Your Offer for Adoption

Hello. I am MuzikalNotes. You gave me an offer for adoption just yesterday. I will accept the offer. Thanks for offering. And a question: I found an article with a list that is disorganized (no order whatsoever), so should I organize it? And how do you get the 'User is online' thing on the top right corner? -- MuzikalNotes ( talk) 16:03, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Definitely. Also, for the status, I will create that for you and show you how to change the status and everything like that. Thanks for accepting my offer! :) Jonathan Quality, not quantity. 22:52, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. Just send it to me on my talk page. That's the page I check the most. -- MuzikalNotes ( talk) 15:54, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

That is absolutely okay. I haven't really adopted anyone yet, so if you need anything at all, feel free to drop me a line! Bye! JöиÁ †ĥăИ Quality, not quantity. 22:32, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi Jonathan!

I would love to accept your adoption offer! Thank you for offering! Whats our next step? Alysonwonderland ( talk) 02:14, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for accepting! And that depends on what you want to learn, so what do you want to learn? JöиÁ †ĥăИ Quality, not quantity. 02:22, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Well, I guess first, I want to make sure I haven't screwed anything up (so far). Have you looked over the things I've done so far (contribs?) Then, what I want to do is learn how to make a graphically interesting wiki. (not on wikipedia yet, but maybe practicing on some private wikis). I like ARGs and online games, so I've been writing wikis for some of those. I've done some editing inside a few articles relating to geriatric topics (I'm an activity director in an assisted living center). Thanks again. Has anyone ever told you your bathrobe pic makes you look like Arthur Dent? hahahah Alysonwonderland ( talk) 02:27, 20 November 2007 (UTC) oh and tell me how you got that cool "Jonathan" in the lower right corner of your user page.. tres kewl!

That's Dfrg.msc. I don't see anything wrong with your contribs, and you can indent comments by adding a colon ( : ) before your comments. If there's already one, add two, and so on. Bye! Jonathan Quality, not quantity. 02:55, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
One question... is there a way to change the color of the entire wiki page?  :) Alysonwonderland ( talk) 03:44, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
To get the lower right corner thing, add the following code:
<div style="position: fixed; right:0; bottom:0; display:block; height:{{{1|50}}}px; width:{{{1|150}}}px;"><div style="position: relative; width: {{{1|150}}}px; height: {{{1|50}}}px; overflow: hidden"> <div style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; z-index: 2">SOMETHING GOES HERE</div> </div>
Well, for the color thing, do you mean your userpage? If yes, I would be glad to design a userpage for you! Bye! Jonathan Quality, not quantity. 22:10, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed you put up a sockpuppet tag. This user is a sock of User:Everetthighschool and has been targeting the Everett High School article for several months. Just letting you know. He always comes back and vandalizes these pages every few weeks with a similar message. -- Hdt83 Chat 01:17, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for notifying me, and I noticed that you put the "concern" tag (I was thinking about adding it). JöиÁ †ĥăИ Quality, not quantity. 02:19, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Image:Zizzer logo.png

A tag has been placed on Image:Zizzer logo.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image which is not under a free license or in the public domain and it has not been used in any article for more than seven days.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{ hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[Talk:Image:Zizzer logo.png|the article's talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. On the image page, did you mean it is not a fair-use image? If it isn't copyrighted, then fair-use doesn't matter. I (talk) 19:45, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Since we're on the topic of FU images, I thought I'd point out that yes, Anonymous Dissident had an FU image in his userspace, and it should be removed. However, it's usually good form to notify the user and let him remove it, and if he doesn't respond, or edits after you notify him, then remove it. Just a thought. I (talk) 04:54, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

And even more advice! Per WP:UP#Simulated MediaWiki interfaces, and just in general, the fake new messages bar is frowned on. It's not really funny, and it's annoying. You would probably do well to remove it. I (talk) 18:34, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

