Hi MisterBee1966. I see you transcluded this FLC this morning. Thing is, your existing nomination has yet to draw any comments, nor support, so I would urge you to remove this latest nomination until such a time that issues in the 1942 list can be sorted out and read across to your other lists. Thanks. The Rambling Man ( talk) 08:11, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Dear "MisterBee1966",
according to the editorial page concerning the information on Major Eduard Tratt you wrote most of it.
Please keep in mind that there still exist the relatives of Major Eduard Tratt whom you did not contact before providing the information to the English branch of Wikipedia.
In case you would like to get some further information please drop me a message via Wikipedia "My talk". (You can use the German language in order to leave me a message. I am a native German speaker!)
I am looking forward to receiving some lines from you.

Dear "MisterBee1966",
I have received your following lines:
So how can I help you? I have a question regarding the removal of citations. Why did you remove them? Surely you understand the principles of Wikipedia. All information posted on Wikipedia is subject to WP:Verifiability—The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth—whether readers can check that material in Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source, not whether editors think it is true.—which means if its not written somewhere and not verifiable by the reader it is subject to deletion, whereas cited information prevails. Now, this doesn't mean that the sources are correct, and as a relative you may have more insight into the matter than others. But accusing me or others on Wikipedia of "DO NOT mess up with the family = the relatives of Major Eduard Tratt!!!" is impolite and wrong! The information posted on the article was based on the sources referenced. I suggest that you provide verifiable evidence for the changes you made. Thank you and good day. MisterBee1966 (talk) 06:22, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Here are my answers:
1.) Why did I remove one of the citations? My answer is: The information given by you concerning the rank of my relative was false. Eduard Tratt happened to be Hauptmann at this time of his career and not Oberleutnant! (As a member of the family of Eduard Tratt I do not have to provide you any evidence. You should have contacted the family before placing the information.)
2.) Why did I mention "not to mess up" with my family? Answer: In the past so called "researchers" tried to gather information on Eduard Tratt using illegal measures and methods. I totally dislike such persons! In case you are not such a person I apologize for my words.
3.) How can you help me? The answer is that I think it is the opposite way this help works. Within the article on Eduard Tratt I placed additional information which you did not have e.g. the time for his awards concerning the different classes of the "Iron Cross". (As a member of the family of Eduard Tratt I do not have to provide you any evidence. You should have contacted the family before placing the information.)
Have a nice weekend!

Wikipedia user "Eduard Tratt"

Dear "MisterBee1966",
as you like to prefer to exchange lines in English I will answer your latest lines briefly.
In one comment you suggested to use Fellgiebel as a source of information concerning the award of the "Eichenlaub" to Eduard Tratt. I do not think that the addition "... a member of Eduard Tratt's family ..." didn't confirm this source of information is the correct approach for the solution of this problem. The truth should be told and not what Fellgiebel wrote in his book concerning the "Eichenlaub".
In your latest lines you asked me which kind of source I might consider trustworthy. The correct answer is: the information which is required to provide trustful information upon Major Eduard Tratt lies within his personal documents e.g. the papers regarding the reward of "awards", "ranks" etc.
I do not know if you are aware of the fact that most of the books dealing with the different kinds of "Zerstörergeschwader" were based on Obermaier. Obermaier in common is a valid source of information but it is not the only one!
I may consider that you establish contact to the authors/writers of the different books concerning the "Zerstörergeschwader" of the German Nazi Luftwaffe before you provide information dealing with these troops and their (crew)members before you provide any information to the usual users of Wikipedia (the English or any other branch/version).
The use of only books concerning the awards of members of the Luftwaffe or the use of - dated - external hyperlinks does not further your attempt to provide valid information.
Regards
Wikipedia user "Eduard Tratt"
P.S. As I mentioned before I do have personal documents concerning the military awards, carreer and commands of Eduard Tratt. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eduard Tratt ( talk • contribs) 17:15, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for adding those extra references. I'd only seen the short piece in Hogben's technical history and thought it was interesting about him saving prisoners. Your addition makes it a much stronger article.
I'm saddened to see that he died in only 1946. Do you know any more? I'm guessing this was during further disposal work post-war? Any expansion on the background to his Ritterkreuz would be welcome too.
I'm planning articles for Feueurwerker (armourer), Sprengkommando (just stub definitions) and List of Luftwaffe air-dropped bomb fuzes in World War II (better name?) soon.
Thanks, Andy Dingley ( talk) 11:35, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Of course, with pleasure. I have some suggestions already, but I'm afraid I won't be able to comment on the FLC tomorrow. I will certainly have the time on Friday night and / or Saturday morning. If you need it earlier, I can certainly stress my schedule. I will be more specific in the review, but in general I want you to know that the lists are indeed worth of reaching featured status; I don't think they lack something compared to other relative lists that reached featured status the past months / years. Hey MisterBee - I'm working on a rewrite of German battleship Scharnhorst, and came up with names and (some) dates for the ship's four commanders. Hi again, thanks for challenging my interpretation of that sentence. I am still unsure exactly what is meant. Does the source state that Lindemann was a tactically orientated commander, rather than a strategically educated officer? Hi, MisterBee, I've closed the Milhist peer review for List of Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross recipients (A) because it has now been nominated for an ACR and it is probably not ideal to have two different review processes open at the same time (keeping the peer review open may take away potential A-class reviewers). I have just come from the Wolfgang Lüth talk page where I made some pretty crass remarks concerning officer ranks. At that time of night, I was, to put it mildly, rather surprised to see such offerings.
But they are laughable in that they have not been corrected in a relatively long time. If I have offended you, I apologise; I know that my spoken German is far inferior to your written English!
Looking at the article's history, I can see that you are by far the most prolific editor, so I wonder if there is any particular reason why the ranks have not been modified?
I'll go to the article's page now and do the honours.

