The Wesel Rail Bridge article needs a substantial amount of rewriting, and it needs correction of rotten links and more inline citations. There are associated articles, such as 371st Engineer Construction Battalion and Bombing of Wesel in World War II, and even Wesel, Germany. The book I mentioned above gave plenty of details about the German General Alfred Schlemm, who was defending Wesel but responsible for 9 Rhine bridges, including the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen.
I am going to leave the rewriting of any or all of these articles to you. I did some updating to the 371st article a few minutes ago. There is some excellent information online, aber auf Deutsch, but I can puzzle that out with my high school German. The Rhineland book has some excellent maps at the back. I started a new section on this article for ease of communication. -- DThomsen8 ( talk) 14:58, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Oh, I have the same fear that I am about to get criticism, or someone wants to delete something I worked hard on, but often it is something interesting, or a request for help, or better yet, a barnstar that I did not expect. I was expecting the GOCE barnstar, though, and I will move it over to my user page. I saw someone else with barnstars on the user page, and I am doing likewise. (Monkey see, Monkey do...) On the other hand, an editor from a particular project sent me four times in a row within about 5 minutes, don't update the class or importance of his project templates. That was harassment, but I just let it go. Better to log off, go to bed, and decide what to do in the morning. In the morning, I decided to let it go, but when I really, really want a class or importance on that project's templates, I have a buddy on Wikipedia who is far more active than I am on that project, and I ask him, via email, to do the settings for me. -- DThomsen8 ( talk) 01:18, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

I appreciate your work on wiki. Thanks for touching down on Petit-de-Grat, Nova Scotia. I have put alot of work into Father Le Loutre's War wiki page and am wondering if you might look at it to clean it up and make any suggestions for me to improve it.-- Hantsheroes ( talk) 07:23, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
Great copyediting. Much appreciated.-- Hantsheroes ( talk) 09:24, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Something is wrong with the references for Benjamin Franklin Bache (journalist). Also, there is now a very large addition, but perhaps not well worded. Please take a look for me. -- DThomsen8 ( talk) 00:11, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
I am copyediting two high schools. One of them has a very brief academics description, and then many athletics subsections listing years of championships, with plenty of inline citations. I am considering chopping those lists down. I have already deleted some peacock words. As an experienced copyeditor, I value your advice. -- DThomsen8 ( talk) 00:01, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
I have been asked to review the Royal Oman Police article, but right now I have many real life obligations, and I am reluctant to do very much on Wikipedia. However, I was amused by the ROP camel band photo. They appear to be playing bagpipes! -- DThomsen8 ( talk) 12:26, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Guild of Copy Editors May 2011 backlog elimination drive update
Greetings from the
Guild of Copy Editors
May 2011 Backlog elimination drive! Here is your mid-drive newsletter.
![]() So far, 54 people have signed up for the drive, and 33 are actively participating. If you signed up for the drive but have not participated yet, it's not too late! Try to copy edit at least a few articles. Remember, if you have rollover words from the last drive, you will lose them if you do not participate in this drive. If you have not signed up for the drive yet, you can
sign up now. If you have questions about getting started, feel free to
talk to us. Many thanks to those editors who have been helping out at the
Requests page. We currently have 17 articles awaiting edit.
We are making slow progress on achieving our target of reducing the overall backlog by 15%; in order to accomplish this goal we will need to complete about 400 more articles. However, we are making good progress on the 2009 backlog, as we have eliminated over half of the articles from 2009 that were present at the start of the drive. Let's concentrate our fire power on the remaining months from 2009; leaderboard awards will be handed out for 2009 articles this drive. Thank you for participating in the May 2011 drive. We hope it will be another success! Your drive coordinators – S Masters ( talk), Diannaa ( Talk), Tea with toast, Chaosdruid, and Torchiest |

Hello Wikifiers! Sorry this Newsletter is late, It should have gone out a month ago. I've been very busy in real life and didn't have time to get over to the newsletter. In this edition of the Newsletter, we have an editorial written by our new executive coordinator; Guoguo12. Guoguo12 has succeeded Mono due to an indefinite wikibreak. We also have the results of the February and March Mini drives. Happy Wikifying, Sumsum2010, the assistant coordinator of WikiProject Wikify |

Guild of Copy Editors May 2011 backlog elimination drive report
Greetings from the
Guild of Copy Editors
May 2011 Backlog elimination drive. Thank you for participating!
![]() There were 63 signups for the drive; of these, 45 participated. Although we did not award a bonus for articles from the Requests page this drive, we are not experiencing lengthy delays in getting the articles processed. Many thanks to editors who have been helping out at the Requests page and by copy editing articles from the backlog.
During the month of May we reduced the backlog by approximately 10%, and made remarkable progress on eliminating articles tagged from 2009. There are now only 15 articles left, down from the 415 that were present when the drive started. Since our backlog drives began in May 2010 with 8,323 articles, we have cleared more than 54% of the backlog. A complete list of results and barnstars awarded can be found here. Barnstars will be distributed over the next week. If you enjoyed participating in our event, you may also like to join the Wikification drives, which are held on alternate months to our drives. Their June drive has started.
The six-month term for our first tranche of Guild coordinators will be expiring at the end of June. We will be accepting nominations for the second tranche of coordinators, who will also serve a six-month term. Nominations will open starting on June 5. For complete information, please have a look at the election page. Please feel free to contact any coordinator if you have any questions or need assistance. Your project coordinators are S Masters ( talk), Diannaa ( Talk), Tea with toast ( Talk), Chaosdruid ( talk), and Torchiest ( talk). |

