Hello everyone, and we would like to wish you all a happy holiday season. As you will probably already know, the 2016 WikiCup begins in the new year; there is still time to sign up. There are some changes we'd like to announce before the competition begins.
After two years of serving as WikiCup judge, User:Miyagawa has stepped down as judge. He deserves great thanks and recognition for his dedication and hard work, and for providing necessary transition for a new group of judges in last year's Cup. Joining Christine ( User:Figureskatingfan) and Jason ( User:Sturmvogel 66) is Andrew ( User:Godot13), a very successful WikiCup competitor and expert in Featured Pictures; he won the two previous competitions. This is a strong judging team, and we anticipate lots of enjoyment and good work coming from our 2016 competitors.
We would also like to announce one change in how this year's WikiCup will be run. In the spirit of sportsmanship, Godot13 and Cwmhiraeth have chosen to limit their participation. See here for the announcement and a complete explanation of why. They and the judges feel that it will make for a more exciting, enjoyable, and productive competition.
The discussions/polls concerning the next competition's rules will be closed soon, and rules changes will be made clear on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring and talk pages. The judges are committed to not repeating the confusion that occurred last year and to ensuring that the new rules are both fair and in the best interests of the competition, which is, first and foremost, about improving Wikipedia.
If you have any questions or concerns, the judges can be reached on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, on their talk pages, or by email. We hope you will all join us in trying to make the 2015 WikiCup the most productive and enjoyable yet. You are receiving this message because you are listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. We are about to enter the second week of the 2016 WikiCup. The most recent player to sign up brings the current total to 101 contestants. Signups close on 5 February. If you’re interested, you can join this year's WikiCup here.
We are aware that in some areas the scoring bot’s numbers are a little bit off (i.e., overly generous) and are working to have that corrected as soon as possible.-- MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 18:04, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

The Wikimedia Foundation is currently running a consultation on the value and planning process of Wikimania, and is open until 18 January 2016. The goals are to (1) build a shared understanding of the value of Wikimania to help guide conference planning and evaluation, and (2) gather broad community input on what new form(s) Wikimania could take (starting in 2018).
After reviewing the consultation, we'd like to hear your feedback on on this survey.
In addition, feel free to share any personal experiences you have had at at a Wikimedia movement conference, including Wikimania. We plan to compile and share back outcomes from this consultation in February.
With thanks,

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Asian American Artists Collective Chicago, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Emily Chang. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

At least give the community the courtesy of your opinion as to why you would decline a case of an admin abusing his position, making involved blocks, telling others to fuck off &c. Your trite "decline" speaks volumes about how seriously you take this role at Arbcom. Thanks. The Rambling Man ( talk) 21:31, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi,
It looks like you have removed few contents from my userpage to protect my privacy (thank you!). Is birthdate the only thing that you removed, or did you remove something else? No, no, no, I'm not angry at you for making changes to protect my personal information. It's just that I want to keep track of changes to my userpage. Also, when I went to "View history" in my userpage, some of the edits have a strikethrough and is grayed out. What does this mean? Obviously, the edits have not been deleted and still appears in my userpage.
Happy editing,

You are very correct in the embarrassing shape of the Vaginal flora article. I have been hesitating on its improvement because it needs so much work and my efforts to improve the encyclopedia in this topic area have been met with...well here is a new word - non-collaboratively.
Firstly, NONE of the MEDRS-level sources ever use the term 'Vaginal flora' at this time. It is called the Vaginal microbiota or the vaginal microbiome. Other excellent sources are now distinguishing between the Microbiota of the lower reproductive tract, and the microbiota in the upper reproductive tract (yes! things live there!) So the problem of the name is archaic and produces no returns if you search for it in the good sources, unless you back to 1960. Changing the title is like moving Mt. Everest especially since a search of the archives reveals that changing the title has been discussed with no resolution a couple of times.
I've had the experience of being blocked due to interactions with another editor who has heavily invested into this article. We stay away from each other when we can, but my editing will increase our interactions. IF you will be there, work with me on this article, I will get right to work. I have the desire, the interest, the MEDRS sources and access to the entire University of Pittsburgh Library System. If not, I don't want the drama. Reply by email if you prefer. The Very Best of Regards,
Greetings, all! We would like to announce the start of the 3rd GA Cup, a competition that seeks to encourage the reviewing of Good article nominations! Thus far, there have been two GA Cups; both were successful in reaching our goals of significantly reducing the traditionally long queue at GAN, so we're doing it again. Currently, there are over 500 nominations listed and about 450 articles waiting to be reviewed. We hope that we can again make an impact this time. The 3rd GA Cup will begin on March 1, 2016. Four rounds are currently scheduled (which will bring the competition to a close on July 31, 2016), but this may change based on participant numbers. There will be slight changes to the scoring system, based upon feedback we've received in the months since GA Cup #2. The sign-up and submissions process will remain the same. We're also looking to spice up the competition a bit by running parallel competitions. Finally, there's a possibility of assisting a WikiProject Good Articles backlog drive in the last three weeks of February, before our competition. Please stay tuned for more information as we get it. Sign-ups for the upcoming competition are currently open and will close on February 20, 2015. Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors, so sign-up now! If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the judges. Cheers from 3family6, Figureskatingfan, Jaguar and MrWooHoo. To subscribe or unsubscribe to future GA Cup newsletters, please add or remove your name to
our mailing list. If you are a participant, you will be on the mailing list no matter what as this is the easiest way to communicate between all participants.

Last December, I invited you to share your views on the value of Wikimedia conferences and the planning process of Wikimania. We have completed analysis of these results and have prepared this report summarizing your feedback and important changes for Wikimania starting in 2018 as an experiment. Feedback and comments are welcome at the discussion page. Thank you so much for your participation. I JethroBT (WMF), Community Resources, 22:47, 8 February 2016 (UTC)
I propose that the name of the article be changed to: Vaginal microbiota. The reasons are many and the discussion is taking place on the talk page. The Very Best of Regards,
