Son Chae-young (born April 23, 1999), professionally known by the mononym Chaeyoung, is a Korean singer based in South Korea and a member of the K-pop girl group Twice, under JYP Entertainment.
Although there are plenty of talented young idols in the industry, TWICE‘s Chaeyoung has stood out to many fans and experts for her wide variety of talents. She can even make Park Jin Young feel the dance bug with her cover of his hit song “Honey.”
Chaeyoung is TWICE’s main rapper and co-maknae along with fellow 99-line member Tzuyu, but she also excels at singing, drawing, and lyric-writing as well. With such a wide range of skills, Chaeyoung has been praised for being the complete package, which allowed her to excel during the group’s pre-debut survival show SIXTEEN.
Son Chae-young was born in Dunchon-dong, South Korea, on April 23, When in sixth grade, Chaeyoung had some dancing lesson for a year. In June 6, 2012 she auditioned and entered JYP Entertainment at age of 13.
Apart from her parents, Chaeyoung has a younger brother who is very supportive of her.
Chaeyoung is currently a student at the Hanlim Multi Art School and majoring in practical music.
Chaeyoung was featured in “Stop Stop” by Got7 and “Only You” by Miss A prior to her debut in sixteen.
She made her career debut with Twice in 2015, with the EP “ The Story Begins”.
In 2016, the group released the singles “Touch Down”, “I’m Gonna Be a Star” and “Cheer Up”. Their popularity still is rising. They are even making their Japan debut on June 2017.
