't like you are, well, vandals, and they don't like anybody! Ryan Got something to say? 17:43, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi back.

Sure, if you want to. :) I wasn't going to ask for any protection because I didn't think it would be necessary (after all, you administrators get far more vandalism and trolling than I do), but since this is one person coming back to try to annoy me, I suppose semi-protecting my user page would be justified (they are trying hard to annoy me, but I am not annoyed), so feel free to semi-protect it. :) As for the E-mail, I haven't checked mine today (been busy in real life, heh, heh), but I'll check it later.
