I think its wonderful that you have been pulling together some good sourced information on things like sales figures, development budgets, marketing budgets, etc. for many older video games. I encourage you to keep adding this information to the individual pages for these games. Its really quite wonderful! Unfortunately, trying to use these spotty figures to try and identify broader industry trends is just not possible without diving into original research and questionable speculation based on incomplete sources. Therefore, I have been reverting your edits to the "x year in video games" articles because most of these charts end up misrepresenting sales figures (conflating sales figures over a small period of time for full-year figures, using lifetime figures for single-year figures, mixing and matching worldwide and regional figures together, etc.). They also make original research assumptions that many of these games are top sellers, top grossers, or most expensive without a reliable source explicitly saying so and without the comprehensive retail tracking that would be required to support these claims even existing in the first place. If you have any questions or concerns, I would be happy to discuss the issue further, but the edits really do violate a host of policies and create numerous factual distortions and must be deleted. Please don't take this as an indictment of your overall contributions to video game articles, which have been outstanding. Indrian ( talk) 09:15, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

All hail the maestro of sales citations. It is a real achievement to orchestrate even more major insight into the notability of an ancient and already-"good" subject like Super Mario Bros. I sure hope you have a subscription to WP:LIBRARY as I do for stuff like ProQuest and EBSCO so let me know if I can help with that or any other citations. There are a lot of other users who pore over dead trees if you have any outstanding mysteries to submit to the brain trust at WP:VGRS. |
Thank you, Smuckola! I very much appreciate it. Also, thanks for the suggestion. I still haven't used WP:LIBRARY yet. Any advice on how to make good use of it? Maestro2016 ( talk) 23:10, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
Hey there. I don't know if you missed my post on Talk:Ace Combat regarding the notability of Air Combat, but I did a source-by-source analysis on each citation used and came to the conclusion that it simply isn't notable. So I was very skeptical at the fact you tried turning the article for Air Combat 22 into a series article, even though sources don't discuss this as a group, said series has only two games, and only one of them is notable (possibly, haven't done a proper check). I don't really understand your logic behind this, maybe you could elaborate? Namcokid 47 17:16, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

Since you've been putting a huge amount of work into this, do you think you have enough to make a separate article on electro-mechanical/EM Games? The history section at Arcade game could be taken in full to a new article (leaving behind a brief summary, focusing on key titles like Periscope), but I do wonder if there's enough outside of the history that can be discussed, just like in principle what an EM game typically consists of. As you've been the lede to add to that, I would say this is your call. It's not required, but it certainly is possible. -- Masem ( t) 16:19, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Coming back to this, given how much you've been able to expand on EM game's history, I've gone ahead and so far COPIED the content from arcade game to Electro-mechanical game (and smoothed an intro for that), so if you can summarize down the EM history section on Arcade game to maybe two-three paragraphs (keeping in mind everything you're already wrote is kept at the EM game page) that would be helpful. I could take a shot but you seem to have the familiarity in that area. -- Masem ( t) 16:02, 27 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi! You asked why I deleted some information from the Steel Talons page: Every arcade video game was shown at a trade show. All of them. That’s how companies get operators interested. Steel Talons being announced there is not unique or interesting on its own. Also, “showcased” is a peacock word; it just means “shown.” If there’s something specific worth mentioning then please do. Hey Maestro! saw your addition on the AOT page. I've been meaning to look up AOT revenue so we could add it on the highest grossing media page. As i think it definitely has gone past the 2B mark or at least close to it.
Does Hakuhdo count the media for the IP? meaning counts manga as well? In Oricon's power ranking they do similar lists like this https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-12-29/top-selling-media-franchises-in-japan-2015/.97051
but it also counts manga revenue on there.
As for merchandise this is the most diffcuilt and hidden aspect, Worldwide has almost zero data and Japan we can know by Charabiz's data but i cannot find sites with 2013+ data and beyond. Especially for the AOT peak years. WillsEdtior777 ( talk) 21:18, 19 March 2022 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Hello World (film), it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. Centcom08 ( talk) 23:04, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

Your recent editing history at List of films by box office admissions shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Hey. I've checked the franchise numbers and there's quite a few mistakes that add a couple billion.
in the Home entertainment section: Hakuhdo content is counted despite it counting everything from manga to music. Same with Home entertainment media sales in Japan during 2013–2018 using Oricon's list. these aren't home media. To find home media sales we need to get the sales from somianithing and multiply it using the BD or DVD price. It is likely counted in the Toei financial statements already however. Do u know any box office admissions for the page List of highest-grossing films based on video games P+T
Hi Maestro2016 - let me start by saying thanks for the awesome info you found on arcade performance for Daytona USA. That's some really good stuff there, and it's a huge improvement to the article. I did want to let you know, though, that I had to remove all the URLs that were shared. The reason I did was because of WP:COPYLINK - we can't link to a source if we can reasonably suspect their posting is violating someone else's copyright. It's highly, highly doubtful that RetroCDN has permission to share these magazines. That being said, the magazines themselves are still great sources without the links and they're by no means required, but if you'd like to find links to share for these refs, consider using the Internet Archive, which also has whole issues of magazines and is usually considered acceptable because they possess a DMCA exemption. Thanks! Red Phoenix talk 02:32, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
