Hey Earl! I noticed you made a change in the {{ infobox curling}} template, but it caused a error, so I reverted it. Is there something specific that you were trying to get the template to do?
Also, the GA nomination for Sandra Schmirler is on hold, and one of the queries that the reviewer had is that the article is categorized under "Canadian people of German descent" and "Canadian people of Norwegian descent," but it's not sourced or anything. Do you know where that could be found? Thanks! Prayerfortheworld ( talk) 22:10, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
Hi! I am worried about the Jamie Sinclair article. I just had to mark the two inline citations as {{Dead Link}}. This leaves the article very light on verifiable content. I am aquainted with Jamie and would hate to see her article get axed by the Wikinazis. Let's see if we can locate some better information on her. I will watch this page, so go ahead and replay here. During the month of April, Wikimedia Canada is preparing the National Contribution Month, and we are looking for experienced contributors to organize a contribution day (or half-day) in their region.
Contribution days are activities where Wikipedia's contributors, students, or anybody interested in contributing to Wikipedia meets together to collectively improve a predetermined theme. This meetings generally take place in library where references are easy of access, but can be organized in any communal room. Beside improving articles, a goal of this participatory workshops is to initiate neophyte in the cooperative contribution of Wikipedia.
If you are interested in organizing or participating in a contribution day in your region, communicate witht he national team on the project's talk page. The exact agenda of each local event is left to the discretion of the organizer. Help is available for the organization from contributors who already organized these type of days, so don't be worried. If you have any questions or want more information, don't hesitate to contact us.Benoit Rochon ( talk) 00:59, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

I've been watching the Canadian Women's Curling Championship since 1994. Nova Scotia has been wearing navy blue and white every year I've watched. Secondly, IMHO, having black lettering on blue backgrounds is difficult to read. :-) And I also was correcting geographic mistakes and extraneous information – ie. there's only one Toronto in Canada and everyone knows it's in Ontario, and most people know the difference between Saint John and St. John`s. – Jwkozak91 ( talk) 01:45, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Aside from curling I also do quite a bit of editing of badminton articles. Recently a new editor, User:The tampan, has somewhat drastically reorganized pages with a new bracket design, including re-editing competitions which have been completed for sometime. This user has not provided any rationale for the new design even though myself and one other editor have reached out for an explanation. The Wikipedia:Wikiproject:Badminton group is not as well organized as Curling's equivalent so it is difficult to reach a consensus. What should be our next course of action? I am considering undoing all of The tampan's edits to Super Series articles (which are numerous) and leaving a message on the SS pages not to tamper unless a consensus can be reached for a change. Another option is to temporarily block The tampan from editing, but that seems overly harsh for someone who started editing on January third of this year.-- MorrisIV ( talk) 20:22, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

Hey Earl! I noticed your edit on the infobox. That's the way winners of the world mixed doubles championships have been listed in the past, so I was just following that convention. It's acceptable if you consider that the "lead" plays the first (and last) stone and the "second" plays the "second stones." I'm not sure if you had another idea as to listing the winners in an infobox, but I thought that was a reasonable way. Prayerfortheworld ( talk) 01:34, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
Hi Earl, it wasn't until your recent additions at Demographics of Ottawa that I finally clued in to what is obvious to many in Ontario – that the City of Ottawa's 2001 amalgamated boundaries are coincident with its census division (former regional municipality) boundaries, which is why/how the history growth of the city in its current boundaries can extend back to atleast 1981. It is unfortunate that the city's reference doesn't state that pre-amalgamation populations are based on the census division/former RM boundaries, leaving us to assume the 1901-1991 populations are based on the 2001-onward boundaries. I was able to validate the 1981-1991 numbers from StatCan. The next time I go to the library for a census research binge, I'll test the assumption for the 1901-1971 censuses and replace the city reference with StatCan corresponding references, just as I did for the population history of the city based on its former boundaries. Hey Earl! I just noticed that there's a little bit of a problem in the order of the medal templates in the infobox. If we group the results by medal country/province (as it is in Kevin Martin (curler) and Cathy Overton-Clapham), the world juniors go before the nationals, even though the order is different in the order in the AG. Whether it's in the electoral district's article or a separate article about the byelection is not the question. Under WP:BLP, no article about any election is not allowed to contain any biographical information at all about anyone who would not qualify as notable enough for their own separate article. That means no biographical sketches about unelected candidates, no offsite links to their own campaign webpages and on and so forth. You're allowed to add content about the election, if there's anything meaningful to say — but the article is not allowed to contain biographical information about the candidates. Bearcat ( talk) 03:14, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
It is important to understand that Wikipedia has had a lot of problems over the years with biographies of living people, so the rules for that type of content have had to be tightened up a lot — we now have to be extremely judicious about protecting people's privacy rights as much as possible. I know of at least one case where somebody actually did use a candidate's entry in one of the lists as a venue for grinding axes about a personal disagreement that had no encyclopedic relevance, for instance — so the potential for harm is why the rules about BLP content are much stricter and more rigid than you might have gotten used to in the past.