PayPal

I added information and asked for sources biased on facts and removed puff promotional links that add only an advertisement link to the site and have little value in describing paypal other then to promote it. I added a section that explained that there is sites that do not like paypal and they are not good unbiased sources and links to other like transfer services and one to the parent company and have not vandalised the page. PayPal is not a bank and does not have to adhere to the regulations like the bank status page indicated. Charge backs are not automatically covered or challenged like the page indicated. I added facts from experience and the legal pages of PayPal and have not vandalised the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.189.112.149 ( talk) 17:49, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Do I need a discussion about a railway line that per se does not exist? 90.203.45.244 ( talk) 19:24, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Find a source saying that it doesn't exist and go ahead if you find one. — Jonathan | Quality, not quantity. 19:26, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Jonathan, please see the discussion at WT:RAIL#Cardiff Central to Newcastle line, where 90.203.45.244 explained this action. The fact of the matter is, a "line" article in this context should be about a physical stretch of track, not a service that operates along various different stretches of track (although this subtlety is lost on some contributors), and as such there is no "Cardiff to Nottingham line". For the record, CrossCountry is the name of the operator that provides the Cardiff-Nottingham service, so it is an appropriate, if not ideal, redirect target.
Also, please check carefully before describing any edit as "malicious": remember to assume good faith. Not every anon editor is a blatant vandal! -- RFBailey ( talk) 19:34, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
As RFBailey says, this ‘line’ is simply a service, operated by the company CrossCountry, which runs along several different lines, all of which have their own names. Though a new editor has created several similar articles about this company’s routes, they are both redundant (they simply mix information from the CrossCountry article and the articles on the genuine physical lines) and misleading. Bosnian Genocide

It is my first request for a mediation, ( Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2007-11-23 Bosnian Genocide), so I hope it is not a case of the blind leading the blind :-) -- Philip Baird Shearer ( talk) 19:11, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

I think it is time to protect the page from new edits while the mediation process is ongoing. Of course which ever version you protect will be the " The Wrong Version" -- Philip Baird Shearer ( talk) 19:49, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

I can't protect. Jonathan T@C 23:43, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Jonathan, I represent one of 'involved parties', in the Bosnian genocide article dispute. However, to simplify your mediation on this matter I would suggest that you compare the merits of the two versions of the article which are proposed by the respective 'sides' of the conflict. In my opinioin, I believe this would help you structure the process better.

  • PBS and my version here
  • Dragon of Bosnia and Grandy Grandy's version here.

Your signature

Hi Jonathan,
I notice your signature has non-latin characters. As you can tell by my signature, I'm all about making it look pretty- however yours will not display correctly in certain browsers (mine included) and is actually an accessibility issue for users that use aids that cannot understand non-latin characters, like screen readers. You might consider finding other ways to jazz it up. Thanks and have a lovely weekend! l'aqúatique talktome 01:56, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ups-logo.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Ups-logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot ( talk) 20:29, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Nominating Slipknot's 4th album for deletion???

Ahem, can you please tell me WHY? There are plenty of sources! The album IS going to be recorded, we will need a page for it anyway! This is completely pointless. The theories you guys present is completely absurb. If this album is AFD, then why not just go ahead and do that for ALL of Wikipedia's future album entries?

I want to know why this is such a touchy issue. It really shouldn't be. Dark Executioner ( talk) 23:29, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Dark Executioner

December 2007

Ahem, Ginta's page was 2/3rds plot, the majority of the article! Wikipedia, as shown in WP:PLOT, is against letting plot cover the majority of an article. All I had simply done was remove the plot, and was about to add more about personality and the character (rather than what he did) when I recieved this message. If you also refer to any other articles I merged in the last 24 hours, the Marchen Awakens Romance character pages are almost entirely plot, and we give more articles to normal characters than main characters who deserve it, and thus I decided to merge them. If you look at the merges, they can be put into 2-3 paragraphs and still have all the information the article listed in a shortened version. Please be civil. Jonathan ( T@C) 17:57, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
I do not mean to insult you, but I fail to see how I was being uncivil. I was simply stating facts, what I had done, and why I did it. To me, an example of being uncivil is not "I am going to have to disagree with you here.", but "I hate you, go away.". Artist Formerly Known As Whocares 21:22, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
