It seems that the blocking script I used accidentally blocked you rather than the intended target. My sincerest apologies, if I may. And should I make it to Cambridge Bay, I certainly now owe you drink (although I don't make it much further than Yellowknife these days). Although, if you are going to have your block log tarnished, at least it is by someone as distinguished as myself. Once again, mea culpa. --

Following a
successful request for comment, administrators are now able to add and remove editors to the
"event coordinator" group. Users in the event coordinator group have the ability to temporarily add the "confirmed" flag to new user accounts and to create many new user accounts without being hindered by a rate limit. Users will no longer need to be in the
"account creator" group if they are in the event coordinator group.
IP-based
cookie blocks should be
deployed to English Wikipedia in June. This will cause the block of a logged-out user to be reloaded if they change IPs. This means in most cases, you may no longer need to do /64 range blocks on residential IPv6 addresses in order to effectively block the end user. It will also help combat abuse from IP hoppers in general. For the time being, it only affects users of the desktop interface.
The Wikimedia Foundation's Anti-Harassment Tools team will build
granular types of blocks in 2018 (e.g. a block from uploading or editing specific pages, categories, or namespaces, as opposed to a full-site block). Feedback on the concept may be left at
the talk page.
It is
now easier for blocked mobile users to see why they were blocked.

Unfortunately, you have locked the page, but with the vandalization still present. Up until today, the article has had the right spelling, including the full-stop at the end of their name. now it is listed as a style, but that is not right. Please review the band's own website, if you need to delve further (moe.org), or even All Music's listing for the band. I'm not sure what happened, but I think you can fix this. Questions Regarding Dead Links on "List of Commodore 64 games (A–M)"
Hello-
I have been going through all the games listed in
List of Commodore 64 games (A-M) and have been wondering what to do with dead links I find. Not knowing what to do, I have been adding references to
Talk:List of Commodore 64 games (A–M). I noticed that you had deleted one of the articles on here and thought perhaps you can offer guidance. Perhaps the best thing for me to do is simply leave the links dead and stop polluting the talk page? If so, should I add links for games I find (for instance, there appear to be two games called "Crossroads" released for C64).
Rampagingcarrot. I'm not sure what the requirement is for video games. If I find a person has been added to a city as "notable" but is a red link without some sort of reference I would remove it but video games may be different. The one I deleted was a PROD so it could be added back any time.

An
RfC about the deletion of drafts closed with a consensus to change the wording of
WP:NMFD. Specifically, a draft that has been repeatedly resubmitted and declined at AfC without any substantial improvement may be deleted at
MfD if consensus determines that it is unlikely to ever meet the requirements for mainspace and it otherwise meets one of the
reasons for deletion outlined in the deletion policy.
Starting on July 9, the WMF Security team, Trust & Safety, and the broader technical community will be seeking input on an
upcoming change that will
restrict editing of site-wide JavaScript and CSS to a new
technical administrators user group. Bureaucrats and stewards will be able to grant this right per a community-defined process. The intention is to reduce the number of accounts who can edit frontend code to those who actually need to, which in turn lessens the risk of malicious code being added that compromises the security and privacy of everyone who accesses Wikipedia. For more information, please review the
FAQ.

After
a discussion at Meta, a new user group called "
interface administrators" (formerly "technical administrator") has been created. Come the end of August, interface admins will be the only users able to edit site-wide JavaScript and CSS pages like
MediaWiki:Common.js and
MediaWiki:Common.css, or edit other user's personal JavaScript and CSS. The intention is to improve security and privacy by reducing the number of accounts which could be used to compromise the site or another user's account through malicious code. The new user group can be assigned and revoked by
bureaucrats.
Discussion is ongoing to establish details for implementing the group on the English Wikipedia.
Following a
request for comment, the
WP:SISTER style guideline now states that in the mainspace, interwiki links to
Wikinews should only be made as per the
external links guideline. This generally means that within the body of an article, you should not link to Wikinews about a particular event that is only a part of the larger topic. Wikinews links in "external links" sections can be used where helpful, but not automatically if an equivalent article from a reliable news outlet could be linked in the same manner.

