Hi. I saw your query on Bhadani's talk page, and could not resist giving a go here. I hope you would not mind. :) The government's policies for reservation are highly controversial, given that the public in India is very very sensitive to public policies. Many of the people here (in India) believe that the hiking of seats and reservation for the OBCs (Other Backward Classes) is only a political ploy to attract votes, while the government insists that the OBCs are econimically backward and they need the government's help. There have been mass protests against this proposal by the government. There are anti-policy demonstrations all over the country (which have been widely covered by the media). I personally, believe that reservations will only reduce the quality of the students that are churned out of the system, because due to all this the students who do not deserve to be a part of an institution would get in without merit due to reservation through their castes. And also that, the creamy layer system has not been established by the government, that keeps economically good classes at bay from the OBC reservation. Hope you find this helpful! -- Andy123 talk 12:11, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi. Nice job on the flag updates. However I wanted to let you that it was my intention to do the squad pages not only as rosters but also as final rankings since the groups format is on the regular World Cup pages but the final rankings are not. The final rankings are a seldom seen curiosity I had hoped to provide as adouble to the lineups. Let me know what you think, since it was my intention to do all the squad lists from 1930-62. Witam. Pozdrawiam Bartekos 13:31, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

I saw the picture of Paul Bremer you uploaded.
Personally, I like to give the URL to the page that contains the pic, as well as the URL to the picture itself. I include the original caption on the image page too. I see it as a courtesy to the photographer, who may not have any rights, if they were a federal employee, taking the picture as part of their job. But, as a courtesy, we can still give them credit.
In addition sometimes a .mil or .gov site will liscense a picture from an external source, and we don't have a liscense to re-issue those under a free liscence. -- Geo Swan 22:33, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

I was wondering what category you would suggest for conservation-based NGOs - I just added Pointe-à-Pierre Wild Fowl Trust, and there's the Asa Wright Nature Centre - so there now are two of them. I'm not sure what most countries use - either then could go into a Conservation in Trinidad and Tobago cat, or they could go, together with the Scouting article into a "Civil Society"/Organisations cat (not sure if other countries use something of the sort). Any thoughts? (Sorry to see the result in the Ghana match. I'm quite conflicted - I like the Czech Republic and hoep they do well, but I'm always happy to see an African team do well. Hope you beat Italy convincingly - my wife says I have to support USA, so I am hoping for the Czech Republic and USA to get through, though I would be ok if Ghana got through instead of USA). I am more-or-less a novice with some of the advanced functions of the Wikipedia (as are most of the other participants of our project), so someone with your experience would be a huge asset to the project. As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Hi, yeah, I personally do think Category:Muscovites should be renamed to Category:People from Moscow. Many of the non-American categories in Category:People by city are inconsistent with each other (some use demonyms, some use "people from", some use "natives of"). So far, the American categories seem to be the only ones that users have proposed for renaming to a consistent non-demonym "People from foo" form. I think all the others should be renamed as well as all the city categories should use the same naming convention. -- musicpvm 22:27, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi Darwinek,
That's certainly a sensational view! Image quality is great apart from the banding in the sky, however I'm not too sure many people will like the top and bottom white border. It makes it look more artistic, but I'm not sure if a lot of people on FPC will appreciate that. Once cropped it may prove to be too low res compared to
this. But, have a go! I personally think it reflects badly on the review process on FPC when people are nervouse to nominate something. And I don't want to bore you with a rant, but recently I've become distressed with the lack of community spirit on FPC. All that aside, I think it's definetly worth a try. Good luck! --

