Hi, you cannot simply assign "A" to an article. There is a formal process before which it could be rated an A class. The article needs to be a GA before that. — Vensatry (Ping me) 06:09, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
After your failed nomination of Kolkata Knight Riders you might want to reconsider your nomination of 2011 Cricket World Cup. I'd recommend asking for the folks at WT:CRIC to take a look at the article. Nev1 ( talk) 15:55, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
Hey Dipankan001/Archive 11 :). A quick update on how things are going with the New Page Triage/New Pages Feed project. As the enwiki page notes, the project is divided into two chunks: the "list view" (essentially an updated version of Special:NewPages) and the "article view", a view you'll be presented with when you open up individual articles that contains a toolbar with lots of options to interact with the page - patrolling it, adding maintenance tags, nominating it for deletion, so on.
On the list view front, we're pretty much done! We tried deploying it to enwiki, in line with our Engagement Strategy on Wednesday, but ran into bugs and had to reschedule - the same happened on Thursday :(. We've queued a new deployment for Monday PST, and hopefully that one will go better. If it does, the software will be ready to play around with and test by the following week! :).
On the article view front, the developers are doing some fantastic work designing the toolbar, which we're calling the "curation bar"; you can see a mockup here. A stripped-down version of this should be ready to deploy fairly soon after the list view is; I'm afraid I don't have precise dates yet. When I have more info, or can unleash everyone to test the list view, I'll let you know :). As always, any questions to the talkpage for the project or mine. Thanks! Hey there Dipankan, I had asked you a question at my ER that you haven't responded to, so I thought I'd ping you here. You had indicated that there was work to do in the File: namespace. I'm going to admit, I'm wholly unaware of what can be done to help there. Is there a page of backlogs or what-have-you or another place I can be directed to find out, essentially, what needs to be done to improve there? Achowat ( talk) 18:33, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi. :) I just wanted to let you know that there were copyright issues with the article Bangladesh at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games, which constituted a copyright infringement of Tonga at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games. While it is very easy to repair infringement from one article to another, left unaddressed such issues are a quickfail of the GA criteria. I've repaired the issue of attribution here, so it's no longer a problem, but I just wanted to point out the potential issue to you and ask you to keep an eye out for it when assessing GAs. (Generally, you can find the problem just by doing google spot-searches for text, which will find the original, like this one.) I'm off to explain to the contributor the issues with copying and pasting without attribution from other articles. Thanks! -- Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:30, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, List of international cricket centuries by Younis Khan. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Younis Khan. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Younis Khan - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.
If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Bgwhite ( talk) 06:59, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a search with the contents of List of international cricket centuries by Kumar Sangakkara, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Kumar Sangakkara. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. MadmanBot ( talk) 14:11, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
Hi, you proposed a new Wikimedia project, namely m:Wikiessay on Meta some time ago. As you probably know, there is no real process to deal with proposals for new projects currently. It is the aim of the proposed Sister Projects Committee to change that. As a consequence, we would like to see how the proposed m:new projects process works out on proposals by applying it on the 3 proposals which were made this year. As Wikiessay is of those proposals, you can finally expect something to happen there in the next time! :-) Best regards, -- MF-W 20:57, 12 May 2012 (UTC)
Hey Dipankan001! We've finally finished the NPT prototype and deployed it on enwiki. We'll be holding an office hours session on the 16th at 21:00 in #wikimedia-office to show it off, get feedback and plot future developments - hope to see you there! Okeyes (WMF) ( talk) 03:44, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
Hey, I just wanted to mention that I did !vote as oppose at your RfA, but I do believe that you can become an admin someday if this RfA doesn't work out. I look forward to a time in the future when I'll be able to support you, I just don't think you are ready just yet. By the way, the Jimmy Wales thing on the edit page is a little creepy. I don't think it is too big of an issue, but it does become distracting and it could be difficult for editors to create a well thought out response Ryan Vesey Review me! 05:36, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

I know that your RfA didnt go well and you wouldn't even have succeed. But as you stated in the closing sentence, don't let your spirits down. You'll be an admin for sure in next 1 year or some. You are a kind of editor who would have easily got admin rights in 2006 or 2005, but as the standards of wiki has gone high, it is tough to get through (for example; Education has improved in India, but also it has become tough to get adminssion in your favourite college). So do not worry and keep up the tempo and good work. Also take care that you dont repeate those mistakes and I see you as a very good admin in future → TheSpecialUser Talk Contributions* 07:01, 19 May 2012 (UTC) |

Hey all :). A notification that the prototype for the New Pages Feed is now live on enwiki! We had to briefly take it down after an unfortunate bug started showing up, but it's now live and we will continue developing it on-site.
The page can be found at Special:NewPagesFeed. Please, please, please test it and tell us what you think! Note that as a prototype it will inevitably have bugs - if you find one not already mentioned at the talkpage, bring it up and I'm happy to carry it through to the devs. The same is true of any additions you can think of to the software, or any questions you might have - let me know and I'll respond.

Achowat and I noticed that while Ducknish has 4,000 edits, (the graduating edit count is around 1-2,000) you have not graduated him, Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism_Unit/Academy/Templates (at bottom) and we do not see any evidence that you have helped him/given him advice (by going through your and his talkpage). Can you please stop making these drive-by nominations to GAN/FLC etc as well as incomplete GAN reviews? It is poor form to not communicate with major contributors of the articles and nominate them when you haven't contributed to the articles. And, your GAN reviews are also not well thought out either and don't follow process. — Spaceman Spiff 16:00, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
Hi there! We have organized FA-GA of the month. FA-GA means that we will collaborate and help any 1 article to get promoted to GA status in the next month, June. We have to decide that on which article will we work. So for that I'd love to invite you to share your opinion and express your vote at the page, FA-GA June. At the end of the contest, editors will be given awards by the co-ordinators. We will really like to have an editor like you for our first collaboration. So please do join us! So, I came across your RfA the other day, though by the time I saw it, it was over. Take this positively, please. Relax, stop going around collecting flags. I like you as an editor, and a vandal fighter. You are doing good in those fields, stick to them for now. Relax, but don't think a new right will make you any better. Thanks for uploading File:Murali Vijay 2012.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
{{
di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn ( talk) 13:30, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

I see you've been trying a few of the Pywikipedia tasks out with your main account - that's great, having a little play to see how it works, but do you think you could possibly take out the bot from the edit summary so you don't fool people into thinking you're running automatically? Or create a separate account DipankanAuto or something to do stuff like that on. You're just technically not allowed to do it with a main human account. Thank you!
