Ok, I have had a talk to an employee of the Wikimedia Foundation (over IRC) about a way to get around this issue, and he explained that the only way to allow these images would be to have the copyright holder send a letter to the address given here. The letter would be to the attention of Cary Bass (the employee I was talking to) and would have to look something like the example given here- the copyright holder would need to explain who they were, that they were happy for their work to be licensed under the GFDL and exactly what they were releasing under the license. If the copyright holder is happy for images in other books to be released, they can mention them on the letter as well. I'm afraid that unless this letter is sent, the images will have to be deleted. Good luck in getting the letter sent off, and thanks for sticking with this issue and understanding my concerns. If you have any questions or issues, you're welcome to contact me on my talk page. While I'm glad you've placed the image up, it still doesn't indicate who the author is, which is absolutely necessary for a GFDL image! Can you please input that information? Otherwise some of the images may be deleted (in particular I've tagged File:1955 at condon's.jpg). Thanks. Magog the Ogre ( talk) 20:35, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