Hi, Darwinek! The answer is no, not really. All Russian cities/towns should have at least substubs written about them, so what you are doing is quite useful. While I appreciate that you're willing to contribute to Bitis gabonica and other viperine articles, I found it necessary to remove your last edit as it had rendered that statement inaccurate. Specifically, you were editing information that I had gleaned directly from McDiarmid et al.'s 1999 publication "Snake Species of the World: A Taxonomic and Geographic Reference, vol. 1", in which it does not mention that B. gabonica occurs in Ethiopia. If you know of a source that does mention Ethiopia as part of the range of this species, I would very much appreciate that you would add that to the article, but as a separate statement -- and please, please cite your reference! Personally, I have at least six books citing ranges for B. gabonica and none of them mention Ethiopia, so I'd be very interested to know who said that and whether it's just a report of a single specimen or not.
Regarding your edit to Bitis gabonica rhinoceros, in this case only the addition a few "Fauna of <country>" links, I'm suddenly not so sure we should be so confident in the case of Togo, despite the fact that it is currently stated as being part of the range in the article. Specifically, I just found a line in Spawls & Branch (1995) stating that Ghana and Togo are at the eastern limit of the range of this subspecies, and that they begin to intergrade here with B. g. gabonica (I'll add this information to the B. g. rhinoceros article). The distribution map supplied by Spawls & Branch indicates that the general range for B. gabonica does no include Togo (or Benin for that matter), but that there have been reports of specimens found in that area. These two countries (and at least eastern Ghana) are part of a larger region known as the Dahomey Gap; a relatively dry region that separates the rainforests of West Africa from those of Central Africa, as well as the two subspecies of B. gabonica. I think it would therefore be safer not to add the "Fauna of Togo" category to either of the B. gabonica articles. -- Jwinius 23:22, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for sharing the photographs, but that's definitely not B. gabonica. It's
B. arietans, the common puff adder! Looks look a juvenile too. Even so, bites from specimens this size have been reported to be very painful. Here's a better photo of
B. arietans: note the distinctive series of chevrons down its back and the light crossbar between the eyes over the top of the head: no other species in Africa are like that. --

And, is it more appropriate than the Indonesian?? Perhaps it would help if the language was stated (as it should have been with the Indonesian). I already made the map for each Syrian governorate, but I made the maps before each governorate had its own article. Well I expected someone to ask me that, it was about time someone did. I did so to simply add the Arabic script my friend. I agree, thanks for your welcome message.
You're absolutely right, I need to spend more time
reading all of the pages you suggested.
There's a lot there, and a lot of suggestions
burning to be typed as I'm browsing, so I've just been
going for it (mostly on talk pages) as meekly as possible.
and trying to make the official pages a regular part of that browsing.
Again, thank you for your kind welcome.
I'm sure I'll see more of you around here.

Ahoj Darwinek, how are you? :) I want to ask you for a favor. Could you, instead of adding the Arabic template, directly add whatever articles needing the script to my talk page. This will save a lot of time and effort, as it gets rather tiring to edit the talk page of every article, especially with my pathetic connection. It would also be a quicker method. Hi, again, I had a question about something I'd done
to a userbox template, but decided that it's not worth
the time or effort to be bothered about it. Sorry for
fooling with your talk page, you can see the original question
in the history, I suppose.
Thanks again for your welcome.

Thanks for your reply. I've read the page that you mentioned a number of times in the past.
I thought I'd 'be bold' and do something apparently useful.
After I posted my original question to you I had my first look at that topic's 'discussion' page. (a bit late) After a few minutes of reading this and a few related pages I decided that this whole thing is just not worth my time.
I've decided to return the three userboxes I migrated and wash my hands of them. I came to realize that I really don't care if I have any userboxes or if they are delted. I also realize that I have already spent an inordinate amount of time on my userpage
I am just going to just remove userboxes from my page as I really don't want to have anything to do with it (neutrality?). I have two infromational designs which I plan to quickly implement on my page without using transclusion.
Neutrality is definitely the way to go on this. I may be taking Neutrality to an extreme.... (?) :-) hahahhaa