Ernst Lindemann (1894–1941) was a German naval captain and the only commander of the battleship Bismarck during its eight months of service in World War II. Born in 1894, he joined the German Imperial Navy ( German: Kaiserliche Marine) in 1913, and after his basic military training, served on a number of warships during World War I as a wireless telegraphy officer. After World War I, he served in various staff as well as naval gunnery training positions. In May 1941, Lindemann commanded Bismarck during Operation Rheinübung. The German task force, under the command of Admiral Günther Lütjens, consisted of the battleship Bismarck and the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen, was to break out of its base in German occupied Norway and attack British merchant shipping lanes in the Atlantic Ocean. The force's first major engagement was the Battle of the Denmark Strait which resulted in the sinking of HMS Hood. Less than a week later, on 27 May, Lindemann and most of his crew lost their lives during Bismarck's last battle. He was posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross ([Ritterkreuz des Eisernes Kreuzes] Error: {{Lang}}: text has italic markup ( help)). The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross recognized extreme bravery on the battlefield or outstanding military leadership. ( more...)

There's also an anon editor whose changes may have merit but I'm not sure. Cheers, Ian Rose ( talk) 21:42, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Instinct tells me you had something to do with it so thanks. I don't have any FAs, or 75 air victories, so the Oak Leaves comes as a bit of a surprise. Dapi89 ( talk) 20:01, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi, MisterBee. I was wondering if you have had time to look at the changes I've made to German battleship Tirpitz since you reviewed the article. I think I've addressed everything you said in your review. Thanks. Parsecboy ( talk) 23:45, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
I appreicate you helping me with my first article greatly but may i ask why are you helping me if you want it deleted? Goldblooded ( talk) 19:13, 2 July 2011 (UTC)
Hi MisterBee1966. I saw your deletion request at Commons. Since you removed the coordinate template, do you still want it to be deleted? What is the reason for deletion? Feel free to update the IfD page. Cheers -- Ben.MQ ( talk) 17:48, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
Hey MB, I've gotten to all of your points, but I have a question for you on the volume of Hildebrand, Röhr and Steinmetz - can you take a look at the ACR? Thanks again. Parsecboy ( talk) 14:49, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Please see the tag on Tank Destruction Badge, text in the article appears to be from http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/war_badges/heer/single_tank.htm.-- NortyNort (Holla) 00:34, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
You may want to contribute to this thread. I have had a look at the lists of Knight's cross recipients and find some of the translations unfortunate. I hope together we can find more appropriate terms. Yours -- FJS15 ( talk) 16:21, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
The only reason that I have added the category is that I had seen it other articles. However your point that a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross is also a recipient of the Iron Cross is very true. I am not sure what to do in regards to future articles. DocYako ( talk) 18:42, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm drafting a list of recipients of the Spanish Cross in Gold with Swords and Diamonds, and of course some went on to win the Iron Cross, which will form (I think) a note on the Spanish Cross listing. What's the general source for the award/date of the award? The pages themselves don't make it clear. Grandiose ( me, talk, contribs) 13:53, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi MB, I know you're on a vacation, but I saw you made a couple of edits today and wondered if you had a second to let me know if I have satisfactorily addressed your points at the ACR. If not, no worries. I hope you're enjoying your time away. Parsecboy ( talk) 19:29, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
Great to see you standing again, mate! Cheers, Ian Rose ( talk) 10:19, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Hi mate, as a last-minute op-ed for the August Bugle I penned a brief recollection of September 11 for the 10th anniversary. I agreed with Ed that more than one perspective would be appropriate if people can manage it in time (have to be in the next 24 hours or so!) and your name came up as one who might be interested. Here's what's there at the moment, pls feel free to add or comment. Cheers, Ian Rose ( talk) 02:21, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

Hello, MisterBee1966. I see that you are a member of WP:OMT. I am reminding you that there is a discussion [ here] about whther or not to award Bahamut0013, a member of OMt who passsed awsay a short while ago, the Titan's Cross in silver. your opinion will be welcome. Sorry for my bad english, I'm not a native speaker. I have a question about Emil Lang (fighter ace). I ask you because you expanded this article last year very much. In the article, it's said that he was born at Talheim in the Neckar region near Sontheim of Württemberg. So, where? Sontheim links to Sontheim an der Brenz, but that is not in the neckar region at all, and a "Talheim" is also not nearby. Talheim links to Talheim, Heilbronn, but this is not near Sontheim an der Brenz, and if he would have been born in Talheim, Heilbronn, I think he would have been inscripted in the town's war memorial, but he isn't. So, does the sources you used say anything else that could help to answer this question? SteMicha ( talk) 18:42, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
I am pleased to inform you that you have been elected as a coordinator of the Military history WikiProject. Congratulations on your achievement, and thank you for volunteering!
Discussions of our plans for the coming year will no doubt begin in the next few days. In the meantime, please make sure that you have the coordinators' discussion page on your watchlist, as most of the relevant activity happens there. If you have not already done so, you may want to read the relevant courses in the project academy, as well as the discussion page and its recent archives.
If you have any questions about your work as a coordinator, or anything else, please don't hesitate to ask me directly. Kirill [talk] [prof] 02:02, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Dank, The Ed17, Adamdaley, Ian Rose and a few guys are on it, so please join and tell others about it as well. Sp33dyphil " Ad astra" 09:40, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

On 12 October 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Der Stern von Afrika, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the German war film Der Stern von Afrika portrayed the combat career of Luftwaffe fighter pilot Hans-Joachim Marseille? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Der Stern von Afrika. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page ( here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
