Hi, you cannot simply assign "A" to an article. There is a formal process before which it could be rated an A class. The article needs to be a GA before that. Vensatry (Ping me) 06:09, 3 May 2012 (UTC) reply

I just don't know what is the benefit by all these. Sometimes I feel that Wikipedia is destroyed by attacks, and fights over small issues like this make my feelings worse. Probably should I leave Wikipedia? Yes, I admit that I made mistakes, but this does not mean that you guys complaining about me did not make a single mistake. When it comes to discussions, try to keep yourself cool. Did you people do that? Na. Ansuman, let me say a thing: When I make a list of some mistakes you'd made, and discussion gets hot, what would you feel? Never did I have a negative impact from experienced editors like you. Do you have any reply? Look at the discussion and then you feel if it was you towards which it was pointed, how would you feel? Dipankan ( Have a chat?) 11:16, 9 May 2012 (UTC) reply

New Pages update

Hey Dipankan001/Archive 11 :). A quick update on how things are going with the New Page Triage/New Pages Feed project. As the enwiki page notes, the project is divided into two chunks: the "list view" (essentially an updated version of Special:NewPages) and the "article view", a view you'll be presented with when you open up individual articles that contains a toolbar with lots of options to interact with the page - patrolling it, adding maintenance tags, nominating it for deletion, so on.

On the list view front, we're pretty much done! We tried deploying it to enwiki, in line with our Engagement Strategy on Wednesday, but ran into bugs and had to reschedule - the same happened on Thursday :(. We've queued a new deployment for Monday PST, and hopefully that one will go better. If it does, the software will be ready to play around with and test by the following week! :).

On the article view front, the developers are doing some fantastic work designing the toolbar, which we're calling the "curation bar"; you can see a mockup here. A stripped-down version of this should be ready to deploy fairly soon after the list view is; I'm afraid I don't have precise dates yet. When I have more info, or can unleash everyone to test the list view, I'll let you know :). As always, any questions to the talkpage for the project or mine. Thanks! The article List of international cricket centuries by Ross Taylor has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Too few international centuries to warrant a stand alone list. The number as seen with the template {{ International cricket centuries}} is a minimum of 25 international centuries before the individual feat is noteworthy (if that's the right word) for a stand alone list. Taylor unfortunately has 11 international centuries.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Howzat?Out!Out!Out! Good articles and copying within Wikipedia

Hi. :) I just wanted to let you know that there were copyright issues with the article Bangladesh at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games, which constituted a copyright infringement of Tonga at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games. While it is very easy to repair infringement from one article to another, left unaddressed such issues are a quickfail of the GA criteria. I've repaired the issue of attribution here, so it's no longer a problem, but I just wanted to point out the potential issue to you and ask you to keep an eye out for it when assessing GAs. (Generally, you can find the problem just by doing google spot-searches for text, which will find the original, like this one.) I'm off to explain to the contributor the issues with copying and pasting without attribution from other articles. Thanks! -- Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:30, 10 May 2012 (UTC) reply

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, List of international cricket centuries by Younis Khan. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Younis Khan. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Younis Khan - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Bgwhite ( talk) 06:59, 11 May 2012 (UTC) reply

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a search with the contents of List of international cricket centuries by Kumar Sangakkara, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Kumar Sangakkara. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. MadmanBot ( talk) 14:11, 12 May 2012 (UTC) reply

Again bots caught me wrong. It has been attributed to the authors of Kumar Sangakkara. Dipankan ( Have a chat?) 14:18, 12 May 2012 (UTC) reply
You've definitely duplicated the content. I've been noticing this since you created a similar list for Ross Taylor. There is no need for separate article for "List of centuries" as the main article is way too short and list of centuries can be very well accommodated there itself. However, the Younis Khan article is okay as the main article is of sufficient length. Hence, while creating lists make sure that it is good enough to be a stand-alone list and also have the criteria in mind (min 25 centuries). I had a similar problem when I created List of international cricket centuries by V. V. S. Laxman, so thought of notifying you. Vensatry (Ping me) 05:01, 18 May 2012 (UTC) reply

Wikiessay projects proposal

Hi, you proposed a new Wikimedia project, namely m:Wikiessay on Meta some time ago. As you probably know, there is no real process to deal with proposals for new projects currently. It is the aim of the proposed Sister Projects Committee to change that. As a consequence, we would like to see how the proposed m:new projects process works out on proposals by applying it on the 3 proposals which were made this year. As Wikiessay is of those proposals, you can finally expect something to happen there in the next time! :-) Best regards, -- MF-W 20:57, 12 May 2012 (UTC) reply

Replaceable fair use File:Murali Vijay 2012.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Murali Vijay 2012.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{ di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn ( talk) 13:30, 26 May 2012 (UTC) reply

I don't know why Drmies removed the tag; the image is a copyright violation of GUI- Graphical User Interface- You claim the image to be yours while the Windows 7 interface is not created by you, its created by Microsoft. So you are violating copyrights, aren't you? I'd be putting the speedy deletion tag again after this discussion. If you do put; please remove "My own work"; replace it with "Microsoft" fair use rationale and make it low resolution. Dipankan ( Have a chat?) 08:48, 27 May 2012 (UTC) reply
Your tag is still incorrect. I hadn't considered the Windows 7 interface; however, the criterion applies only in unequivocal cases, where there is no free-content material on the page worth saving. All I need to do is crop it and upload a new version. I was using chrome as my web browser, before I modify I wanted to make sure that I am still allowed to leave anything Chrome related in the screenshot. I assume I am able to because Chromium is open source, but I may be incorrect. Ryan  Vesey  Review me! 17:34, 27 May 2012 (UTC) reply
I hadn't mentioned the Chrome thing; I also use Chrome. The thing is that don't claim it to be your own work (you may after you upload the cropped version) because it is infringing copyright from Microsoft. That's all what I said. Cheers. Dipankan ( Have a chat?) 06:16, 28 May 2012 (UTC) reply