CambridgeBayWeather. There's the theory of what this is about – and then there is the reality.
The theory: Acts of Parliament start off as
Bills. Amendments are added / removed which affects the numbering ("note 1" of this in the second paragraph of the lead section) points this out. The thing to look at is the text of clause 9 versus the text of clause 13 which I placed in 2 collapsible boxes on the talk page
diff (bottom of page). A simple matter of
WP:COMMONNAME and
WP:COMMONSENSE.
The reality: The UK is due to leave the EU on 29th March 2019. Imagine if the
Brexit negotiations between the UK and the EU were to break down – "no deal" – the government revealed the plans it has in place for such a scenario last week "What do the government's Brexit "no-deal" papers reveal?" (BBC). Under the "meaningful vote" the government has to go back to parliament and say what its going to do.
Dominic Grieve and pro-Remainers wanted enough time to discuss it properly in parliament before 29th March. All the speakers in
this clip are from the
Conservative Party, Grieve first and between 3.30 mins to 4.20 mins the
Solicitor General,
Robert Buckland speaking on behalf of the government and agreeing to tweak the amendment.
Following
a "stop-gap" discussion, six users have temporarily been made
interface administrators while
discussion is ongoing for a more permanent process for assigning the permission. Interface administrators are now the only editors allowed to edit sitewide
CSS and
JavaScript pages, as well as CSS/JS pages in another user's userspace. Previously, all administrators had this ability. The right can be granted and revoked by bureaucrats.

Sir,
List of highest-grossing Indian films need extended-protection as some auto-confirmed users are making problematic changes. Unlike other film industries, Indian cinema don't have any trusted box office tracking services and collections are often exaggerated. Any merely auto-confirmed fan-account can add content with challengeable references. Recently, user Mollywood.lover (apparently a single-purpose a/c) added a disputed addition ignoring former long-standing discussions against it on talk page. It was after those discussions were cleaned by an archive bot that this user deceptively came back to add it with same challenged references. Similar unverified edits are common in that page.

I have just noticed that this article has been placed under protection because of an editing dispute. I like to point out that me and another editor attempted to edit these articles to remove
Original Research from them, by replacing the information in section Episodes, with an Episode Table. However, another editor disputed this on grounds that they could not justify - rather than use common sense, they claimed there was no condensed episode summary, instead of providing a summary themselves, and claiming that changes should be brought to the talkpage of the article, when the suggestions were being made within an AfD for the article in question. They even had the nerve to give me an edit warning when they were involved in this themselves.
I'm was in the process of sorting out the episode table with condensed episode summaries, per MOS:TVPLOT, last night, and saved it into my Sandbox. I was hoping to finish it off and put it in, so as to maintain the notability of the article was sound, rather than a mess with all the OR in it.

The full award name is "The Seoul Awards" though. See:
https://theseoulawards.com/screening/institution.
1st The Seoul Awards is correct or "The 1st The Seoul Awards" would be correct for the inaugural ceremony. And now that there are two award ceremonies, I rewrote the page
The Seoul Awards like how the main award page
APAN Star Awards contains the main award winners.
Not sure what's the problem with it? — Preceding

Hi, any thoughts about what can be done at
Dussehra (film)? We seem to have an IP hopper there who is insisting on changing the spellings - there have been at least three attempts since yesterday. I've put a note on the article talk but I don't think they're going to see it.
I have checked the existing sources, such as they are, and the spellings of the film name and producer etc as used by me seem to align with them. Indeed, I think we once had an article for the producer using "Hoshing" as the spelling, around the time when people were spamming umpteen articles related to the film, several of which were deleted. -

Sitush (

I would like to request urgent Semi-Protection on this article - some joker of an IP User thinks its funny to return the article to a state where it can be allowed to take in an influx of OR and favour fans of the respective programme, when consensus has swayed towards turning away from that and removing such content.
GUtt01 (
talk) 21:36, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. I will do that, if it is the case. Hopefully the joker will not attempt that. I'll leave a HIDDEN TXT message advising editors not to revert the layout in the Episodes section per consensus over the issues highlighted in a recent AfD of that page and several others for the respective programme. As far as I'm concerned, the table and charts concerning episode results can be altered; the episodes section can just list Episode title, airdate, viewing figures (when available), and the Short Sum for it.

Info/Bio Change For Markle, Meghan a Retired Film And Television Actress
Good evening CambridgeBayWeather.
Do you know anything about a current member of the UK royal family named Meghan Markle? She used to be an actress who was best known as Rachel Zane in the USA Network drama series Suits from June 5, 2011 to April 25, 2018.
On the night of August 30 I went to her talk page and typed a note about getting her info changed but a user told me to refrain from making comments about modifying a page.
Instead of her article saying that she is "an American-born member of the British royal family and a former film and television actress. Markle was born in Los Angeles, and is of mixed-race heritage" it should be changed into "an American member of the British royal family. Prior to her marriage to Prince Harry, she was best known for her role as Rachel Zane in the USA Network drama series Suits from 2011 to 2018. Born in Los Angeles, Markle is of mixed-race heritage."
Another admin who goes by the name of Amory deleted it because she dubbed it as a "spammy threat."
Reply back to me as quick as you can. Source: en.wikipedia.org/w/Meghan_Duchess_of_Sussex
Well I don't see that
Amory or
Amorymeltzer has said anything to you at all. Also what
Safiel was referring to when the said "Additionally, please refrain from making comments unrelated to improving an article on talk pages. "was the "Lastly, tomorrow marks the 21st anniversary of Princess Diana's passing. God rest her soul." comment. They didn't tell you to not make the other request.

