Question

Hi, it's me, Artichoke-Boy. I need your advise on something: do you think I should nominate Chanteuse for deletion per WP: NOTADICTIONARY? Or do you think it's not necessary? If you think it should be nominated, though, do not nominate it for me. Just tell me if I should or shouldn't. Thanks a lot.  ARTICHOKE-BOY  (Talk) 19:30, 6 June 2009 (UTC) reply

GA review of Beriah Magoffin

Thanks for your GA review of Beriah Magoffin. Though it was only your second review, it was very similar to reviews I've received from more experienced GA reviewers. I don't think you were particularly hard on the prose; I think your suggestions made the article much better. I hope my responses have adequately addressed your concerns and you will be able to pass the article to GA soon. Thanks again. Acdixon ( talk contribs count) 01:26, 8 June 2009 (UTC) reply

Qbert GAN

Thank you for the review. It was certainly on par with the other reviews I've seen at GAN, and paid good attention to details like prose and images. The only thing that was different was the fact that the review was done in parts and did not use a list of the criteria like {{ GAList}} or {{ GAList2}}. However, neither are really big deals. I myself do peer reviews in 2–4 parts sometimes. The list isn't required either, but it does provide a quick and easier overview of how the article stacks up against the GA criteria.

In summary, it was a good review, and I hope you keep it up. ( Guyinblack25 talk 02:51, 13 June 2009 (UTC)) reply

My new article

Hi Mm40. It's me, Artichoke-Boy. As I've told you on Friday, I'm currently working to create an article on CARET, a secret Department of Defense research program that has been theorized to exist. This will be undoubtedly the most complex article I have created. My question is that, considering most of the article's sources are based purely on speculation (people claiming they have worked for the organization, sightings of crafts that are claimed to have been made by the organization, etc.), will that cause problems in the reliability of the article? Let me note that I WILL NOT write this info as FACT. For example, I will not write "CARET is an organization...," but rather "CARET is a supposed organization..." Thanks for your help.  ARTICHOKE-BOY  (Talk) 13:45, 21 June 2009 (UTC) reply

Las Vegas metropolitan area

I saw that you added a nobreak space in there. Personally I think it is better to replace all units and conversions with {{tl:convert}}. This converts all of the output to comply with the MoS. If you leave off the target, it even selects the correct convert to option. I always use abbr=on to use abbreviations and the lk=on for the first use to meet the MoS policy on links. How is it unconstructive deleting content which is clearly only directed at European people? English speaking wikipedia users from Canada, Australia, here in the US and New Zealand, would have no interest in 3 paragraphs of Turkey production in England. From Artichoke-Boy

Hi Mm40. I have a quick concern that I would like to have your feedback on. When determining if an article is an orphan, I know that there are a number of links that don't count, and that includes links in lists. Would you consider a navbox template a "list" (see Wikipedia:Lists#Navigation)? Thanks for your help.  ARTICHOKE-BOY  (Talk) 21:15, 28 June 2009 (UTC) reply

Okay, thanks a lot. Although, I don’t think that the whole "walled garden" thing is an issue at all, because (I way I see it), there are articles that link to the article which holds the navbox template, which links to the article I'm determining is an orphan or not.  ARTICHOKE-BOY  (Talk) 21:31, 28 June 2009 (UTC) reply

And it is the second single as stated in many interviews and her Glastonbury performance, I tried to use this as a reference but Im new to this and I didnt know how to.. http://www.inthenews.co.uk/inconversation/entertainment/music/little-boots-the-next-video-will-be-more-me--$1301388.htm

Ive come across many articles that say that the subject of it is the "upcoming single"

Lindsey Baum

My internet access cut out due to weather while I was in the process of trying to create the article. But a hearty thank you for attempting to remove everything within 2 minutes of creation, instead of affording me or anyone else the opportunity to complete it. The warning and it's lack of tact was equally welcomed, although I'm not sure it adheres to the five pillars, specifically respecting other users and assuming good faith.

JerseyGirlMedia ( talk) 01:45, 1 July 2009 (UTC) reply

Then perhaps the appropriate action would be to change that, or create a new article with the correct name, and not leave a scalding message on a user's talk page asserting that it's being deleted for other reasons.

And as it stands, the article does not qualify for speedy deletion, so you may want to remove it from being a candidate for it.

JerseyGirlMedia ( talk) 02:06, 1 July 2009 (UTC) reply

To add, having checked the article and the title, "Baum" is capitilized properly. So if that's your sole reason for a speedy deletion nomination, it's completely erroneous.

Hiya,

Some users have decided to try and relaunch WP:SPOTLIGHT. I've helped out a bit; hope I'm not 'treading on any toes' here; it just seemed like the best approach was to simply give it a try - hence changing the project page around, and starting to work on an arbitrary article.

If you want to get involved, please do so. I will let the other previous 'coordinators' know too. Cheers,  Chzz   ►  16:41, 6 July 2009 (UTC) reply

I was unsure about whether or not the name was allowed. The username policy says this: "Offensive usernames are those that offend other contributors, making harmonious editing difficult or impossible." I don't believe this username would offend anyone, and although it may look odd on sight, "harmonious editing" isn't difficult. Mm40 ( talk) 21:27, 23 August 2009 (UTC) reply
I've re-added the bit about profanity in the username policy. Somehow it slipped out. Toddst1 ( talk) 00:27, 24 August 2009 (UTC) reply
I don't consider "fart" profane. Mm40 ( talk) 20:45, 24 August 2009 (UTC)}} reply
It's indisputably vulgar. In case you're not sure what vulgar means, when related to language, that means "offensive in language : earthy b : lewdly or profanely indecent". Which part of the username policy don't you think applies: the offensive part or profane? As an account creator, I would expect you to have a better understanding of WP:U. Toddst1 ( talk) 21:26, 24 August 2009 (UTC) reply

I just wanted to say that I completely understand why you wanted to speedily delete this article, and frankly I would have wanted to tag it also, but I took a good look at it and felt that it didn't quite meet any speedy deletion criterion, so I took the liberty of replacing the speedy tag with a prod tag. My apologies for second-guessing you. I will keep a close eye on it and, if the prod tag is removed, will take the article to AfD unless you beat me to it. If you have any questions or problems, I'm at your service. Accounting4Taste: talk 21:10, 26 August 2009 (UTC) reply

Thanks for your note. It might have been a case where nothing would save the article, and I was tempted -- VERY tempted -- but I thought I would allow for the off-chance that there is a history to this phrase and my websearch was off-base. Thanks for understanding. Accounting4Taste: talk 21:28, 26 August 2009 (UTC) reply
