Hi, my name is Tim Foley and I am an author who has written adult and children's biographies about Tom Crean, the Irish Explorer. I have been a student of Crean's life and career for many years and since 2010 I have operated a campaign for state recognition from his country of birth. This goal was achieved on January 31st 2021, when a scientific vessel was named in his honour, (RV Tom Crean), through the efforts of a signatory to a petition calling for 'Ireland to honour Tom Crean' which I had created in 2016. In March 2021, the biography I wrote about him, "Crean - The Extraordinary Life of an Irish Hero", bought about official revisions to the entry for Crean in the Dictionary of Irish Biography and substantial changes are now reflected by the Wikipedia biography of Crean.

I like to champion the stories of the unheralded heroes whose stories never made it into the history books and I am working on two such projects that will I hope, see their stories made available to those visiting Wikipedia. Firstly I have to get to grips with the style and editing tools required to make for a good Wikipedia page - any assistance from experienced editors would be most welcome.
