Plan to revert

Hi Straightliner,

I plan to revert [ this edit you just did and I wanted you to know and also know the reason. I think that McVeigh is already described as a terrorist. The conspiracies were that somehow there was some sort of Islamic component to the terrorism. -- Blue Tie 02:43, 17 April 2007 (UTC) reply

Hi Blue Tie,

Um, I don't know how this system works yet so I'll just say it here. What were the Islamic components to the bombing that relate directly with "Islam"? "Islam" is not the word to describe politically active terrorists in a Middle Eastern country that claim to be performing these acts in the name of that religion. (That's the actual context provided for the article, but it's overgeneralized.) By "Islamist theories," the title is suggesting the attacks performed relate directly with the religion Islam. That is hardly the case, and this context is misleading. The bombing has nothing to do with the foundations of the religion of Islam, it has to do with the political association of Islam in the 20th century. That specific context was intended. This is why I changed "Islamic and Neo-Nazi conspiracy theories" to "Terrorist and Neo-Nazi conspiracy theories."

I won't change it again, but if you disagree, please be sure to consider my reason for changing the title. I just don't think "Islam" is the best word to use in that title - it's just muddling the areas between religion and political activism. And although an interesting subject, it has no place in that specific section of the article. Everything related to Islam in there was strictly political, not religious. -- Straightliner

I will reply later... but I wanted you to know I saw your message. I am pleased to discuss this with you. We may find a better title together. -- Blue Tie 03:27, 17 April 2007 (UTC) reply

Sure, looking forward to it -- Straightliner
