From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome to Wikipedia,

Your edit to Sierra Nevada (U.S.) was excellent and perceptive. In all honesty, I have to apologize for not noticing this obvious error that belittled Native Americans myself. You did and you deserve a lot of credit for it. If I can be of any assistance in learning about the Wikipedia culture, please let me know. I hope you will stay around and keep contributing to this great encyclopedia (even though it has many shortcomings). Let's work on reducing the shortcomings. Sierra Nevada pronunciation

I am a local, and I am aware that those folks in the state next to me (e.g., Nevada) pronounce their state Ne-Va-da, rather than Ne-Vah-da. But I would like to verify that the mountain range is pronounced the same way. Can you come up with some reliable sources that discuss the pronunciation of the mountain chain, rather than the state? Such a reliable source should include the pronunciation of people outside of Reno/Sparks/Carson City. — hike395 ( talk) 23:37, 1 July 2012 (UTC) reply

You never responded to this: any luck? — hike395 ( talk) 22:18, 8 July 2012 (UTC) reply
Sorry. I’ve been busy. I found a couple but I wouldn’t consider them reliable. Blackbird5555 ( talk) 19:16, 22 July 2012 (UTC) reply
I don't know if you noticed: I put both pronunciations in, because I can't find RSes that show that the mountain range isn't pronounced the same as the State. Ok with you? — hike395 ( talk) 19:24, 22 July 2012 (UTC) reply
That works. Blackbird5555 ( talk) 19:27, 22 July 2012 (UTC) reply

Chinese Camp CA

I added my image back to the page, its a postmark which provides veracity to the town in its current place and time. Is there another place you want me to place the image??? Otherwise, why remove it? Coal town guy ( talk) 13:42, 3 July 2012 (UTC) reply

Sure. What do I have to do to join? Blackbird5555 ( talk) 19:17, 22 July 2012 (UTC) reply
Hello Blackbird! Just coming across your page again, all these many months later ... Feel free to add your name to the WikiProject page, and take a look at a few of the articles. There are red links to languages with no article at all, which would be easy to start as stubs using Ethnologue (linked on the project page). Djembayz ( talk) 01:37, 15 October 2012 (UTC) reply
