Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We as a community are glad to have you and thank you for creating a user account! Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Yes some of the links appear a bit boring at first, but they are VERY helpful if you ever take the time to read them.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes ( Redwolf24 07:49, 10 July 2005 (UTC)) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes ( Redwolf24) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome.
Redwolf24 07:49, 10 July 2005 (UTC)
P.S. I like messages :-P
Welcome! (We can't say that loud/big enough!)
Here are a few links you might find helpful:
If you have any questions or problems, no matter what they are, leave me a message on my talk page.
We're so glad you're here! -- Essjay · Talk 07:54, July 10, 2005 (UTC)
Gah! Why are so many people welcoming me all of a sudden? Did I screw up an edit somewhere? >.> AySz88 08:03, July 10, 2005 (UTC)
NO! There's a welcoming committee here, and if your talk page looks empty, you're liable to get a welcome. (Also, I was watching realtime Recent Changes and saw RedWolf's welcome, so I dropped by to leave my own.) You haven't done anything wrong, we just want you to know you're welcome here! -- Essjay · Talk 08:04, July 10, 2005 (UTC)
All right :) Thanks for the links and offers to help! AySz88 08:06, July 10, 2005 (UTC)
You're welcome (in the other sense of "welcome), and sorry we sacred you! -- Essjay · Talk 08:07, July 10, 2005 (UTC)
I'm hoping someone's watching the recent changes. Someone seems to have added several pages to my watchlist somehow, such as Ice Cream Truck - can someone please tell me how to log out any other computers that might be logged into this username? AySz88 21:15, July 21, 2005 (UTC)
Heh, never mind! It was because Neopets got vandalized. AySz88 21:19, July 21, 2005 (UTC)
Hi there, Thanks for correcting my part on the dæmons article. I wasn't sure whether that was the case (I had heard so), and so because I had no source to back it up, I did not write it in. I'm a big fan of HDM, and I've done a lot of things to do with dæmons, although it's Okibi of TDP you want to ask about them. However because so much is speculation (as Pullman hasn't said a lot about them himself in the books), it doesn't really fit in Wikipedia, which is a shame, because it's a deep subject. Are you a fan of Pullman's?
Cheers again, Jalada
You should probably give it more time, as Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Style issues is not very active. There are also alternative solutions, such as asking for the opinion of editors you respect. This sort of discussion generally does not require input from more than a few people for consesus to build. Cheers, -- Sn0wflake 01:06, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
The pertaining user was making "funny" articles about (presumably) real persons (in the like ness of: "....Ms. X has big b--bs...", which are considered vandalism and had consequently to be speedy deleted (that's why they don't show up in the contributions). Happy editing. Lectonar 08:41, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
Hey - I'm not sure if this is the right mechanism to ask this - but I got a note from you saying I shouldn't revert the 2005 hurricane article again. I noted the request and complied with it. Now I've had another note from someone else saying that I'm being blocked for violating the rule, which I don't believe I've done. What's going on here?
It's been clarified. :) -- Holderca1 04:04, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
Right now the AfD is still on-going. It'd make some comments on the AfD look ridiculous if this was done now. It can still be done later. NSLE ( 讨论) \< extra> 06:32, 13 November 2005 (UTC)
Well done with the buttons. I think the only complaint others will have is the size of the bar. I wonder if there is a way to create a transparent div or table cel such that when floating over it it always displays the tool tip. Yet that may interfere with the link. Eitherway, I will be back in about a month. -- Ctrl build talk 15px| 15:00, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

Hello,
I made some edits to the Venn diagrams page, and you then had to mend some language things - was this because I damaged them somehow? The (chinese?) characters show up as question marks in my browser, so I'm worried that my edits might be corrupting things my browser can't handle.
I'd like to edit the Venn page some more, but will hold off until you reply. Thanks, Squiddy 10:17, 19 November 2005 (UTC) ( talk)
Okay, the storms section gives good overview of all the storms of the season. Having something like this is called 'discussing in detail'. People read about Dennis, Emily, Katrina, Ophelia, Rita, Stan, Vince, Wilma and Alpha in the season summery. Then they say, "What about the 15 other storms of the season. Weren't there 24?" Without the storms section, the article seems incomplete. Discussing every storm in detail tells you everything you could possibly want to know about the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season. It leaves no lingering questions. Does that make sense? -- Hurricane Eric - my dropsonde - archive 23:08, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

