I plan on keeping on working on wrestling articles, just keeping my own "to do" list etc, I'll let you know if I need a hand- and likewise, I've been a fan since 1989 so I got a lot of knowledge & history stashed away in my noggin' so if there are any of your articles you think I might be able to contribute to feel free to leave a list here and I'll give them a look. Most of my wrestling contributions are listed on my user page, a lot of the earliest being independent wrestlers although I've recently been working on regional and international wrestlers as well. Personally speaking, it does seem to be stressful to cite even trivial details. It doesn't exactly encourage editors to put a lot of work into an article when content can be removed at any time. Maryland Championship Wrestling

Would you happen to know any reliable sources for Maryland Championship Wrestling's championship titles ? They've all been nominated for deletion recently and, while I've provided reference to Gary Will's "Wrestling Title Histories" as well as Solie's Title Histories and Puroresu Dojo, I was hoping to back up the individual results at prowrestilnghistory.com with no luck. Also I've been working on Billy Firehawk and I was curious if you knew any references for his career in IWCCW or ECW ? I know he competed as Fabulous Firehawk in both promotions and remained with ECW until late 1994, although I've no references to back it up. • Just found a source for the McEwen/Odayko controversey, a column by the Washington Post. Nothing on the Shane Shamrock tournament yet, unfortunatly. The last reference was great, thanks. I had idea of trying to compare attendence results between the Shane Shamrock Cup and the Super 8 Tournament and other independent events. The attendance of the final Shane Shamrock Cup in 2003 was over 1,000 according to 1wrestling.com [1] while the Wrestling Information Archive [2] claims an attendance of 450 for the Super 8 Tournament in 2005 and The Wrestilng Clothesline [3] states 600 in 2007 (although the latter two, I believe, are generally not considered reliable sources). It its any help, Main Event: WWE in the 1980s (pg. 139) states:

In 1987, Martel returned to the World Wrestling Federation as part of the popular short lived duo the Can-Am Connection. Soon after their WrestleMania III victory over "Magnificent" Don Muraco & "Cowboy" Bob Orton. Martel's partner vanished after a prematch attack from the Hart Foundation.

As the article states Zenk left after the team last wrestled the Islanders in June, I wasn't sure how to reference it in the article. MadMax 03:52, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Ana Rocha

I've been doing some work on Ana Rocha, specifically providing sources to remove the deletion proposal of the article, and I found what seems to be her IMDb.com profile Ana Rocha at IMDb. However, if you'll note her official web page and this IMDb.com profile, the two seem drasticly contradictory although there are enough gaps in her filmography that she could have made these guest appearances. While I'm not sure how familiar you are in regards to the New England independent circuit, do you think there's anyway to verify any of this ? MadMax 07:37, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Blanking/Deletion

I noticed recently, a few editors have blanked articles (presumably due to WP:BLP) and then added a {{prod}} or by another user soon after, such as Team Madness. Should the blanked text be restored, and if so, should the {{prod}} tag be removed ? I only ask as there's a good chance the article will be nominated regardless of the changes made. Big Mouth Loud

To be honest that's an article I'd recommend keeping, although it would need the help of a Japanese speaker to fix it up. sporsnavi covers all the Japanese promotions, and a site search returns plenty of results. One Night In Hackney ₃₀₃ 09:00, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

I'll de-prod it, and try and find someone who can translate and/or find other sources. Although BML ran shows on a sporadic basis (and none since mid-2006) they generally had good attendances at Korakuen Hall (1500+) and they were on ESPN-J as well. There's a couple of possibilities for sourcing that I found straight away. The Japanese wiki version has plenty of information as well. Sportsnavi tend to do pretty in-depth coverage of news, for example they had this for the press conference for the launch of the GPWA. I can think of plenty of American promotions that we have articles on that are far less notable in America than BML are in Japan, so it makes sense to try and do something to save it. As far as im aware, policy allows for unsourced info to be removed at any time from bios of living people, and if wikipedia is going to be a trusted source for info then the stuff in the article must correspond to the sources. The majority of the time, info I removed is controversial. there should be no problem if we add sources to the articles to back up the info. With regards to sourcing TV

I've tried something at Hell in a Cell which may be a way to source PPV matches, and I may be able to format it for TV episodes (essentially we would have to agree on RAW and SD!'s first "Season" and then each episode would be 1-52), I'll work on something and get back to you. Shag Thomas

