July 2012

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Some of your recent edits, such as those you added to July 12, have been considered unhelpful or unconstructive and have been reverted or removed. The article that you edited has notability guidelines for the addition of events to the list. Refer to WP:DOY for details on what are acceptable entries in Wikicalendar articles. Thank you. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 00:48, 13 July 2012 (UTC) reply

If you feel that the event is appropriate per the established guidelines at WP:DOY, please engage in discussion at Talk:July 12 so that consensus can be reached as to the inclusion of the event. Inserting the event again without discussion to consensus will be treated as vandalism. If you have questions please ask. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 01:01, 13 July 2012 (UTC) reply
I just saw your note on my talk page. Your note doesn't seem to infer that you understand the guidelines for inclusion in the event list. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 01:02, 13 July 2012 (UTC) reply
I re-added the event per Article 4 of Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries which states that all selected anniversaries are to be listed in the main page for that day. Was that not correct? Randall.H.Wood ( talk) 01:09, 13 July 2012 (UTC) reply

Edit conflict. Some of this answer doesn't address your most recent message.

In response to your question here. There is a guideline that explains what type of events are appropriate for inclusion in the date articles. That guideline is at WP:DOY. That guideline also applies to the selected anniversaries that are found on the talk pages, but those are much less visible and are therefore not as closely scrutinized. Many events get added that don't belong but with very few people watching them, some get through.

I encourage you to be very careful with trying to insert what you want against consensus. You are currently at three reverts on that article and could be blocked from editing immediately on that basis. Please discuss things. As a show of good faith, I ask that you remove the event and engage in a two way discussion so we can come to an understanding. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 01:15, 13 July 2012 (UTC) reply

To quote the article that you mention above "The event and the selected article (bolded item) needs to be listed in the Events section of its corresponding day-of-the-year article, and therefore should also comply with the criteria for inclusion listed on Wikipedia:Days of the year."
You're reading that backwards. The event should only be listed in selected anniversaries if it is already on the events list on the date page. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 01:17, 13 July 2012 (UTC) reply
I understand the guidelines. However, I did not add that event originally, and if you look at who removed that event, you'll see that someone was censoring out something they did not wish too see (a disco fan removing references to hatred of the music). This event has been included in this list for (I think) three years ( http://en.wikipedia.org/?title=July_12&diff=prev&oldid=301881799).
Have you engaged that editor to see the reasoning for removal rather than coming to your own conclusion that it was censorship? Remember you must assume good faith. It doesn't matter how long the event has been listed. It was noticed as inappropriate now. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 09:27, 13 July 2012 (UTC) reply
