I am a little surprised that you accepted the article from AfC in the style it was in at the time-- unless you meant to immediately edit it to the minimum standard. WP should certainly have an article on every notable academic, but, equally, WP is not intended to contain academic CVs and press releases. Since I often work on these subjects, and since he is very clearly notable, I rewrote it--please compare the versions. DGG ( talk ) 04:33, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

In the Assimilation part, i think the content is quite misleading and confusing. The Vietnamese people intentionally have adopted Chinese culture in term of clothing, language, traditions, politic system for thousands of year, not from Chinese immigrants, same things to Korea and Japan. Also the reference doesn't represent any idea related to Vietnam? Who gave in? I request a modification to this section. Ho Cam Dao is undoubtedly Sino-Vietnamese pronunciation, no different to other Sino-Vietnamese vocabularies. Sino-Vietnamese vocabularies dominate 60- 80% of total Vietnamese vocabularies. This edit was a clear violation of WP:BLANKING, WP:OWNTALK, and WP:DRRC. There are specific exclusions reflecting items that cannot be removed, and warnings is not one of them. When an editor removes a warning from their talk page, it is an acknowledgement that they have received and read it. Restoring it is seen as an attempt to humiliate the editor by forcing them to display the reprimand as a "badge of shame". Please do not do that again. -- 76.189.109.155 ( talk) 17:34, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

I very much agree with your assessment. However, I think there is just about enough room for the possibility that it is a kid who wants to contribute, and needs encouragement to settle down, for me to take a friendly warning and then wait and see line. My talk page message, while intended to be friendly, does contain two warnings of possible blocks, and I have every intention of keeping an eye on the editor, with the block button available when needed. I find that 85% of times when I do this sort of thing, the result is that the editor very soon makes one or two more vandalism edits, and is blocked. In that situation the indef block is really unquestionable, and won't be overturned by another admin. Very little has been lost by giving the editor a chance which they didn't take. Another 10% of the time the editor never edits again, so it nothing at all has been lost. The remaining 5% of the times, the editor takes the point, stops vandalising, and we get one more constructive editor on board. Taking this line is thus a net positive for the project.
One more point. The fairly low-level silly editing is certainly not the sort of thing that justifies an immediate jump to a level four warning. Loads of times I have seen AIV reports declined in this sort of situation because an administrator thinks that the user has been inappropriately warned. Also, as far as I am personally concerned, I am much less likely to block the user for his or her next vandalism edit with the level four warning in place than without it, because the user has not been given a chance to take on board a friendly message and reform. Although I did not post one of the standard template warnings, my message included two warnings that continuing the same stuff might lead to a block. A warning which mentions the possibility of a block is, as far as I am concerned, a level three warning, whether or not it comes in a templated level three message, and, following those warnings, I will be perfectly willing to block this user for just one more vandalism edit. I think that your warning is at best unnecessary, and at worst may even be counterproductive, and I would encourage you to consider reverting it. JamesBWatson ( talk) 09:18, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
I have just seen your edits at User talk:Atthaftheband. Even though you posted a {{nao}}, you should not have declined the unblock request. Your comment was, of course, perfectly valid, but you should have posted it underneath the unblock request. Whereas a non-admin post at one of the admin noticeboards does not prevent anyone else, including an administrator, from seeing the thread and contributing, declining an unnblock request has the effect of removing it from the list of pending unblock requests. This is likely to mean that no administrator ever sees the request at all. On this occasion, not only did I see it, but Bwilkins had already seen it and reverted your edits, so no harm was done, but there is no guarantee that that will always happen. The drop-down box containing the texts to post to decline or accept an unblock request is headed "Administrator use only", and it really does mean what it says. JamesBWatson ( talk) 09:36, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

And just taking the opportunity to ask, are non-admins allowed to decline AIV reports, especially stale ones or those that are insufficiently warned or not vandalism, as long as we use the non-admin observation template and we use the "thinking" of a WP admin? Hello. I want to start by saying that what I intend to write should not be taken as criticism in any way, but only as information for future use. BTR-80 has a long standing problem with overenthusiastic users from Bangladesh who keep adding totally unrealistic, and totally unsourced, numbers, claiming that the Bangladesh Armed Forces have thousands of BTR-80s, when in reality they have a bit over 100, almost all of them earmarked for peacekeeping operations and paid for by the UN. So I have reverted the edits made by User:Mnakash today, both because the reference he/she provided is not a reliable source and because not even that unreliable reference supported his edits. "Militaryforces.asia" is a brand new bloglike website, launched 2 June, 2013, that until yesterday had an email address at Yahoo as its contact email, and that doesn't say where their information comes from. Making it worthless as a source since it could all be just made up. In addition to that the link provided by Mnakash to militaryforces.asia didn't support his claim about 600 BTR-80s, and in fact mentioned no numbers at all. Making it a faked reference, and technically vandalism (for which he has been warned). And that is typical behaviour for the nationalistic/youthfully enthusiastic users from Bangladesh who almost daily try to sneak in their overinflated numbers in the article, trying all the tricks in the book and then some. Vandalism that is the reason why the article is PC1-protected. Cheers. Thomas.W ( talk) 15:55, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
Hey!
Following our win against Philippines U23 in a Friendly Match that have just ended a few moments ago, I have found out that we do not have a wiki page of our nation's U23 team. The wiki link of our U23 team on our Singapore national football team wiki page brings us to Courts Young Lions, the Courts Young Lions wiki page was also wrongly classified as the National under-23 football teams of Asia (AFC).
The nation's U23 team should instead be referred to the SEA Games squad and also the friendly squad the coach has picked because not all of the players are from Courts Young Lions. For eg, goalscorer, Safuwan Baharudin for the game earlier on.
Hence, I am thinking of opening another new wiki page about the nation's U23 team and am wondering if you want to help me out as well!
Let me know what you think!

UAC isn't a real gang it used to be a clique around here called looney tunes who were a sub-set of the Neighborhood Piru bloods at the time. Omarion is said to have been from that sub-set as a kid by locals who know him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.237.154.17 ( talk) 01:59, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

The number of !votes do not measure whether or not actions should be done; it is to be based on the argument's merits. You are also WP:INVOLVED in it; so closing is usually a bad idea. If this was a contentious action you could have found yourself in a bit of hot water as some of your actions in that discussion can be seen as problematic; like the repeated tallying. We are currently running a study on the effects of adding additional information to SuggestBot's suggestions. Participation in the study is voluntary. Should you wish to not participate in the study, or have questions or concerns, you can find contact information on the SuggestBot study page.
IMPORTANT CHANGES: We have modified the selection of articles SuggestBot suggests and altered the design to incorporate more information about the articles, as described in this explanation.
Note: All columns in this table are sortable, allowing you to rearrange the table so the articles most interesting to you are shown at the top. All images have mouse-over popups with more information.
We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:
The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly, your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please let us know on SuggestBot's talk page. Regards from Nettrom ( talk), SuggestBot's caretaker. -- SuggestBot ( talk) 23:27, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