You asked me to change my signature to {{subst: Template:User:Super-Magician/Signature}}; however, that template has another link to my other template, {{ Template:User:Super-Magician/Signature_full}}. I understand that doing so reduces the load on the Wikimedia servers, but if you look at the "Signature full" template, you'll see that it is (almost) a copy of {{ Template:User2}}. There is a lot of text in this template, and I don't want to clutter up the editing box with all of this stuff. -- Super-Magician ( talk • contribs • count) ★ 16:34, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

To be honest, that is what I would like too, just to keep them that way, eliminating the categories (which leaves the Whatlinkshere method of watching who has transcluded them), and just punishing those who abuse the system. Just that over the last few days, my confidence in our policing/dispute resolution process has been shaken considerably, so I'm not completely sure that throwing more subjectivity to the issue will work. That said, I would strongly endorse what you propose.
By the way, thanks for the kind comments on my talk page. :) I'm not going to leave permanently, but I'm going to be just coming here every now and then until the stress from this situation goes away completely. Why do you subst:clear in the 2005 AHS? Seems to me it's a lot more readible and, well, cleaner in the template form. And yes I'm aware of so-called technical issues with heavily-used templates. Jdorje 04:09, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Hello, AySz88. Since you are an advanced Java programmer, you might be interested in the Flcelloguy's Tool program. We've been working on it for quite a while now, and since we're in the Atlantic "off-season" (if Alberto doesn't play us a joke), you might have the time to help us. I've been trying to code it, but I'm not a Java programmer, I'm a "native" QBasic coder, and I'm trying to see if I can find other users who want to help or have any suggestions as to what to do. Tito xd( ?!? - help us) 23:44, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
Hello, I'm being nosy again. :) That's great news that you might be able to get the tool to fetch pages itself. Once you get this working, perhaps it's not much more difficult to also fetch the Special:Export page as described here, and thus move the script towards working on non-English servers? I mention this again, because there are wikipedia sites (ko is one, I think) that don't have their databases replicated to the toolserver, and thus users on those sites aren't able to do any sort of automated edit-counting. -- Interiot 19:29, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
I meant that I felt you were acting imperiously in handling matters relating to the removal of the storms secton. You, among others, seemed to have a complete disregard for other people's objections to the change. Also, you seem to be very willing to revert anyone who tries to make big changes that you disagree with without discussing it first. That's just my perception. I used "imperious" mainly for lack of a better word. -- § Hurricane ERIC § archive -- my dropsonde 05:50, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Source info for the Star Tiger Disappearance (which I'm considering making into a full article and linking) in Bermuda Triangle given in the Discussion section of the article. -- Chr.K. 16:46, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
Copied from my talk page:
I removed the links to the NHC archives because the ultimate goal is to use only storm reports (and HPC archives) as references. Directing people to the NHC archives is unhelpful as it forces the reader to sift through the NHC's archive for information. This can't be helped with the HPC, but it can be helped for the NHC. Right now many storms are unreferenced, but they'll all be referenced by about March. - Cuivienen 02:09, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Ah, midterms. I know, those are horrible (I'm just restarting school, but my courseload is heavier this semester than last), and don't worry about it, school comes before any other obligation.
As for Eric's comment. Well, I think it comes from honest frustation of having developed a system after hard work, and to see it modified, criticized and sometimes discarded completely (like we did with the storm color pallette). He offers comments on being better at compromising; regardless of what we've done in the past, that is always good advice. So, while you shouldn't be worried about whether you did things in a bad manner (which you didn't), you can also try to keep improving, by making an effort to understand where other users come from. Argh, I've been stuck several days on PurgeContribs.java... try running 5000 of my contribs in, and you'll see that it dies when it tries to process one diff in my sandbox (which you can see here). <strong> (top)</strong>
) appears after the edit summary, so the tokenizer could not be discarded... but then, we could process it beforehand, by using String.contains("<strong> (top)</strong>"). So, I'll try to have a hack at it later, when I finish having lunch. Thanks!

Once you are satisfied with the page, you may post your nomination for discussion, or request that your nominator do so. |
Let me first say that I am a retired chemical engineer and I just got started in the Wiki world a few weeks ago in one of the WikiCities at
http://atmosphericdispersion.wikicities.com/wiki/Main_Page. In posting some technical articles there, I learned how to use their version of the math markup language. Here is an example mathematical formula developed with their math markup language:
.
Then I moved here to the Wikipedia where I learned how to use the version of the math markup language available here and this is the same equation using the Wikipedia math markup:
In my opinion, the math markup language version available at the WikiCities is remarkably smaller and more tidy than the math markup version available here at the Wikipedia. Being smaller and tidier, it allows for longer formulas without having to "wrap" them or break them into two parts.
I would like to suggest that the proper people at Wikipedia consider making the WikiCities version also available here ... not necessarily to replace what is available here, but to offer the WikiCities version as an alternative option.
As new as I am to all this, I don't know who to contact or where to make this suggestion. Can you help me?
Thanks in advance. mbeychok 04:16, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

