Flagging articles

Hi Kukini. Thanks for the note left on my talk page. You gave me some useful links close at hand. However, there is one thing I'm not quite sure how to figure out. How can you flag a page for review for some violation of Wikipedia's rules (whether it be NPOV or soapbox or inappropriate for an encyclopedia)? Thanks again. Cheers, Sdej 19:31, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Hello again, Kukini. After giving up looking for instructions on that, I found what I was looking for by accident. Sorry to bother you! Cheers, Sdej 20:25, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Belated thank you.

I apologize for my tardyness, but I appreciate the welcome. But someone beat ya to it on my talk page.

IP userpages

I don't think "they" have much say in the matter as they're blocked indefinitely as open proxies. The one good thing about squidward (since he never logs in as a username) is it helps us identify IP addresses that need blocking immediately. — Mar. 1, '06 [05:28] < freakof nu rx ture | talk>

Apologies for the confusion

You said: Go check my User contributions. You will find I am no sockpuppet. In fact, all I have done is positive work, such as recent changes patrolling. Just thought you might want to know, as you referred to me as a suspected sockpuppet when you deleted my welcome. Kukini 14:12, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Aloha, Kukini. I apologize profoundly for the confusion--when I was talking about a suspected sockpuppet, I was refering to User:LaShanda Martinique. There's been a new contender for "The Next Willy on Wheels," and I was not clear in who I was referring to. Justin Eiler 14:19, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

User page problem

Maybe you can help me on this - I have my user name and have been doing editing for a couple of days, but my user page says I don't exist, so I can't edit it! Is there a delay on it? Hyperman 42 14:35, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Reason for Barnstar

I'd just recently discovered what Barnstars were when I saw one in someone else's user talk, and was reminded of the first entry in my Talk - yours. I checked your user contributions and it read like a list of Random Acts of Kindness :) - my first encounter with a Wiki user was a) positive, b) materially helpful, c) unsolicited and unexpected, and d) yours ;) - hence the Barnstar :) Longshot14 05:36, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the Welcome and...

I checked your user page (how do you get all that in 3 months!!!!!)...seems you have an interest in counselling and therapy.

Just wanted to let you know that I am currently getting approval from Sue Johnson to post a page on her and on her technique (jointly established) called Emotionally Focused Therapy.

Does this sound like it would make a good fit in Wiki?

You can see her website at EFT

Creating disambiguation pages?

Hi Kukini --

I see that a disambiguation page needs to be created for Peter Milton -- although the second Milton that someone added is given only a single line. Anyway, I don't know how to create disambiguation pages and have not yet found instructions on how to do so. And of course curious how you would respond to this particular case, where the second entry is so minimal. Just make it a stub? Thanks! Darwin Tallhouse 15:16, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

This IP is a shared public IP for a school network. I just viewed the message about unhelpful edits when I tried to read an article. Is there a way you guys can block anonymous edits from this network since most of them will be vandalism attempts?

an angry response to an AFD vote

i see you piled on the delete hugh deasy page with little comment or understanding. i don't see an email address but in looking at your user page, i see that you don't believe in the construct of race. race is a concept as plain as the nose on people's face. for an interesting discussion from a propenent's point of view see http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/first/gill.html the race deniers seem to me mainly blood typers and work at the molecular level while the propenents are forensic antropologists.

Account removal

For several reasons, I'd like to have my account removed from Wiki. I have made a thousand or so edits the past two months, but I now wish to have my user name and my account deleted completely. The articles I have contributed to and created can stay (if my "peers" so wish), but I no longer want to be related to Wiki in any way possible. Please advise (without trying to make me change my mind), thank you.

wjmt 06:59, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

That's really impossible, I hope you know, because it will simply leave a hole where your edits were, in the edit history. Developers are usually only permitted to delete accounts with no edits. Elle vécut heureuse à jamais ( Be eudaimonic!) 07:15, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your advice kukini.I have posted always true information and gotta have respect other user , and copyright etc . I only copy and paste the information wich is origanaly posted by myself. The intention behind it is only to make my information read by most reader. And because of lack of time i have to do so. I have gotta always post at neutral point of view but some times because of some reasons such as vandalism , excitement , anger etc makes me what i shoud ought not to do. i am sorry for that mistake.I shall be and will certainly rectify my mistakes. Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #1

Reach out is a program aimed at allowing users to bring issues that they have had in Wikipedia to a listening, sympathetic and caring audience:
"No one can know how we feel if we do not say. We cannot expect to get understanding if we do not ask for it. No one will dispute that sometimes life's issues are too much for one person. It is fair to say that sometimes Wikipedia's problems fall under the same heading. This is a place where you can bring the bruises that can sometimes be got on this project for attention."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Note from the editor
Welcome to this new format of the Esperanza Newsletter, which came about during the last Advisory Council meeting - we hope you like it! The major changes are that each month, right after the Council meeting, this will be sent out and will include two featured programs and a sum up of the meeting. Also, it will be signed by all of the Advisory Council members, not just Celestianpower. Have an Esperanzial end of March, everyone!
  1. Future meetings are to be held monthly, not fortnightly as before.
  2. Bans and Access level changes (apart from autovoice) in the IRC channel are to be reported at the new log.
  3. In the IRC channel, there is going to be only one bot at a time.
  4. The charter requires members to have 150 edits and 2 weeks editing. Why this is the case will be clarified.
  5. A new Code of Conduct will be drafted by JoanneB and proposed to the Esperanza community.
  6. The NPA reform idea is to be dropped officially.
  7. Charter ammendments are to be discussed in future, not voted on.
  8. The Advisory Council is not going to be proposed to be expanded by the Advisory Council themselves, if others want to propose it, they will listen.
Signed...

Thanks Kukini

Hi Kukini,

Just got your welcome. I helped originate the Effect Size page, but it's been a while since I revisited and am clearing up a few minor points. Anyway, thanks - your the first contact I've had on Wikipedia.

Best for now, Grant

Thanks Kukini

Thanks for the welcome and also for alphabetizing those links.

I alphabetized them yesterday but Kennylucius undid it and claimed the new order - the one you changed, was "re-alphabetized" -- and I couldn't tell what alphabetizing system he was using so when I re-added my link I just put it in last.

I was so relieved to see that I wasn't the only one who applied alphabetizing the same way!

Anyway, Thanks

thanks

Thank you for your message! I know the links you left me will come in very handy! Obviouschild 17:30, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks and questions on creating an account name

Kukini,

Thank you for the March 14 welcome comment on my user page. I appreciate your suggestion that I create a username and do future edits under that name rather than anonymously under my IP Address. I have two questions about your suggestion:

1. If I create a username, do the various edits that I have made anonymously to date and are marked with my IP address automatically become associated with that new username? If not, can I manually change them so that they are marked with my newuser name instead of my IP address?

2. How do I actually go about getting a username?

Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for your welcome!

good morning (or maybe good evening ?) Kukini, Thanks a lot for greeting me on Wikipedia! I have two questions for you:

- On Sunday I forgot to login, then I added two contributions. Of course they came not under my name, but under the ip-address of my PC. There is a way to substitute the IP-address with my name? I suppose that this is a common mistake ;-)

- I am Italian, and my english is of course not perfect. Would be possible to control the language of my contributions?

Thanks again for greeting me,

Ciao from sunny Switzerland!
