I see that this edit of mine made some unintended changes, possibly because of an edit conflict which I failed to recognize. I was only intending to make the changes impacting (Deady 2005). - With respect to Template talk:Sfn#Enhancement request: new paramer: name: I am still just a newbie here at Wikipedia, and this is well beyond the scope of my current understanding of wiki markup. Therefore, I do not have enough information to either support or oppose your proposal at this time.
- With respect to the Philippine–American War article: edit conflicts are inevitable when several people are simultaneously working in earnest on the same article. I will try to turn my attention to other articles if I see that you are editing this one. I would however like to ask your opinion about the following issues:
1. There are quite a few unreliable sources used as citations in this article. For example, these self-published sources:
- Brunberg, Jon (2013). "Philippine insurrection". The Polynational War Memorial. (self-published).
- Dumindin, Arnaldo (2006). "Philippine–American War, 1899–1902". filipinoamericanwar.com (self-published).
- Constantino, Renato (1975). The Philippines, a past revisited (PDF). Socialist Stories (self-published). ISBN 971-8958-00-2.
2. Too many sources, most of which are used only once or twice. I think we should try to identify which sources are of the highest quality and keep those, while discarding those that are of lower quality. The sources which are high quality but redundant, could relegated to the ==Further reading== section, in case they might be needed for later. ns.
1. I'm not very knowledgeable on reliability of individual sources. As ought to be clear from my user page, I'm not an academic.
- Philippine insurrection should be expunged; internally, it says: "Source: Wikipedia".
- I don't know anystthing about Arnaldo Dumindin. His stuff does seem to be selfpub. I don't recall ever seeing anything in his cited articles which contradicted what I think is mainstream history.
- Renato Constantino is an academic and a popularly published historian whose views as seen in his witinngs are (from memory) sometimes controversial and sometimes even at odds with other well regarded giatorians.

this: " the condition had not yet been described or given the name "PTSD", but it existed nevertheless" is pretty much the definition of OR when dealing with a primary source. It is your interepretation that what is described there, is PTSD. You need a secondary source that says that the 1899 article is discussing PTSD. Introduction to WikiProject Anatomy and Anatomy on Wikipedia
Seeing as we have so many new members, and a constant stream of new editors to our articles, I would like to write in this issue about how our project and articles are arranged.
The main page for WikiProject Anatomy is here. We are a WikiProject, which is a group of editors interested in editing and maintaining anatomy articles. Our editors come from all sorts of disciplines, from academically trained anatomists, students, and lay readers, to experienced Wikipedia editors. Based on previous discussions, members of our project have chosen to focus mainly on human anatomy ( [3]), with a separate project for animal anatomy ( WP:ANAN). A WikiProject has no specific rights or abilities on Wikipedia, however it does allow a central venue for discussion on different issues where interested editors can be asked to contribute, collaborate, and perhaps reach a consensus.
- Project and article structure
Wikipedia has about 5,500,000 articles. Of these, about 20,000 fall under our project, about 5,000 of which are text-containing articles. Articles are manually assigned by editors as relating to our project (many using the rater tool). As well as articles, other Wikipedia pages in our project include, lists, disambiguation pages, and redirects. Our articles are improving over time, and you can have a look at our goals and progress, or last newsletter, to get a better idea about this.
Our articles are structured according to the manual of style, specifically here. The manual of style is a guideline, which "is a generally accepted standard that editors should attempt to follow, though it is best treated with common sense, and occasional exceptions may apply", and prescribes the layout of anatomy articles, most of which follow it.
Our articles are organised in a particular way. Most articles have a infobox in its lead, describing key characteristics about the article. Because we have so many articles, articles are often linked together in different ways. An article tends to focus on the primary topic it is written about. Further information can be linked like this, or piped ( like this). We use navboxes, which are the boxes at the bottom of articles providing links to similar topics, as well as hatnotes. Typical hatnotes in articles include {{ main}}, {{ see also}} and {{ further}}. This lets us link to relevant and related articles. The bottom of articles also shows categories, which store groups of related articles.
- Tools
For interested editors, our project offers a number of additional tools to help edit our articles. On our main page appears a log of the most edited recent articles. An automatic list of recent changes to all our articles is here. We have a list of the most popular pages ( WP:ANAT500). To keep abreast of news and discussions, it is best to monitor our talk page, newsletters, and our article alerts, which automatically lists deletion, good article, featured article, and move proposals. We also have a open tasks page for editors to create lists of tasks that other editors can collaborate with. Articles are also manually assigned to a "discipline", so interested editors in for example, gross anatomy, histology, or embryology can easily locate articles via here.
Our project has all sorts of smaller items that editors may or may not know about, including a barnstar, user box ({{ User WPAnatomy}}), welcoming template ({{ WPANATOMY welcome}}) and fairly comprehensive listing of templates ( here).

