Information icon Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Susan B. Anthony, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. Thank you. Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages by deliberately introducing incorrect information, as you did at Davy Crockett, you may be blocked from editing. Binksternet ( talk) 01:37, 5 December 2023 (UTC) reply

I understand you're a senior member on Wikipedia, but what is incorrect in what I added? Davy Crockett had a mixture of Scots-Irish, Anglo-Irish, French Huguenot and English ancestry.
Before keeping allegations, please do not come to conclusions of vandalism. I know how Wikipedia functions as well.

Can you at least indicate that you have read WP:CATDEF? Everything you need to know is there.
The only categories you should add are ones that are commonly associated with the topic, mentioned widely in sources. It doesn't matter if you can trace someone's ancestry with accurate sourcing. What matters is that sources talking about that person commonly mention the category as a defining trait. Nobody puts English ancestry as a defining trait of Davy Crockett. Binksternet ( talk) 03:48, 5 December 2023 (UTC) reply
Also, geneastar.org fails WP:USERG because people can log on and change the information. Binksternet ( talk) 03:51, 5 December 2023 (UTC) reply

Information icon Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Fitzhugh Lee, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. You have been previously warned about adding these superfluous categories per WP:CATDEF. This includes subjects for which you can find adequate supporting citation. A category should be defining before application. We might as well say the subject was an "American mustache wearer." Of course it's true and verifiable, but it's 1) so common as to apply to a large percentage of all male biographies, and 2) not relevant to the reasons the subject draws its notability (unlike his family and his profession). STOP ADDING THESE CATEGORIES or you will be blocked! BusterD ( talk) 04:20, 5 December 2023 (UTC) reply

U.S. Presidential Firsts

This article is really prone to bloating and has gotten ridiculously specific in the past. We generally do 'first to be born in...' but not 'first to govern in...' Feel free to discuss this on the page's talk page. Bkatcher ( talk) 16:34, 7 December 2023 (UTC) reply

I understand, but a millennium change is a huge change in calendar events as it happens once in 1000 years. I think we should add the one for Bill Clinton, but first to govern after a specific war is too specific. it's my suggestion HockeyFanNHL ( talk) 16:37, 7 December 2023 (UTC) reply
No. A millennium change is important to Wikipedia if and only if WP:SECONDARY sources discuss it. Your cited source, https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/statistics/elections/2000, does not say that being the first president at a millennium is important. The word "first" doesn't even appear on the page.
The problem you got into with ancestry categories is being repeated here: You are too eager to add your own interpretation to Wikipedia topics. The problem is described at WP:No original research, which is a hard policy, not open to negotiation. Binksternet ( talk) 20:08, 7 December 2023 (UTC) reply
I've got to chime in with User:Binksternet. Wikipedia really isn't in the trivia business. We're especially not involved in the original research business, as has been pointed out. I don't want to prevent you from editing further, but you need to do some reading and get on the page with the community. There is important work here waiting for you to discover it, and Binksternet & I are hoping you find it soon. BusterD ( talk) 20:50, 7 December 2023 (UTC) reply

Disambiguation link notification for March 20

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited India–United States relations, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Indian. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
