Hey, how's it going? I am about to write an article about a dredger (the Mallard II) which is currently (not even started) at User:JPxG/Draft24. Would you be able to tell me what you think when I've got it a bit more put together? I don't want to miss out on any important information, but I'm not familiar with writing articles about watercraft. Cheers, jp× g 10:34, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

Hello:
The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article SS Edward L. Ryerson has been completed.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
You'll notice I added "Upper" to "Great Lakes" which is more accurate. I assume the ship never sailed on Lakes Erie or Ontario.
Before you submit the article for FA consideration, there are a few things that need to be fixed, which appear to have been missed during the GA assessment.
This sentence - "She is one of only two American-owned straight deck lake freighters, the other one being the 1958-built freighter John Sherwin." - appears in the lede but not in the body of the article. It should be included there with a citation.
A work by Tom Wenstadt is cited throughout the article. This work is self-published, which does not necessarily mean it is unreliable. However, if you can cite the same information with "traditional" sources, I suggest you do so. (See: Wikipedia:Identifying and using self-published works)
One obvious question not covered in the article is the total cost of building the ship. Is that figure available? The ship has been sitting unused for 13 years. The article does not say so, but I assume that other (foreign) sources of cheap steel have devastated the U.S. steel industry and there is no need (or a dramatically reduced need) for iron ore. Perhaps you could expand on this? I assume you found nothing to indicate any future plans for the ship?
Those are all the issues I found. Best of luck with the FA when you get to it.
Regards,
Twofingered Typist ( talk) 12:58, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
I've been responding to a very thorough FAR of this article. A question arose on sourcing the coordinates of the sunken ships, which I noticed that you added. Could you tell me where you got those from? Any answer is cool. For example, if you derived them from the Brown map I think I could just note that and keep them. Thanks. Sincerely, North8000 ( talk) 23:02, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

GreatLakesShips. I just finished copy editing SS Cayuga. Terrific article. Most of my edits were smaller, style and grammar stuff. One big edit - I took a lot of content out of the lead section in accordance with WP:MOS/Lead Section. The editor who awarded the article a well-earned GA status pointed out that the lead needed to be more concise; I agreed with him. Nothing was lost; all content remains in the body of the article. Nice work!I enjoyed reading and editing it. I also added the article to the disambiguation page. Cleveland Todd ( talk) 19:43, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

On 14 April 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article SS Chester A. Congdon, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the freighter Chester A. Congdon became the largest financial loss to date on the Great Lakes when she wrecked in 1918? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/SS Chester A. Congdon. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page ( here's how, SS Chester A. Congdon), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hi -- I saw your ping, here, for Dudley, but it won't have worked. Pings don't work unless you add the ping in the same edit that you sign. The easiest way to make this one work would probably be to completely remove the comment, then readd it in the next edit. Mike Christie ( talk - contribs - library) 11:48, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi! Sorry for the reversion of the edits on the S.S. John V. Moran DYK nomination page. I was just looking at it and did not know I even undid anything. I am still new to Wikipedia, so I clicked on it because I was looking at the DYK nomination process, specifically Yoninah's contributions, and I guess I accidentally hit something that reverted it. Again, so sorry about that, I did not mean to do anything. RGreen (BYU) ( talk) 19:28, 5 October 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for your revision of my edit on the Barge 129 page - I had erroneously thought that the Choctaw, Andaste, and Yuma were all included in the usual count of 44 whalebacks, but turns out although they're monitors, the final design wasn't directly from Alexander McDougall. I believe you originally made the steam locomotive one, which I've updated and move to User:UBX for hosting.
You will see it listed at Wikipedia:Userboxes/Rail transport#Locomotive types, along with userboxes by another editor I updated.
I've also moved the other steam locomotive userbox into User:Tbf69/userboxes/LNER Class A4 4468 Mallard in my own userspace. Sorry 👌. - Tbf69 🛈 🗩 22:30, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
Hi -- I took a look and would be happy to review it again, but I wanted to check a couple of things with you first. I see you managed to find replacements for steamboatstories.ca, which is great. I also see that all the newspaper stories cited to MHGL are now cited to the papers themselves, which is also good to see. However there are still many citations to this page, which is one of the sites we'd like to replace. Can anything be done about that?