We are always happy to help out, and I invite new editors, or for those with any questions relating to how to get around the confusing environment that is Wikipedia, to post on our talk page or, for a kind introduction to questions, at the WP:TEAHOUSE.

Newsletter topic: anatomy and featured articles
I have been asked to write up something introducing the Featured article (FA) process to anatomy editors, but I took a more general approach to explaining why one might want to contribute featured content and the benefits to the editor and to Wikipedia. I also tried to address some misconceptions about the FA process, and give you a guide that is somewhat specific to health content should you decide to take the dive.
A vital purpose of Featured articles is to serve as examples for new and aspiring Wikipedia editors. FAs are often uniquely comprehensive for the Internet. They showcase some of our best articles, and can enhance Wikipedia's reputation if they are maintained to standard—but in an "anyone can edit" environment, they can easily fall out of standard if not maintained. Benefits to the writer include developing collaborative partnerships and learning new skills, while improving your writing and seeing it exposed to a broader audience—all that Wikipedia is about!
Looking more specifically at WP Anatomy's featured content, the Featured media is impressive and seems to be an Anatomy Project strength. The Anatomy WikiProject has tagged 4 FAs, 1 Featured list, and 30 Featured media. Working towards upgrading and maintaining older Featured articles could be a worthwhile goal. Immune system is a 2007 FA promotion, and bringing it up to date would make a nice collaboration between WikiProject Medicine and the Anatomy WikiProject. Hippocampus is another dated promotion that is almost 50% larger than when promoted, having taken on a bit of uncited text and new text that might benefit from a tune-up.
Whether tuning up an older FA at Featured article review, or attempting a new one to be reviewed at Featured article candidates, taking the plunge can be rewarding, and I hope the advice in my essay is helpful.

- Thanks for pointing out my error, MeegsC, and especially for doing this in a polite and constructive way! I took the opportunity to read the relevant section of the MoS, which states
Most captions are not complete sentences, but merely sentence fragments, which should not end with a period or full stop. If any complete sentence occurs in a caption, then all sentences, and any sentence fragments, in that caption should end with a period or full stop.

Hi Dave, you made an edit on how to identify this species comparing it to snowy egret but you did not give a citation for it. Also why only compare it to snowy egret, across most of its range the confusion species would be little egret, including the America’s now, and intermediate egret, as well as more restricted species such as Chinese egret or Western reef egret. - Thank you for pointing this out, Quetzal1964. The great egret has a worldwide distribution, and it should have occurred to me that it may be confused with other species in Europe/Africa/Asia. I have expanded the text and added an inline citation. The paragraph as it stands is far from exhaustive, as there are still other species that may be confused with the great egret. But the little egret and the juvenile little blue heron are so much smaller than the great egret, and the white morph of the reddish egret is so unusual as to be not worth mentioning IMHO. - Thanks for the response. Actually, the little egret is almost the same size as the snowy egret, they overlap in measurements. Snowy egret has occurred in Scotland, the only British record so far, a few years back but I didn’t go to see it having seen them in their native range. Hi Dave: You've hit my watchlist again! ;) When you updated Yucatan woodpecker recently, I think you've defined two different references with the name – "eBird" (or maybe you named one and someone else had already named another one the same thing), which is causing an error message. Can you please take a look and see if you can sort it out? The error that's coming up says "Cite error: The named reference "eBird" was defined multiple times with different content." Idle curiosity moment. I knew that the en-UK and en-US had many differences but the one you "corrected" is a new one to me. The "of" in The term
stampede is usually used of animals that are fleeing a threat
is entirely correct in en-UK grammar. I'll let your version stand, though, as it is more likely to be understood by users of English as a second language. Just thought it might interest you to know that it wasn't some random historic vandalism.

Hi, I declined two of your nominations for WP:CSD#A1, Empire Estates and Equipment Solutions and Chris Utomi Nwabuoku, because both have sufficient context to identify who or what the article is about. That speedy deletion criterion is only appropriate when no reader could reasonably answer "what is this article about?", and is a much lower bar than notability or verifiability. Please make sure you're familiar with the speedy deletion criteria, as their correct use (and avoiding misuse) is an essential part of the new page patrol process, and feel free to ping me if you have any questions. You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

It is a totally new material (aside that some of it is over 500 years old and some about 2000 years old). The book is actually as much about discovery, as much about how the (re) discovery was made (in case if there is ever a movie to be made), and it is also about the original Verrocchio/da Vinci project (not all encompassing, but most prominent and easy to see). Book is fictionalized account that allows for protection of very vulnerable real people, and leaves room for hypothetical statements. You can look up the YouTube channel dedicated to the book. You can search for Beyond a reasonable doubt Igor Chernyavskiy. There are 7 videos, all related to the book. At least three videos cover material the follows from the book, but not covered in it. Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.
Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.
Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.
It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.
Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.
Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.
