File:WikiCup Medal Gold FX.png | The WikiCup 2010 Award for Pictures and Sounds | |
Awarded to Jujutacular, for outstanding content contributions during the 2010 WikiCup. J Milburn, Fox and The ed17 00:09, 1 November 2010 (UTC) |
The 2010 WikiCup is over! It has been a long journey, but what has been achieved is impressive: combined, participants have produced over seventy featured articles, over five hundred good articles, over fifty featured lists, over one thousand one hundred "did you know" entries, in addition to various other pieces of recognised content. A full list (which has yet to be updated to reflect the scores in the final round) can be found here. Perhaps more importantly, we have our winner! The 2010 WikiCup champion is Sturmvogel_66 ( submissions), with an unbelievable 4220 points in the final round. Second place goes to TonyTheTiger ( submissions), with 2260, and third to Casliber ( submissions), with 560. Congratulations to our other four finalists – White Shadows ( submissions), William S. Saturn ( submissions), Staxringold ( submissions) and ThinkBlue ( submissions). Also, congratulations to Sasata ( submissions), who withdrew from the competition with an impressive 2685 points earlier in this round.
Prizes will also be going to those who claimed the most points for different types of content in a single round. It was decided that the prizes would be awarded for those with the highest in a round, rather than overall, so that the finalists did not have an unfair advantage. Winning the featured article prize is Casliber ( submissions), for five featured articles in round 4. Winning the good article prize is Sturmvogel_66 ( submissions), for eighty-one good articles in round 5. Winning the featured list prize is Staxringold ( submissions), for six featured lists in round 1. Winning the picture and sound award is Jujutacular ( submissions), for four featured pictures in round 3. Winning the topic award is Sturmvogel_66 ( submissions), for forty-seven articles in various good topics in round 5. Winning the "did you know" award is TonyTheTiger ( submissions), for over one hundred did you knows is round 5. Finally, winning the in the news award is Candlewicke ( submissions), for nineteen articles in the news in round three.
The WikiCup has faced criticism in the last month – hopefully, we will take something positive from it and create a better contest for next year. Like Wikipedia itself, the Cup is a work in progress, and ideas for how it should work are more than welcome on the WikiCup talk page and on the scoring talk page. Also, people are more than welcome to sign up for next year's competition on the signup page. Well done and thank you to everyone involved – the Cup has been a pleasure to run, and we, as judges, have been proud to be a part of it. We hope that next year, however the Cup is working, and whoever is running it, it will be back, stronger and more popular than ever. Until then, goodbye and happy editing! Uh... yeah so you just deleted my Steve Zella page. You obviously have no idea who he is and are not aware of how much he means to me and my community. So if I may politely ask you, could you not delete his page like 5 minutes after I create it? Thanks.

Er... Why did you delete my inclusion of Fleury's affair with Weatherburn? It was the subject of one of Weatherburn's pieces and as such is one of the greater occurrences in 18th century British musical history. I view this as blatant homophobia! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.237.79.115 ( talk) 04:34, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to close an FPC nomination with a script is insignificant next to the power of the Force. [...] I find your lack of article replacements disturbing. (See Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope if that was confusing.) Anyway, I've made the mistake a million times too. With the script, we'll need to remain vigilant to make sure everything gets covered. I've already caught myself forgetting to add the FP tag a few times. Thanks again for all your work on the script! Thank you. Was getting really tired of being called names and slandered over having a non-matching opinion. Wolfstorm000 ( talk) 03:59, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
Dear J
Curious that you can be the sole fascista responsible for deleting an article whose subject I am quite sure you are not even qualified to vet.No doubt this kind of action enlarges the subjective estimation you have of your (small) member. You would be better advised to respond to one of those many emails that promise to do that physically, and let the larger community decide the value of the article that is over your head. Cease and desist. 64.134.238.103 ( talk) 05:25, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
Hi Jujutacular,
Could you have another look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chaz Clemons and your close please. I admit I messed up the page with my chopping and changing, but as it stands I count my nom, a weak delete and two keeps which I don't believe sit with the consensus at WP:NSPORTS. I would think it needed relisting for further discussion. Cheers, Bigger digger ( talk) 14:23, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
You deleted a page for possible copyright infringement. I WROTE THE WEBSITE AND THIS INFORMATIONAL SHEET ON HIM, so there is zero copyright infringement. Please put the page back up, and perhaps stop being so rash. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Indiesf ( talk • contribs) 01:34, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Hey, it passed! I have to admit, I didn't think it would make it. Thanks for the nom. BTW, what does EV stand for? Cheers, -- JaGa talk 23:14, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Hi, I've just used CloseFPC for the first time, to close your nom (see above). It worked great! Thanks for putting so much time and effort into the script. (And thanks to Makeemlighter for finding some bugs already, it was all smooth for me, :p).
I'm also here to nudge you about the Befreiungshalle nom. I was about to clear old closures when I realised that this is about to move off the page, and the closure is still not resolved. Although I didn't argue you asking PLW for his opinion, I don't see what else he could do apart from restate his support for the set only. Were you banking on him changing his mind? It's also been 11 days since he last edited, and I don't feel we can continue waiting. Think we need to have this either definitely promoted or definitely not promoted before the Signpost starts gathering the new featured stuff for the next edition and before Goings-on is archived. Although I don't personally feel that this should be promoted, I realise that I opposed and some may feel I'm pushing a personal agenda (no matter what the numbers say—and it is very close). Perhaps you'd like to open this for comment on FPC talk? Thanks, :) Maedin\ talk 19:57, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
I'm confused. Please confirm my assumption that this was not in the end promoted. Tony (talk) 14:52, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Juju, thanks for the tip on the leading pic at F and A. On another matter, is it possible to force the top three pie charts at the Election report to stay horizontally aligned irrespective of one's window width? I know we spoke about this a while ago, but I find it all a bit hard. Tony (talk) 02:22, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
I see that you've enhanced the script so that the FP tag is added to the image. Excellent! Two questions for you. Does the script use the "Name of nomination" for anything but New featured content and FP Thumbs? Also, and forgive me if I've asked or you've answered this before, is there something preventing you from making the script edit Goings-on as well? Thanks for all the great work! Hi! After you reviewed my article Alto Vista Chapel this morning, I read your user page and read an interesting article on Mezcala Bridge where you have done some editing. I then decided to expand this article here User:Nvvchar/Sandbox 5. There is this reference [3] which is probably wiki based and which could be used for expansion. There are four imgs in this reference which could also be probably transferred easily to Wikicommons (but I don't know how). We could collaborate to expand this article on my user page and then transfer it to main space for DYK nomination.-- N.V.V. Char Talk . 12:47, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
