THE SOUTHERN CROSS PITCH The Australian Baseball Task Force Newsletter Issue 1 – July 2009 | |
|
This 1st edition doesn't have a whole lot in it, as you can see. At this stage its more of a call to action than anything else: anyone wanting to help out the task force is more than welcome to join in. Even if you don't feel you have something you can contribute, please spread the word to others who might. My intention is to try and put this out once a quarter or so at this stage - assuming anyone's interested in receiving it. If things pick up and there's plenty to put into the newsletter, then it might come out a little more often. The only people that received this who have not specifically requested it are people listed as members of the task force itself. To those people: I'll move you guys to an 'inactive' list if I don't hear back one way or the other, and you won't keep receiving the newsletter after this- I'm using this to poke those that are still active into coming by the task force pages every once in a while. |

Recently a new barnstar has been created for WikiProject Baseball, as a substitute for the {{ Running Man Barnstar}}: {{ The Baseball Barnstar}}. This has given me an idea for the newsletter. If any task force member gives a barnstar to someone for any work that relates to Australian baseball, or if any member receives a barnstar for any work they do, let me know on my talk page. I'll check with the user to make sure they're happy to be listed here (because I know some people don't necessarily like that sort of attention) and assuming I get the green-light I'll put it in the next edition of the newsletter.

Hey Dan027, Would you mind preparing a template for me. I want to write an article about the Northern Territory in Claxton Shield era (1981 to 1988), but I am terrible at reengineering stuff. I cut and paste a template and saved it in my sandbox at: User:Spy007au/Sandbox3. The Territory's colours were black, white & ochre and they were known as the Buffalo's. If you could change the template, I can do the rest. Thanks, Spy007au

I just want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a (belated) Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, that the holiday season so far has been good for you, and that what remains will be just as good, if not better. I'd also like to thank everyone who has been involved with the task force over the last year. I'd ask everyone to keep up the good work, and to invite anyone they can think of to join us: there's always room for more here.

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (
consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot ( talk) 18:08, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Tanti-park-railway-station.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{ non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Bkell ( talk) 17:40, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
The article Baseball Victoria has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your
edit summary or on
the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the
proposed deletion process, but other
deletion processes exist. In particular, the
speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and
articles for deletion allows discussion to reach
consensus for deletion. —

Thanks for uploading File:SydneyShowgroundHomebushBaseball.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