![]() | Hi there! You are receiving this message because you are a participant of WikiProject Wikify. After the retirements of our first two executive coordinators, Mono and Guoguo12, WikiProject Wikify is undergoing a period of transition. We are currently holding a discussion to create a plan for the future, find volunteers to help fill our many administrative positions, collect any feedback about what has happened in the last six months, propose some new guidelines, and see if there are any creative ideas to increase participation. We appreciate your input! |

July 2011 Backlog elimination drive! Here is your mid-drive newsletter.
So far, 45 people have signed up for the drive, of which 30 are actively participating, a very high participation rate. If you have not signed up for the drive yet, you can sign up now. If you have questions about getting started, feel free to talk to us.
Progress has been less than that needed to meet our target for the drive (which would reduce the backlog by about 400 articles). Remember though, if everyone copy edits one or two articles every day, we will easily meet our goal. Many thanks to those editors who have been helping out at the Requests page. Reducing the number of articles on this list has been a major success of this drive. Thanks for participating! Your drive coordinators – Diannaa, Chaosdruid, The Utahraptor, Slon02 and SMasters |

Guild of Copy Editors July 2011 backlog elimination drive report
![]() Greetings from the
Guild of Copy Editors
July 2011 Backlog elimination drive. Thank you for participating! Here is your end-of-drive report.
50 people signed up for the drive, of which 39 participated. Thanks to all who copy edited articles and helped us reduce the backlogs in both the total articles and requests. We offered a bonus for copy edits from the Requests page, and have been somewhat successful in reducing that backlog, as a record 89 new requests were received in the month of July.
During the month of July we reduced the backlog by 338 articles, or by about 8.5%. We did not reach our goal of a 10% reduction, but we came close, and did very well considering the small size of the group participating. Since our Backlog elimination drives began in May 2010, we have reduced the backlog by 4,708 articles. End-of-drive results can be found here. We will be handing out barnstars within the next week or two.
Please remember that the GOCE Requests page is receiving a high number of requests, with the number of August requests already above three per day. Any assistance to help keep the backlog down would be greatly appreciated. Our next drive will be in September. We hope to see you there! The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their September 2011 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy editing backlog. The drive will begin on September 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and will end on September 30 at 23:59 (UTC). We will be tracking the number of 2010 articles in the backlog, as we want to copy edit as many of those as possible. Please consider copy editing an article that was tagged in 2010. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". See you at the drive! – Your drive coordinators: Diannaa, Chaosdruid, The Utahraptor, Slon02, and SMasters. |

Guild of Copy Editors September 2011 backlog elimination drive update
![]() Greetings from the
Guild of Copy Editors
September 2011 Backlog elimination drive! Here's the mid-drive newsletter.
We have had 55 people sign up for this drive so far, and 31 have participated. If you have signed up but have not yet copy edited any articles, please consider doing so. Every bit helps! It's not too late to join the drive if you have not already done so. Another great way to help out is to watch-list the Coordinators talk page and participate in the ongoing development of the Guild.
So far, we have reduced the backlog by 75 articles, or about 19% of our goal. We have also cleared January 2010 off of the queue and are close to clearing off February and March. If each participant were to copy edit two articles from February and March 2010, they would be completely eliminated from the queue.
Several concerns have been brought up this drive about the usage of rollover words. Rollover words only count if they're from the previous drive. For example, if you received 1,000 rollover words in March and didn't participate in May, your rollover words return to zero. This is to encourage participation in multiple consecutive drives. Your drive coordinators – Diannaa, Chaosdruid, The Utahraptor, Slon02 and SMasters |

Guild of Copy Editors September 2011 backlog elimination drive report
![]() Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors September 2011 Backlog elimination drive! We would like to thank all who participated in this drive. Here is the end-of-drive report.
There were 58 editors who signed-up for this drive, of which 42 participated. This is a slight increase from the July 2011 drive participation, where 39 out of 50 people that signed up participated. Thank you to everyone!
During the drive, we reduced the backlog by 146 articles, or by about 4%. Overall we did well, especially considering the exceptionally large number of articles that were tagged during September. Thus far we have reduced the copy edit backlog by 4854 articles, or by about 58%. If we keep up our current rate of copy editing, the backlog should be reduced by 65–70% by the end of this year. End-of-drive results and barnstar information can be found here. Barnstars will be handed out this week. Once again, thank you for participating in the Guild's September 2011 Backlog elimination drive! Our next drive will be in November, and we hope to see you there! I have revised an entry on the ARS project page and posted it on the ARS talk page, but it occurred to me that a librarian might have another entry. These are potential sources to use when an AfD is being rescued, and better sources are needed. Note that there are no Wikipedia articles for NewsLibrary (but one is needed), nor for Library of Congress Authorities (but that entry could be added to the Library of Congress article). Any advice or comments?-- DThomsen8 ( talk) 13:58, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
I signed up for the GoCE September Drive, and did not do even one article. I was too busy with 3D matters and other efforts on Wikipedia. Maybe I will join the November Drive, and contribute after November 8th. -- DThomsen8 ( talk) 14:01, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
