Hi Muhammad,

You are about the only FPC regular who voiced an opinion back in June to 'change to 5 supports when things pick up' who hasn't yet commented on my proposed change at Wikipedia_talk:Featured_picture_candidates#Changing_to_Minimum_of_5_Supports.

To ensure that everyone who signed up is still committed to participating in the 2010 WikiCup, it is required that you remove your name from this list! It's worth noting the rules have changed, likely after you signed up. The changes made thus far are:

• Mainspace and/or portal edits will not be awarded points at all.
• Did you know? articles (which were worth 5 points last year) will now be worth 10 points.
• Good articles (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
• Valued pictures will be now awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
• Featured lists (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
• Featured portals (which were worth 25 points last year) will now be worth 35 points.
• Featured articles (which were worth 50 points last year) will now be worth 100 points.
• Featured topics (which were worth 10 points per article last year) will now be worth 15 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
• Good topics (which were worth 5 points per article last year) will now be worth 10 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
• In the news will still be awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.

Okay, thanks. Sometimes I wonder how you make the identifications, but except for this one, just because of the slight angle, I've never had questions about identifications. I did assume in general, from other things you've said that you get them id'ed by entomologists and there are other images involved.

If you shoot more pictures without articles, Featured Pictures in particular, but any, let me know, also; love species level IDs, which I can't do myself for most extant insects. I just want you to know that I didn't expect my assessment to be taken as controversial by one particular editor. It's rather unfortunate that some of us are still pretending that there isn't a problem with us missing out on all the beautiful pictures that users have uploaded, many of whom may not contribute to the English Wikipedia, or be aware of the FPC process. I'm not arguing for an embargo against regulars. I'm just not a friend of turning a blind eye to standards just because of individual friendships. In my opinion, the P. dubia image is not nearly as good as the images you usually nominate, and while I appreciate your effort to address systemic bias and get more lizards featured (in fact, you were probably similarly addressing SB with your Dipterans, so thanks for that as well), I couldn't support it, and felt it prudent to remind others that their judgement should be based solely on the merits of each image. The way I see it, supporting a friend's image is only human, and there is equally nothing wrong with giving a reminder about this basic human flaw that is inherent in all of us. I refactored part of the poll to hopefully adequately reflect that there is a third option that people wanted under one of the sections. Please review the current state of the section and change your contribution as you see fit.

Adding new options as I have done is the suggested way for the poll to proceed, and I think the degree of differentiation we now have is roughly what we should be aiming for - not too many different options so we can still see some consensus developing, and not too few so that people can find an option that reasonably approximates what they want.

I'm not sure if you noticed my comment. The picture site on Wikipedia shows from time to time a lower quality ((1,024 × 768 pixels, file size: 67 KB) than the one on Commons. If you go the the site on Commons you'll see that it is bigger (1,322 × 780 pixels, file size: 354 KB). I really don't know why Wikipedia doesn't show the correct resolution and size. Maybe this problem came up when I uploaded a new version of this picture (my first upload was the wrong version). Maybe this can change your opinion from weak oppose to weak support ^_^ Hive001 contact 08:51, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

I think a lot of Wikipedians might be interested to learn more about what its like trying to both contribute photos to Wikipedia/Commons and make money licensing photos, so I'm interviewing a few Wikipedian photographers. Hi Muhammad, I would like to ask you to tell me more about your trip to Ngorongoro crater, if you have a time of course. I've been to Africa 2 times, and I miss it so much. Ngorongoro was one of the best places we went to. It was the only place we saw a cheetah with two cubs. It also was an adventure, when the other vehicle got stuck in a mud, and my husband should have got out to help to push it, while lions, elephants and the scariest of all hippos were watching from nearby.
