In considering moving Moldovan language to Moldovan (linguistics), I have one major worry: does the self-identifying policy apply to the Moldovan government's position that Moldovan is a " language" ? Even though the vast majority of linguists agree that Moldovan is simply Romanian which has been renamed by the Moldovan government (under long Russian pressure, as is known) , we may have a problem, because the Moldovan government has declared that its official language is to be called "Moldovan" not "Romanian" (at least, at present). Dear Bogdan,
The List of country names in various languages, List of European regions with alternative names, List of European cities with alternative names, List of European rivers with alternative names, and others, have come under attack by a certain Mikka, who, having just stumbled into all these lists, having found them of little use to himself, and having repeatedly ridiculed them and their users, has then promptly filed a petition to delete the lists in question.
Please cast your vote to keep these valuable, informative, and indeed fascinating lists at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of country names in various languages.
Thanks! Pasquale 16:15, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

Hi Bogdan, about that map you added to Albanian language. Um, there is a mistake. It says that in Italy, Albanian is called Arbëríshte. That is wrong, that is what Arvanitika is called in Arvanitika. The Albanian of Italy is called Arbëreshë. Sorry! Rex( talk) 21:09, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

When you get a chance, could you take a look at Lupu's recent edits to Lăutari and his remarks on the talk page? This is a topic where, while not clueless, I am certainly not expert. I am suspicious of what seems to amount to a claim of "the Gypsies have no musical culture of their own", and his strident, argumentative tone on the talk page certainly does not increase my confidence that he actually knows his stuff. -- Jmabel | Talk 07:47, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

You took out the google link from the numa numa entry. Note that this is not ordinary google, it is video.google.com, where people submit videos, therefore the search link for numa numa is essentially a collection of numa numa dances from all around the world. Salut Bogdan.
-- AdiJapan 05:50, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

The image size bug you complained about in IRC yesterday is now fixed. There were two failure modes, one where the wrong width thumb was generated, and one where we expected the wrong height. The second case is completely resolved, but in the first case the thumbnails will need to be regerated. I may build a tool to clean our thumbnail cache to solve that, but until then images will be wrong until they are uploaded again. New images or old images at new sizes will be right. -- Gmaxwell 00:13, 5 December 2005 (UTC)

It does not add a value to the issue or even generate a positive image to the reader. That history of the fact mentioned in the text has already covered in the ottoman page, where it belongs as mentioned in the text. Also, opposition of the Turkish State to the issue is covered under International relations of Turkey. Sure: It's a trick to remove material from the history without having to individually check all the reversions you want to restore. You delete the page, then undelete only the revisions you want to keep deleted. You then move those to a different place (i.e., Jimmy Wales/delete) then delete them there. You can then go back to the revisions you want to keep (which will still be deleted at the original target (i.e., Jimmy Wales) and undelete them without having to click 1700 checkboxes. Unfortunately, when you do a move like that, it takes the talk page with, and I forgot to move it back in the heat of the vandal fight. I don't think that calling Rapid FC Rapid Bucureşti is a good idea. The most important visitors, from my POV, are the supporters coming from various European countries. They call Bucharest as they read it on UEFA.com, or Eurosport, or globscore.com, or livescore.com - that's Bucharest, not Bucureşti. The FC particle used to be AFC (there are a handful of links still for AFC) and UFC, and it is changing each 3-4 years, when Copos wants to erase club's debt. I would suggest calling the page Rapid Bucharest' instead of FC Rapid Bucureşti. If you think it's OK, I'll fix all the links, but I needed a formal approval and support. I have seen a movement towards deleting the Hungarian names of the Moldavian town. While I don't care/know about what happens with Piatra Neamt etc., I'd say that early Catholicism is very important in the history of the towns from Siret Valley. If you remove Catholicism, be it Hungarian, German, or Italian, from Roman history, it remains close to nothing.
Then it's the issue of the Hungarian speaking minority living on the Siret Valley. I hope nobody will say that the Hungarian name for Roman is irrelevant, as long as hundreds of Hungarians are living in a range of 10 km, like in the village of Secuieni. It is like pretending that my name is not Hungarian.
On the other I hand, I would have to lookup, but I suppose there was / is some Hungarian minority even in Tirgu Neamt / Piatra Neamt, towns where you removed the Hungarian name.-- Luci_Sandor ( talk, contribs) 14:38, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
