WIP Merged Page

Ogat,

I've made a draft for that merge we talked about! Here's the link: Draft: List of NES and Famicom games. I need some help, it's my first merge... You interested? SuperGamer06 ( talk) 01:24, 23 July 2018 (UTC) reply

Well, you could help me with my copypasted tables, I can fix mistakes. I've put in and finished descriptions. I've done my own table, but it's just started... My method is to combine descriptions to suit both versions, then merge the tables keeping all info. By the way, could you sign your comments with 4 tildes? (~) SineBot deserves less work. Welcome!

Hello, Ogat, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{ helpme}} before the question on your talk page. Another editor has added the "{{ prod}}" template to the article Independent Production, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{ prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot ( talk) 20:29, 3 February 2008 (UTC) reply

Hi, It looks like you've been bold! but I think we might need to rearrange things a little. In particular, Indie is a disambiguation page, which means there are some additional policies about what you can and can't include there. I think the template will need to be kept to article pages, and I'm going to remove the link from the template to Indie too. Indie (culture) might be a good place for some of your ideas. Remember that additions need to be sourced and verifiable. Feel free to leave message on my talk page. -- AndrewHowse ( talk) 17:00, 5 February 2008 (UTC) reply

Hi Ogat, I found your message! It's more common to use talk pages (like this one) for messages. Most people have (talk) or something similar in their signatures - click on that. The issue that's been raised with your contributions is that you haven't cited any sources, so some people have assumed that this is your own research. No-one's saying it's not true, but encyclopedias are based on other verifiable and reputable sources, and there are strong rules here about that. See the links to verifiable and reputable sources in the Welcome message at the top of this page. A good solution would be to find a link to an article about Indie culture in, say, the NY Times, or Wired magazine, or some other mainstream source. Good luck! -- AndrewHowse ( talk) 16:09, 6 February 2008 (UTC) reply

An RfC that you may be interested in...

As one of the previous contributors to {{ Infobox film}} or as one of the commenters on it's talk page, I would like to inform you that there has been a RfC started on the talk page as to implementation of previously deprecated parameters. Your comments and thoughts on the matter would be welcomed. Happy editing!

Hello...

...and thank you for your link to Peace in the Anti-war template, which inspired me to switch it to 'Peace movement' and moved the 'Peace' link into the template. I think the subsection title "Agents of opposition" isn't quite right, as it moves into counter-effort wording. Nothing came to me on that one, do you have an idea for a name-shift? Thanks again. Randy Kryn ( talk) 16:19, 29 March 2018 (UTC) reply

I´m glad you like my edit on the anti-war template! I´ll see if I come up with some idea for that question. I´ve been doing a lot of edits on templates about libertarianism, free / open movements, peace, egualitarianism, etc. Ogat ( talk) 18:32, 29 March 2018 (UTC) reply
You're welcome. It's a good template. I haven't focused on the section title either, but if one pops in I'll run it by you. You pick some interesting topics, although I'm really not conversant on a couple of them. Good to meet you. Randy Kryn ( talk) 19:26, 29 March 2018 (UTC) reply

Moved the conversation to its original location. Better. I did another rearrangement, removed the word 'Related' (not applicable in this context), named the section 'Peace advocates', and reordered the sections. Seems to flow well. How's it look to you? Randy Kryn ( talk) 00:38, 30 March 2018 (UTC) reply
I like it, maybe later i'll search for more articles to add to the template! Nice to meet you, i'm not used to talk to other community members. Thank you very much

The RfC discussion to eliminate portals was closed May 12, with the statement "There exists a strong consensus against deleting or even deprecating portals at this time." This was made possible because you and others came to the rescue. Thank you for speaking up.

By the way, the current issue of the Signpost features an article with interviews about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

I'd also like to let you know that the Portals WikiProject is working hard to make sure your support of portals was not in vain. Toward that end, we have been working diligently to innovate portals, while building, updating, upgrading, and maintaining them. The project has grown to 80 members so far, and has become a beehive of activity.

Our two main goals at this time are to automate portals (in terms of refreshing, rotating, and selecting content), and to develop a one-page model in order to make obsolete and eliminate most of the 150,000 subpages from the portal namespace by migrating their functions to the portal base pages, using technologies such as selective transclusion. Please feel free to join in on any of the many threads of development at the WikiProject's talk page, or just stop by to see how we are doing. If you have any questions about portals or portal development, that is the best place to ask them.

If you would like to keep abreast of developments on portals, keep in mind that the project's members receive updates on their talk pages. The updates are also posted here, for your convenience.

Again, we can't thank you enough for your support of portals, and we hope to make you proud of your decision. Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   23:37, 26 May 2018 (UTC) reply

P.S.: if you reply to this message, please {{ ping}} me. Thank you. -TT

P.P.S.: I noticed that your idea was to convert the portals to outlines, rather than delete, and for that I am deeply grateful. Keep in mind that there is no easy way to do that. Each such conversion would take many hours. Even if an editor could do one every 4 days, which would be a rate of about 100 per year (the rate at which I produced outlines for several years), it would take the editor 15 years to convert them all. It would be much easier to fix the portals, which is what the Portals WikiProject is trying to do. I hope you come and check out what we're doing. You might be pleasantly surprised. -TT

@ The Transhumanist: That´s the first time I´m pinging someone, so I don´know if i made it right... You´re welcome, it is a great pleasure to help with ideas. Yes in fact I like portals and I like the ideia of having at least one place with all information about each big subject grouped together, say a portal or an outline page. In fact convert them all to outlines would be a massive work, but by automating them and even more, agregating inside the main portal page all old subpages would be very very very nice, in fact, in this way, it´s practically the serve practically as the same function of an outline page, so I´m very excited to see how it will look like!

Anarchism

Hi Ogat,

I saw your work on articles related to anarchism and wanted to say hello, as I work in the topic area too. If you haven't already, you might want to watch our noticeboard for Wikipedia's coverage of anarchism, which is a great place to ask questions, collaborate, discuss style/structure precedent, and stay informed about content related to anarchism. Take a look for yourself!

And if you're looking for other juicy places to edit, consider expanding a stub, adopting a cleanup category, or participating in one of our current formal discussions.

Non-free rationale for File:Ai igo coverart.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Ai igo coverart.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Also:

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot ( talk) 01:00, 29 January 2019 (UTC) reply

Hi @ Fastily: this was the first time I´ve uploaded an image on wikipedia, how exactly is the correct way to upload media cover arts and screenshots, like the ones present in many other video game articles? Ogat 14:09, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
Hiya Ogat
Every non-free file upload needs a license and a fair use rationale. In this case, check out some examples of featured video game articles and the types of templates they use for files. (The more recent the FA promotion, the better the templates.) The Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline explains how this work in more depth.

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Panarchy and many other Wikipedia articles into Outline of anarchism. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{ copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 ( talk) 21:35, 1 February 2019 (UTC) reply

Thanks, @ Diannaa: I didn´t know that! So, from now on every time I copy some portion of a text and reuse it with minimal modifications within wikipedia I´ll explain it in the edit summary with a link to the respective article! Ogat 18:48, 2 February 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of ISCO (videogame developer)

Hello Ogat,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged ISCO (videogame developer) for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!