There is an open
request for comment on Meta regarding the creation a new user group for global edit filter management.
Technical news
Partial blocks should be available for testing in October on the
Test Wikipedia and the
Beta-Cluster. This new feature allows admins to block users from editing specific pages and in the near-future, namespaces and uploading files. You can expect more updates and an invitation to help with testing once it is available.
The Foundations' Anti-Harassment Tools team is currently looking for input on how to
measure the effectiveness of blocks. This is in particular related to how they will measure the success of the aforementioned partial blocks.
Because of
a data centre test, you will be able to read but not edit the Wikimedia projects for up to an hour on 10 October. This will start at 14:00 (UTC). You might lose edits if you try to save during this time.
Following a
request for comment, the size of the Arbitration Committee will be decreased to 13 arbitrators, starting in 2019. Additionally, the minimum support percentage required to be appointed to a two-year term on ArbCom has been increased to 60%. ArbCom candidates who receive between 50% and 60% support will be appointed to one-year terms instead.
Nominations for the 2018 Arbitration Committee Electoral Commission are
being accepted until 12 October. These are the editors who help run the ArbCom election smoothly. If you are interested in volunteering for this role, please consider nominating yourself.
Query - Do's and Don'ts with Short Summaries of Episode Tables
Hi, could you help me out with something? I want to avoid a rather difficult disagreement on the Short Sums of Episode Tables that I am having with another editor, progress into an edit war, by knowing what Short Sums should be consisting of for a Non-Fiction, Reality Show. My argument is that for episodes of The Apprentice, they should outline key details, give a brief insight of what candidates dealt with and such like, but not giving out specific details - instead, giving a basic description, per WP:TVPLOT. Their argument is that there should be details of specific scenes in the episodes, which I don't agree to, and his recent argument to a reversion I made is to ask why his is not neutral, favouring fans, and why I should act like I want to be "hush-hush" to nonfans of the show.

Could you put a block on this IP User, as I just found out that they have resumed a minor bit of disruptive editing on
Britain's Got Talent (series 8), believing it wouldn't be noticed after having been blocked for a month from August, until near the end of September about over a week ago. They have been making a minor change in information that goes against what is stated by a provided citation - they keep changing the results for two semi-finalists, switching who was 8th and who was 9th in one of the semi-finals, not giving any reason for the change, and clearly not seeing the citation at all and noting that it states otherwise.

Rowley Island
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be searchable, but you can manually look it up using Statistics Canada's
GeoSearch function. If you zoom in to the island, you will see in the middle of it the census block in question. If you click on the block you will see it has a reported population of 62 and 20 private dwellings. The census block that covers the remainder of the island (as well as the Melville Peninsula, half of Baffin Island and other nearby islands) has a total population of 0. --

Thank you for protecting the

However, I noticed that you didn't actually revert the latest vandalism before you protected the page.
Yes, it is generally accepted that the plan at BQR is for Tito Rabat to stay with the team and for Karel Abraham to take Xavier Simeon's seat. But, because Simeon's contract was announced as a 2 year deal in September 2017 (as per the reference), we have to base the table on what has been officially announced. (Also, Rabat's current injury is putting doubts on whether he is able to return).
So, could you revert it so that Xavier Simeon is listed for BQR rather than Tito Rabat.
Thanks. I just protect pages and don't try and for the most part don't try and figure out the correct version.

Your recent article submission to
Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by K.e.coffman were:
This submission appears to
read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a
neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of
independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's
verifiability policy and the
notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit when they have been resolved.

A tag has been placed on
Dr.Prathap Kumar, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the
criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See
section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please
see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by

Yes please delete the main article. If you look in the history, myself and SamHolt6 have actually been having a problem with this editor and their promotional pages. First they created a totally promotional, copyrighted version of this person
[5] and then (on the now recently deleted page) they claim they own the website, indicating a COI. Sam left them a note and moved it to draft but they have now re-created the page (as you can see). Please note that PCL will stop operating the Skylynx service on 11th December 2018.
YVR Skylynx is the name of the new operator that will operate the service from 12th December 2018 and is not related to PCL.
Please can you undo the change to link PCL to YVR Skylynx as they are separate companies.
Note that "Skylynx" brand is actually owned by Vancouver Airport!
"YVR Skylynx" is the new operator and we have won this contract from Vancouver Airport for six years from 12th December- Our website which we have just set up in the last month is

We are not related in anyway. Please can you remove the reference that PCL operates "YVR Skylynx".
