Hi! I noticed that you protected 1948 Arab–Israeli War with pending changes level 2 protection. I wasn't aware that there was consensus for PC2 (the protection policy cites WP:PC2012/RfC 1). Could you please clarify your action? Thanks! It's a Fox! (Talk to me?) 00:56, 3 February 2013 (UTC) reply

Supershankycool

Sorry about the block log on User:Supershankycool. I actually blocked the user first for spamming after a warning, especially as I had seen a few other edits with the same site. Then, after an SPI confirmed socking (and all accounts did nothing but add links to that site), I didn't think to update the log. I have no idea why there's no block notice on the page--that's a complete failure on my part. Sorry for any confusion. Qwyrxian ( talk) 07:51, 13 February 2013 (UTC) reply

Ah, I see how that came about now. Thanks for clearing it up. -- King of ♠ 10:53, 13 February 2013 (UTC) reply

I have started a discussion at WP:ANI#Shankysupercool which concerns a user you recently unblocked. Your participation there is welcome. — Psychonaut ( talk) 19:03, 16 February 2013 (UTC) reply

An image created by you has been promoted to featured picture status
Your image, File:Stanford Oval May 2011 panorama.jpg, was nominated on Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates, gained a consensus of support, and has been promoted. If you would like to nominate an image, please do so at Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates. Thank you for your contribution! Armbrust The Homunculus 20:47, 16 February 2013 (UTC) reply

Since you've handled many building FOP cases, maybe you can help here too? It needs a free licence combined with {{ FoP-USonly|Iceland|2020}}. It seems that the image previously was uploaded to Commons:File:Hallgrimskirkja transposed.jpg, so someone needs to check the deleted information on Commons in order to retrieve the licence. -- Stefan2 ( talk) 21:51, 16 February 2013 (UTC) reply

Done though the actual image in question is commons:File:Reykjavik's church.jpg, not the one you linked. -- King of ♠ 02:02, 18 February 2013 (UTC) reply
OK, thanks. The uploader told me that it was Commons:File:Hallgrimskirkja transposed.jpg. I guess he didn't remember the correct file name. -- Stefan2 ( talk) 09:53, 18 February 2013 (UTC) reply

PC2, redux

Hi King. Per Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Use_of_pending_changes_level_2, I was looking over the list of pages that were currently under PC2 and I see that you applied PC2 to 1948 Arab–Israeli War. I downgraded the protection, but then I noticed that you had cited local consensus overriding community consensus for this back in January. That seems to be a novel justification that only you, among all admins, are using. Would you mind joining the discussion at ANI about this matter so we can figure the matter out? A fluffernutter is a sandwich! ( talk) 04:32, 21 February 2013 (UTC) reply

There is a key distinction between global consensus and lack thereof. Currently, there is no global consensus to use PC2 or to not use it. Thus any local consensus should be considered valid. Note that global consensus never said PC2 should not be used; it merely did not say it should be used. -- King of ♠ 10:08, 21 February 2013 (UTC) reply

Is there a reason why Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Chinnakanal was closed more than 4 days earlier, than scheduled? Armbrust The Homunculus 21:29, 22 February 2013 (UTC) reply

Speedy closure. Something which clearly does not satisfy the criteria (here, by being too small) can be closed early. -- King of ♠ 05:11, 23 February 2013 (UTC) reply

I appreciate

whatever your part was in getting File:MartiequNYC14.jpg back in the List of equestrian statues. Life is good. Einar aka Carptrash ( talk) 15:23, 24 February 2013 (UTC) reply

  • Where was the refund request? I can't see anything at REFUND and this was actually being dealt with at DRV so I don't think you can really undelete this without doing something there. Spartaz Humbug! 19:32, 24 February 2013 (UTC) reply
It's in the archives, which I was looking at for fun. I didn't notice the DRV, so I guess we can just let it run its course and seeing how it's going, it'll probably support this undeletion. -- King of ♠ 20:33, 24 February 2013 (UTC) reply
Oh, missed that when I checked. I wouldn't feel the need to do anything about the image myself, this is clearly going to be undeleted. I was waiting to see if Explicit would reverse themselves but they haven't been editing and won't have seen this yet. I think I'll just close the DRV per not Buro and being moot. R204DESIGN

Hi King of Hearts, it's a bit unclear why you restored R204DESIGN, which was deleted on 26 January following an AfD. I can only find an un-successful request for restoral at WP:REFUND. Sionk ( talk) 00:26, 25 February 2013 (UTC) reply

Because the REFUND request was closed incorrectly. As specified at the AfD, a REFUND request for any reason should have gone through. -- King of ♠ 01:40, 25 February 2013 (UTC) reply
