Collier's Junior Classics is another installment by The Crowell-Collier Publishing Company. Collier's Junior Classics is a collection of ten indexed volumes each with their own title, and a selection of outstanding children's stories and poems compiled for enrichment reading by a distinguished editorial board of children's librarians. Overview

In each of the books there is an Introduction for the Collier Junior Classics Series by the series editor Margaret E. Martignoni. The introduction briefly states that; being a child is the most important time in ones life, everything a child sees or hears is on a learning basis and what is gained will forever stay with them. A child deserves what Walter de la Mare has called "only the rarest kind of best." [1] The editors took a great deal of time and effort to assemble the best children's books of the past and present for all genders. The goal of these books is to excite the young reader's imaginations, introduce boys and girls to some of the best books ever written for children, and encourage children to become discriminating, thoughtful, life-time readers [1]. Martignoni gives a quick mention to some of the authors and illustrators involved in this series, and how Collier's Junior Classics is intended for the home, but can be found in libraries.
