Heya, Sureshmaran ( talk · contribs) is adding a lot of spam to various articles like Sengunthar, Mudaliar, etc. I engaged him in discussion and proved him wrong at least 3 times. I believe he also uses aliases and alternate accounts like Pallavacholasengunthar ( talk · contribs) and Chola_and_sengunthars ( talk · contribs). Also, he spawns duplicate articles like Chola and sengunthars (a dupe of Sengunthar). Recently, he deleted a whole section of the Mudaliar article [1]. Can you warn him or give the article some kind of protection? If you cannot address these issues please direct me to the appropriate authorities who can help alleviate my concerns?

Hi, I am a fairly new editor and I guess I had misconceptions of what goes to afd and not. Your comments on all mine are 'not the place for merge'. Where can I find such a place? I only added academic colleges of universities which in themselves are notable while the larger university IS. I was just following practices at WP:N and WP:UNI. 16x9 ( talk) 15:31, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
I saw some of your recent afd comments in which you said that afd is not the place to request mergers. That's all nice and well, but you might like that add that things that aren't independently notable can be suitable encyclopedic content in the context of a larger article (thus supporting a merge). - Mgm| (talk) 23:44, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, TF
I stumbled across
Riverside High School (Launceston)
AfD and made a few edits before you tidied them (for which, my sincere thanks), and added your ref. The whole thing looks very
pointy to me. An article has been tagged, then post facto, reasons for the tag have have had to been found. In my opinion, the majority these are simply casuistry.
The Tasmanian secondary education system is unusual in Australia in that
most government "high schools" are in fact grade 7-10, and the highest level of secondary schooling is grade 11-12 "Senior secondary colleges." The deletionists are, of course, correct in their assertion that (a) any high school is not automatically notable, and (b) as 7-10 schools are not the highest level of secondary schools, they fail
notability criteria unless they are notable in and of themselves. Were this to applied with any kind of rigorous consistency, most Tasmanian 7-10 state schools (and most non-state 7-10 schools) should be
speedied, and all of the Tasmanian Senior Colleges should have their notability scrutinised.
I have contributed to the AfD, but consensus will and must prevail. If the consensus results in a delete...
I seek your advice - as an Admin and a member of
WikiProject Schools - about where to go from here. Your help and guidance sincerely appreciated!

I'm in agreement with you that high schools are inherently notable, and you usually do a great job in defending those articles when they're nominated; indeed, I give you the credit for articulating the arguments that, in 2007, gave the high schools inherent notability treatment on Wikipedia. For that reason, I'll have to say that I am surprised if you believe that this Australian 7th to 10th grade school is similar to an American high school. To a lesser extent than the U.S. and Britain, the U.S. and Australia are still separated by a common language. What they refer to as a "college" is what we call a "high school" -- their colleges serve the function of being the school district's highest level of education and confers what we call a "high school diploma", but what they refer to as the "certificate of education". Anyway, I hope you won't take offense (or offence) at my making this observation. Best wishes. Mandsford ( talk) 02:06, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your contributions to the Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys. Most of the information you have added is fantastic and you have preserved the page on Wikipedia for the future, for which I am personally grateful, having added much information to it in the past. However, the information you have added about Ofsted is wrong, as I think on a couple of occasions throughout the page, you have referred to the wrong school. I corrected the address for the school a couple of days ago after having seen a slightly inaccurate address, and obviously this must have been the address of the school you have on occasion incorrectly referred to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jackarias ( talk • contribs) 12:59, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Just curious, since when are places automatically "controversial" when it comes to their deletion? Sutton Spring Wood clearly and uncontroversially presented no claim to notability and as such does not belong on Wikipedia. It's a small neighborhood of five houses that claims no historical or literary significance. While the guidelines for notability of a place have not actually been adopted yet (and probably won't be for quite some time), there's no way in a million years that this article would pass any eventually adopted form of them. No secondary sources, nothing more than five houses, and no significance to anyone. It even claims itself to not be known to those who live close by. If that's the case, why would anyone ever go to Wikipedia looking for it? Anywho, since you disagreed with it being prod-able I've taken it to AfD. If you want to share your two cents, it's here. I have a quarrelsome past with this user on a completely unrelated matter and would rather not open another venue. I have concerns about some of the specific wordings of the proposal and frankly think that WP:N is best suited to cover the notability issues but agree with the suggestions of redirecting to districts and localities when insufficient sources exist for an article. Hi, could you move this to a better title, please, as 'Reorganizative' won't do. I suggest either Portuguese Workers' Communist Party or, preferably, as I think this is what most anglophones call it, PCTP. Ah, yes, there is already a redirect from that. Thanks - Rothorpe ( talk) 14:38, 13 February 2010 (UTC) - Just remembered, there's a category too: Category:Communist Party of the Portuguese Workers / Reorganizative Movement of the Party of the Proletariat politicians.
Just seen this. Category has disappeared, so okay. Rothorpe ( talk) 15:44, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Hi, could you change the above so that it redirects to Cat instead of Feral cat, please? - Rothorpe ( talk) 17:06, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Right, thanks. Rothorpe ( talk) 14:47, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

For great dedication in finding citations for the formerly unreferenced article SMK Green Road in the middle of an AfD and thus fixing the article, rather than let it be deleted. - Ahunt ( talk) 02:47, 6 April 2010 (UTC) |