I'd like your thoughts on a brainstorm I've tried to articulate here: User:Leifern/Adminwatch idea. And feel free to spread the word. -- Leifern 16:48, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

well umm...I don't pay attention to things, heh. I'm a forgetful lil foxie for one..and well...stuff ^^;. Thanks though for the help ^_^. And thanks for pointing out the dead link.
I left a comment to him cuz I looked here and didn't see my topic thingy, so...just assumed it was misplaced or something. I d'no. Luca Sunday, March 5 1:03 PM (EST)
If you feel the charts should be removed from the poll you should remove them. Right now the only people that have weighed in on it are me, you and gmaxwell, and he keeps adding more and more arbitrary facts. If you remove it he will be forced to wait for another user to agree that they should be in there since we are both 3rr'ed out. It will force discussion. Seraphim 00:14, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for your help, and I was wondering if I may have a little more. I tried to make a talk page, but everything went in a big pink box and all the words spill out and go WAY off the page. Thank you,
~SD
Thanks for responding to the user for me; I think they were trying to contact User:Mahlum and somehow got me instead. Essjay Talk • Contact 10:56, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
That was me on my Userpage. I apologize if I appeared to be vandalizing myself (not that you knew it was me). I didn't want to clog "my contributions" with unneeded 'contributions', but as "my contributions" can apparently not be clogged, I'll go ahead and log on every time I want to edit my Userpage.

It wouldn't qualify for a block, but it would certainly warrant a talk on their page. However, I've warned him on the talk page already, and I'm fairly sure he reads it, so he's been warned now... Tito xd( ?!? - help us) 04:42, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
Just a small question, but I was wondering if it is possible to overfill one's userpage with information. Hopefully, the answer is no, but I just want to be sure. KND Expert Numbuh ??? 07:17, 1 April 2006
I see you make lots of edits to Neopets. I have made a proposition with the links. Care to have a look at it and tell me what you think? J.J.Sagnella 06:59, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
Nah, the MediaWiki parser can handle some pipes, it's the table pipes that bother it (and I went with HTML so there's no table markup except the stuff that starts/ends the table). Turned out I had the logic backwards. Which sucks because I read over it once, thought I understood it, but figured it was being tricky so went about it another way; it seems my first thoughts were correct and I should have gone with those. At least, I think it looks correct now. =) I haven't found any pages which use the "piconly" (or "onlypic" or something) parameter. :| Now to wait for the hate mail to roll in if it did break. :( — Locke Cole • t • c 07:58, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi! A while ago, it appears that you blocked 69.74.63.194, the computer network of Syosset High School, indicating in the block summary that you would like the system administrator to contact you. However, there aren't any details in that summary, so could you please clarify what you would like the administrator to do? Thank you!
Happy editing,

That's not the issue, but thanks for the suggestion. What happens is that the image does not load correctly in Firefox (it looks like a giant field of static and incorrect pixels), however it loads fine in IE. I'm sure it just has something to do with my browser settings, just not sure which. -- tomf688{ talk} 11:42, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Well, Interiot's tool is effectively broken now, but I can't spend much time on Wiki for the next week, so could you take care of making sure Flcelloguy's tool is ready for heavy usage? There was a little change to the Special:Contributions page output, but I really don't have time to fix it. Tito xd( ?!? - help us) 02:11, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know! I think that both Interiot and Lar have offered hosting and filespace in the past from a scan of the talk page; you may wish to check with them and see if an arrangement is possible. Thanks again! Flcelloguy ( A note?) 00:03, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for your input into the discussion at Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/2006_February_5#Template:User_paedophile. It is unfortunate that this template was deleted with neither a good reason nor a clear consensus. I believe that by using language that lacks the criminal/abusive connotations, we can satisfy the concerns of the delete voters and create useful, less controversial userboxes. So I created Template:User boylover and Template:User girllover last night.
Unfortunately, Doc glasgow speedy deleted these templates, citing T1. T1 did not apply, and you can tell him so. Your vote at Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Userbox_debates#Template:User_boylover_and_Template:User_girllover will be much appreciated. Seahen 15:27, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
By the way, there's a 'daemian' user box now. It's on my page. I'm a fellow red fox daemian from the forums. Monkey&Bell 19:31, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
