Links to draft articles

Information icon Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to 1998 Copa Interamericana and Copa Interamericana. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been removed. Thank you. - Arjayay ( talk) 20:06, 20 August 2023 (UTC) reply

India maps

Hello. The India3 map which you keep on adding to articles about cricket shows the disputed areas on the country's borders in a way that specifically gives the impression that India controls them and that they are a de facto part of the country. That's untrue. That's why India is a better map - any use of India3 in this sort of context suggests that there may be the possibility that a political point is being made by its use, specifically about the border between India and Pakistan.

You need to be aware that WP:CTOP applies here - specifically because this is dealing with India's borders with Pakistan. I'll add a template in a moment to show other readers that you've now been made aware of it. By all means ask if you're unsure what it means or what the consequences are of ignoring the CTOP nature of the topic area. But essentially it means don't add India3 in contexts where the issue with the borders are not going to be explained. I'm sure that you could point at a tonne of places where India3 is being used. Please feel free to point them out to me. But it doesn't stop their use being contrary to CTOP. Blue Square Thing ( talk) 06:45, 8 December 2023 (UTC) reply

IPL is an league held in India. I added 'India2'to show the disputed areas. Moreover, 2023 Cricket World Cup has 'India2' after much consensus. I would request you to open a discussion on the talk page over making a decision on your own. Kiilvish ( talk) 06:48, 8 December 2023 (UTC) reply
You added India3 at this edit to the WPL page a few hours ago. You've also previously added India3 to a number of other pages - specifically changing it from India (for example, in late November). You did change the IPL one to India2 and I generally think that that does show things more clearly - so am very happy to use that one in this sort of context. Interestingly India2 was never agreed upon at the CWC page - my reversion to the previous version of the map on 13 October reverted it to India and I don't believe any consensus to change it to India2 was agreed. Which is academically interesting only - in contexts where the country being displayed is India I don't see any obvious problem with using India2, although I would listen to any concerns and err on the side of India if challenged on this.
It's really easy to add the wrong one though and it may just have been the slip of a finger on the WPL page. It's best that you're aware of the CTOP stuff anyway and have the template so that everyone knows that you've been alerted. Blue Square Thing ( talk) 07:09, 8 December 2023 (UTC) reply
I agree, using India2 in certain contexts is more clear. Thanks for the heads up! Kiilvish ( talk) 07:17, 8 December 2023 (UTC) reply