I see you prodded the Shad Thomas article. Shag Thomas is a VERY NOTABLE wrestler from the 1950s & 1960s. He was a black wrestler during the days when most blacks would not get a fair shake in many organizations. There are two references listed for the article, which in my opinion, more than establish the notability of a wrestler from that far back. It is much more difficult to find reliable sources on info for wrestlers from that time. Even under the WP:N (which is not listed as a reason to delete an article under the deletion criteria...probably because it is only a guideline), it says that if notability could have been established some time in the past that notability continues on even if it is more difficult to prove at a later date. I mentioned it on the pro-wrestling talk page, but I think we need to give a little bit of leeway on the biographies of wrestlers from the pre-1980s (and probably more so the further one goes back). Regardsing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Glen Osbourne. I have updated the article, infobox and a few citations. The article should pass WP:BIO Athlete now. However it's still pretty poor on citation. Still depends on what you want to vote on it. Hi. I started to do some copyediting on the Bobby Eaton article, but I stopped when I got into more of the wrestling lingo. I don't follow wrestling at all, so I wasn't sure if the wording was correct or if it needed a good polishing. I started to go through the article, but got stuck. First I made some minor edits, but more troublesome was "Eaton was instrumental in running the duo off or at least that was the story given to the fans, in reality the Blondes signed with a different promotion. ^[1]" from the section Wrestling career, end of second paragraph. I was trying to re-word the sentence to show a more encyclopedic variation and was looking for the info in the original source, but the source cited does not discuss running the Blondes off. As you are more familiar with the article/sources, is this perhaps in a different source? If so, here is more of what the sentence should look like: The Blondes then signed with a different promotion company, and Eaton was given a storyline where he was responsible for the Blondes leaving the region. Basically, articles should be like dry toast, rather boring prose and just the facts. The facts themselves can be entertaining and intriguing, but the reader needs to be left to decide that.

Other items: I would suggest taking a day off from the article, then come back and give it a thorough read through. This way simple mistakes like "In the end Bobby Eaton conclusively Chris Colt and thus earned..." from the section Coming of age can be caught (I'm guessing beat/defeated is needed after conclusively). In that same section spell out Memphis, Tennessee. At the beginning of that section: "making it look like Eaton had been seriously injured (in reality he was unharmed by the moved)." would be better as "making it appear Eaton had been seriously injured, though Eaton was not injured by the move. Same paragraph has he’d in it. Also "&" ampersands generally should not be used, but if used then used consistently. For instance when mentioning a tag team in () then always use & inside the (). But you can't then use them outside when refering to them in the paragraphs as the rest of the aricle uses and, so unless every "and" becomes a & (and I mean every single one) then it is not consistent. Thus it is best not to use it unless it is part of a formal name (see Tiffany & Co. for an example). I hope that makes sense.

Otherwise the article has been toned down, but examples continue: Eaton’s most successful parternership in the CWA was without a doubt with Sweet Brown Sugar (Koko B. Ware), the two... Where without a doubt becomes a value judgment. Instead just give the fact that this partnership produced X titles, compared to X titles with other parterships. This way the reader makes the judgment as to how successful each partnership was. Again, remember what the paper encylopedia entries looked like back in school (rather dry); basically more Bill Gates like, less Vince McMahon like. More like PBS, less like FOX.

On Friday I'll check back in and read the article. If it is GA quality at that point I'll pass it, if not I'll fail it. If it fails, I'll leave extensive notes on what needs to be improved. Once those are done, then just re-nominate. On the plus side, like I said this has plenty of depth, so once it passes GA it should have an easy time being brought up to FA. Aboutmovies

But the article has come a long way since the nomination and I commend you for the work. Address those few items left and then you can re-nominate. Can You Help Me?

Hi MPJ-DK, I know you are aware of the dispute that went on about the Iconoclasm, and XiBalba on Aerial Techniques. After the long ridiculous debate, I renamed the move a Top Rope Flipping Slam and catagorized three moves underneath it in alphabetical order to be fair (Fall From Grace, Iconoclasm, and XiBalba). I re-wrote it all to ensure wikibility, and I referenced the moves (which might I add almost nothing is references on many of these pages). The account Timber99 was created right after I made the original change on the other page, and has made no other edits except to fight about this move or complain about myself or another user! Now all of a sudden, User:Lid is pulling a similar stunt where I moved everything as you suggested(Professional Wrestling Throws). My references are a story written on the wrestler from Wrestling Then & Now magazine, as well as an interview with the wrestler Brimstone. The ONLY references for the Iconoclasm are fan sites! There are no references that show this move as created by the wrestler CIMA. A lot of things concern me with this whole situation, from users to lack of proper referencing. On wiki, the claim with proper citation should stand, not an unreferenced piece of work or a poorly referenced work. Regardless, I need help. If this can not be resolved, then the whole move should come off until more referencing can be found. Now all of a sudden, Timber99 is responding to my plea to User:Spartaz. I am feeling as though something is going on here, and I am not going to accuse... however people can put two and two together WrestlefnLI 13:51, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