Hello there,
I am requesting your help with a user named Downwards (don't worry about the red link, he isn't interested in creating a user box). I have repeatedly try to remove people from both Category:African American basketball players and Category:American basketball players, as the former is a subcat of the latter. However, this user has repeatedly reverted my edits and spurned my questions and comments on his talk page. Needless to say, this is somewhat frustrating and I would appreaciate your help. Thanks-- Thomas.macmillan 15:53, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Yup; thanks for catching that. "Griboyedov" is the spelling used for the title of the article about the eponym ( Alexandr Griboyedov); Britannica uses the y-spelling as well, and google hits for the y-version outnumber the oe-version 2:1. So, all stars are in favor of the move, which I have just completed.— Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • ( yo?); 15:07, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Was the creation of the PZKO also prohibited? Or just others. Thanks for giving me some work! :-) | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 10:24, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi,
I'm just curious as to how you found out about Template:Infobox religious building? I saw that you created several pages using the template. Its not particularly well documented and I'm humbled that others find it useful, especially since I had no idea what I was doing while I wrote it. Thanks. -- Sapphire 07:48, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, and happy new year to you too! -- Mariano( t/ c) 15:02, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Hey. Nice to hear from you -- and to see the lovely, snowy photos of your hometown. Thank you! Wishing you love, Light, joy, prosperity and good health in 2007. Smiles. deeceevoice 21:25, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Would you support the concept of moving the Earhart "myths" to a separate page or article? The reason for my suggesting this is that the main article should be an accurate and scholarly work while the speculation and conspiracy theories surrounding the disappearance of Amelia Earhart are interesting, they belong in a unique section. Most researchers, as you know, discount the many theories and speculation that has arisen in the years following her last flight. Go onto the Earhart discussion page and register your vote/comments...and a Happy New Year to you as well. Bzuk 02:50 3 January 2007 (UTC).
Sorry, I just unarchived your page by accident, I'm a new user, and I'm looking in the recent changes log for vandalism, and without looking, I seen that half of your page had been removed, and I accidently added it back on. Sorry, I really need to look before I leap.-- Rasillon 11:03, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
Okay. I just added some more subcategories to Category:Geography of Massachusetts and put some stuff into them. This gets a lot of things out of the top-level. -- LymanSchool 14:41, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
Hey! I noticed that you put a redirect in the article NK Ljubljana, redirecting it to article NK Factor Ljubljana. That is wrong, as NK Ljubljana is not the same club as NK Factor. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Defy 16:44, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
thanks for reformatting footnotes and sources, i think i got those two mixed up!
Really appreciate all the cleaning up you have been doing to the categories on geography related articles lately. I have only just begun to do the same on some of my images on Commons. Thanks again.-- MONGO 22:25, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Saw your change on Lake Rosebery - yep I was doing a lake not a locality - thanks for that, trying to cleanup some of the tassie articles - are you aware of the new Australian state Wiki projects - Western Australia, Tasmania and Victoria ? SatuSuro 12:53, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

do you have an account at the commons Darwinek? ah I've seen before that you do yes it is a nice gallery :-) since all those synagogue images are PD-old maybe it would be a good idea to move them there to share. it takes a while to do that but I'll help if you want. don't forget to add source info (ideally - who took the photo, when, and the site / collection / book that it immediatly came from) to the image files so anyone can verify that the licensing is legit though they pretty obviously look like they meet these public domain requirements. maybe we can ask the uploader on pl for more info? DVD+ R/W 21:53, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
could you ask Slav to include more source information from now on and update any that are already uploaded if possible? and maybe try and get Slav to start uploading to the commons? sorry to be a pain about this it is just that source info is one of the rules for images afaik. The rv you just did to the nancy grace page. Sorry I was quick on the warning I was trying to answer a phone and do that and hit the warning before the revert.-- Xiahou 00:40, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm now an admin and I approve of your support in my my RfA, which ended with a tally of 117/0/1. I hope that my conduct as an admin lives up to the somewhat flattering confidence the community has shown in me. Thanks for your support in my
not-so-recent RfA, which succeeded with a final tally of (97/4/4)! I've never been able to accept compliments gracefully, and the heavy support from this outstanding community left me at a complete loss for words -- so, a very belated
thank you for all of your kind words.
I have done and will continue to do the utmost to serve the community in this new capacity, wherever it may take me, and to set an example others might wish to follow in. With a little luck and a lot of advice, this may be enough. Maybe someday the enwiki admins of the future will look back and say, "Yeah, that guy was an admin." Hopefully then they don't start talking about the explosive ArbComm case I got tied into and oh what a drama that was, but we'll see, won't we? Surely some of you have seen me in action by now; with that in mind, I openly invite and welcome any feedback here or here -- help me become the best editor and sysop I can be.

