Decline reason: I'm sorry, we already know that Jay Turner uses at least one other
sockpuppet account and I see you have made no contributions to Wikipedia with this account. As we have no way of validating that you are not another sock, I cannot lift the autoblock at this time. —

Actually, the account name is in violation of
WP:USERNAME as well, as it is a promotional name. I'm going to go and block this account under those grounds. --

But given that you have not contributed to any articles, we have no way of knowing that. You are free to email [email protected] from an email address issued by your ISP, requesting that this autoblock and/or direct block be lifted. Note, though, that the account name is in violation of username policy, as outlined below. --

Yes, and that's why this is an inappropriate username. --

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because of concerns that the chosen username may not meet our
username policy.
This is often not a reflection on the user, and you are encouraged to
choose a new account name which does meet our guidelines and are invited to contribute to Wikipedia under an appropriate username. If you feel this block was made in error, you may quickly and easily appeal it - see below.
Our username policy provides guidance on selecting your username. In brief, usernames should not be offensive, disruptive, promotional, related to a 'real-world' group or organization, confusing, or misleading.
If you have already made edits and wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name you may request a
change in username which is quick and easy. To do so, please follow these directions:
Add {{
unblock-un|your new username here}} below. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page.
At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
Please note, you may only request a name that is not already in use. The account is created upon acceptance – do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change since we can far easier allocate your new name to you, if it is not yet used. Usernames that have already been taken are listed
here. For more information, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username.
Last, the automated software systems that prevent vandalism may have been activated, which can cause new account creation to be blocked also. If you have not acted in a deliberately inappropriate manner, please let us know if this happens, and we will deactivate the block as soon as possible. You may also
appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an
administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the
blocking policy).
I am not advertising my band, becouse it is not found near words like Click here, blah, blah, blah, It's just my Username I use for all my sites, coincidentally also the name of my band. --

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the
guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Note that not only is this username the name of the band (thus in violation of our username policy) but this user's signature includes a link to the band site. --
Yamla (
talk) 19:15, 12 February 2008 (UTC)reply
The username is clearly promotional. You have expressed a desire to write an article on your band. Until it was pointed out to you, every time you signed your name, you linked to your band's website. The very name is identical to that of your band and your use of it serves to promote your band. Another admin will be by in a while to review your block but I'd be really stunned if it was lifted. --
Yamla (
talk) 19:28, 12 February 2008 (UTC)reply
Yes. Though you'll have to wait out the autoblock. No reason to request a name change, you have no contributions in article space so it will be faster to remove your outstanding unblock requests and just create a new account tomorrow. --

Per Yamla, just create an account when the autoblock expires. It should expire about 24 hours after the last time that Jay uses that IP address.
