Dicklyon, I hope you realize your error regarding the "and the date" clause of your four tildes explanation. As far as I understand Wikipedia's wiki syntax, two dashes -- are required for a date-&-time stamp. Therefore a syntactically correct "date-&-time stamp" + "
signature" would be --~~~~ --

- I believe the info in Template:Welcome is correct, that four tildes are all that's needed. Where does this idea about a pair of hyphens come from? Dicklyon ( talk) 06:30, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
From the wikipedia editor itself and I have uploaded and included a screenshot as it was rendered on a MacBook Pro 13 inch mid 2012 model running macOS Sierra 10.12.1 and Safari 10.0.1 with the default "skin" for wikipedia's style.