I just want to say thank you for catching the vandalism to the Langston Hughes article. I proffer many a "thank you" here on Wiki BUT they are sincere. I make a bunch of stubs on Tongan islands, go to make the category for them... and you've beaten me to it by five minutes! I'm impressed! :) Grutness... wha? 09:37, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Well, that's certainly not incorrect: both Khantia-Mansia and Yamalia are parts of Tyumen Oblast, even though they both are considered to be federal subjects. The way all other city/town templates are done, however, it would make more sense to list them separately, so two new templates would make sense.— Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • ( yo?); 20:56, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for that - I'm not sure why Category:1815 births, Category:1845 deaths (insert correct years anyway) is correct vs upper case B/D but if I got it the wrong way around thanks for fixing it (promptly, even!) Thank you very much for your hard work there. A couple of things that might or might not be obvious from the talk page of the main list - (a) I am in the processs of trying to tag the talk pages with Wp Indonesia stub=yes importance=low (in most cases) (2) We were trying to place a synonym on the first sentence as in Mount Bromo also known as Gunung Bromo or something similar - due to the fact that the dominant tourist guide books for indonesia - the current Lonely Planet guide - and the older Indonesia Handbook - tend to use the bahasa indonesia names of the mountains rather than the english transcriptions - and rather than create separate redirect pages for each volcano -the alternative name is there in the article (or thats how I read the issue from my perspective) - I am not asking you to go back and re-do any of your work - I am just letting you know - just in case you might wonder why I am following down your contributions list ! Also I have a longer project to get as many geographical features tagged so that I can compare with the index to the latest lonely planet guide - sigh... SatuSuro 14:31, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Hello. No problem :), I just love geography and try to somehow "manage" many areas throughout the world. Here are some points regarding Indonesian stuff

Hi Darwinek! About a year-and-a-half ago, you created the first draft of the inclusion criteria for the List of nationality transfers in football. There is now some discussion about some of these criteria at the List of nationality transfers in sport. Could you explain how the criteria came about, if you can recall it? Thanks in advance, A ecis Bravado 00:02, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Hi Darwinek, how is it going? You were absolutely correct about that, as-Salif should be categorized under S. The name was slightly incorrect, I moved it, expanded the article and added references. Oh, I also added the transliterations. As for adminship, well, I don't feel the need for the tools now, and, more importantly, I feel that with a slow connection like mine, I would probably not be a great help in administrative tasks. So for now, I'm not really in to it. :) ← ANAS Talk? 15:54, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that guy is not good for my quest to remain civil! The article seems to be correct, but do tell me if he you need a comment or helpful edit. I reall liked the "notorious i..." part of your comment :D -- Striver - talk 13:55, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

I would like to seek 4 your help regarding the districts of Turkey. The template is proposed as an improvement; it gives a single look among pages that share the same properties. It is easy to find and navigate through information; and the title section summaries basic information. Hope you would help Wikipedia:WikiProject_Turkey/Templates#Districts_of_X_Province. I speak Tongan, but I'm not a native speaker. [User:Tau'olunga|Tau'olunga]] is. He might be a better choice; he's a nice guy, too. But if he can't help, I will. We'd need to see the mysterious material, however. Where is it? Zora 02:14, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I just nominated the article on William Goebel for good article status. It has passed all except the reviewer was not satisfied with the fair use criterion provided for the image of Goebel. I notice that you are the one who uploaded this image. Could you please provide more thorough fair use justification so this article can reach GA status? Thank you!