my editing style

hey, i know you read my proposed changes to the CM Punk article, and you already know I don't think too highly of it. As far as original research and the whole weasel/peacock words debate goes, I'm at a loss. I really don't know much about the entire laws and boudaries about that, but I can't stand to see how dull and unreadable the articles become otherwise. I mean, think about it; you can google and find all the wrestling events that a wrestler has been in during their career and if you write them in chronological order, along with attention to when they switched promotions or characters, and you make a FA? I don't think so. I don't think wikipedia should be a text dump, and I think articles should be edited with some deep, knowledgeable understanding.

the book refs section

I couldn't help but notice a new page dedicated to contacting users who have book references handy on wrestling facts. I'm just wondering about WrestleCrap. What exactly is it all about? I'm just wondering if there is anything really useful in there, like, what weakness does WWE have as far as appealing to the fans? Or is there is any background info on storylines? Is there any info to the backstage politics of the industry? Like, who makes the creative decisions? I'm wondering, because it looks like a book I'd like to read, and I also would like to know if you got anything useful from it.

Oh, and regarding the Randy Orton article, I realize that I did use peacock words and made some statements that are somewhat opinionated. yeah, you've got me thinking more about it now. I'm wondering, because in writing about wrestling's history, I wanted to get through to people who might not be familiar with what it is all about how wrestling has changed, and how it is based on creative storylines. The ideas of Crash TV and WWE Attitude and family-oriented characters are easy to understand for someone who watches wrestling, but for the average joe who might read the article, I'm thinking that I should write something to give people perspective on how the product changed, became stale, raunchy, or violent during its history, because not too many people are familiar with the changes that made it what it is.-- Screwball23 talk 19:51, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Stu Hart

Okay, first of all I'm sorry for all the wrong things that I may have put on the page.I put a discussion on the Hart wrestling family page about just including all the information on that page on Stu's page since he is the patriarch.I don't believe that the Harts need a whole separate page when all the information was originally on his page to begin with.We do not need another whole page for them unless you have a really goood reason to have a separate page since most of the Harts aren't as notable as Bret or Owen.I would've deleted the page for nonsense because all you did was put the family tree that was on Stu's page on the Hart Wrestling family page which I thought was stupid.And I am calm, okay and I don't have any problem except I don't see the real need for this page since there's not any new information about the family or anything.But if you have a good reason to have the page, let me hear it, please.( MgTurtle 17:07, 11 August 2007 (UTC)).

There's still nothing new to the page.I put the family and the family tree back on Stu's page (where it origianlly was) but I kept it on the Hart wrestling family and I nominated it for deletion.I know that the Hart family didn't stop when Stu passed or when Helen passed but there's no true reason to have a whole another page since the active Hart family members have their own page.I still don't see a good reason to keep the family and the family tree off of Stu hart's page since it does mention the his greatest accomplishment in life was his family.( MgTurtle 17:40, 11 August 2007 (UTC)).

What the hell are you telling this user? This user came to my talk page about what kind of sources are supposed to be used and which ones are not and I discovered you're "blatant vandalism warning" to him. No thats not blatant vandalism, and you shouldn't confuse someone whose intent is to harm Wikipedia with someone who is editing with good faith. Yes, book sources are more reliable than fan sites like OWW, but reverting as vandalism when it's not vandalism, is not looked good upon, and users have been blocked for abusing edit summaries no less.

And Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#www.onlineworldofwrestling.com actually doesn't make it out to be unreliable, just not to be used as a sole references for an entire article. It's not being blacklisted, it's reliable, and the problem of it being used as a sole references in an article is being fixed by WP:PW. No it's not as reliable as the book source, but pointing that out should have been handled better than "I'm giving you a blatant vandalism warning" type messages, thats not blatant vandalism, any which way you look at it. If he blunders, you are expected to conduct yourself in a civil manner and not resort to misusing vandalism tags that don't apply. OWW is a tertiary source, being a tertiary source doesn't automatically make it unreliable. There are many several instances on OWW that are reliable, and rarely anything on there is untrue. I told this editor to use better sources than OWW, and whenever a better source is available, to use it. There is no consensus to state it is unrelaible at the discussion you linked and there sure as hell no consensus to blacklist it. There was no attack upon you, confronting you about your conduct towards editors is perfectly allowed on Wikipedia. And FYI WP:ILIKEIT doesn't apply to discussions about sourcing, it refers to XFD discussions. — Moe ε 21:25, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Steriods Conversation

Thanks for jumping in there and saving everyone. It was getting a bit heated and I was getting concerned that I was participating in such a conversation and furthering it along, but I kept going because I really wanted to make sure the Wikipedia polices were understood. I've been on Moe's side of the same type of conversation before and its not exactly fun, however the experience caused me to delve into Wikipedia policy a lot more so that I'd know (most of the time anyway) what I was talking about. While I've come a long way as far as understanding Wikipedia, I still have a ways to go as far as "knowing when to quit" and I freely admit that. Library

I noticed you removed all of your entries from the WP:PW library as your no-longer connected with WP:PW. However, wouldn't it of been best if you kept your book on there in case any member of the project needs to contact you for a particular detail of Jerry Lawler which is set to be the COTW next week. Without your details on there, we wouldn't know who had particular books, and therefore we wouldn't be able to get info we needed. Although its obviously your choice (and I respect whatever decision you make), I strongly suggest you reinsert the details on your books and VHS' back onto the page. Al Costello

I had a chance to go through the article today. It's looking really good. I made a few very small changes. I had a couple of thoughts, though.

• It would be nice to have an internal link to List of NWA territories, as the article refers to a few territories that don't have articles. Perhaps one of the times you refer to a territory on the list (NWA Detroit, NWA Western States, etc.).
• At the end, you mention that Al Snow focused on his WWF career. You haven't stated what the WWF is by that point, though. You mention Capitol Wrestling, the WWWF, and WWE, but not WWF. Perhaps another internal link (it could go to the WWE article, which would inform the reader about what the WWF is/was).

I've gone through the first few sections of this article, and I have a few comments:

It's hard to tell if the references apply to entire paragraphs or just the final sentence. Does reference #2 discuss Kent's high school, the Red Sox's interest and working at the VAMC, or just the VAMC part? And am I correct in assuming that it should say "Kent worked at a Veterans Administration Medical Center" instead of "as"?

I made it through the article (it's been a busy weekend), and I have a couple more questions:

In the "Kangaroo return" section, it says that Kent was replaced with "Johnny Heffernan". The article seems to indicate that it was actually Bekkar who was replaced by Heffernan.

It also says that Kent and Costello took Dillon's side against Costello. I'm assuming that it was actually Kent and Heffernan.

The section that I am confused about is the final sentence in the "Working alone" paragraph: "Shortly after losing the Caribbean title, Kent moved up a level and defeated Puerto Rican legend Carlos Colón on August 3, 1979 only to lose the title to Invader I three weeks later in Ponce, Puerto Rico."

This takes place after he lost the Caribbean title, so what title did he lose to Invader I? Did Kent win it from Colon? I believe you're referring to the WWC North American Heavyweight Championship, but this isn't actually stated in the article. GaryColemanFan 21:45, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

King of the Ring (1994)

Thanks for your comments on this article. There doesn't seem to be a consensus on Wikipedia about references in the lead. I was told that they weren't necessary, so I left them out. During the Peer Review, I was told to add them. In the GA Review, I was told that they should come out. I'll look into what the actual standards are and work on that if necessary. As for the "in universe" comments, you're probably right. I've wikilinked several phrases that make it clear that wrestling is scripted, but it could probably use more clarification. I don't want to overdo it, as I'd rather have it be a B-level article than fill it with "He was booked to win the match. After that, he was booked to lose the title the next night. Soon after, he was booked to regain it..." I've got a really busy week coming up, but I'll do what I can to continue improving the article. Wrestling Title Histories book

Hi, I saw that you own this book and I was wondering if you could help with something. I've been looking for references for the WWF Intercontinental Tag Team Championship article, but I haven't been able to find anything online. I was wondering if it's in your book. I'd like to reference the fact that the titles were awarded to Hamada and Aguayo as well as the reason for the title being abandoned.
