Introduction

MODO Eyewear is an eyewear company based in New York City that designs, produces and distributes prescription frames and sunglasses. Its portfolio includes several licensed brands in addition to its house brands. Modo’s products are primarily manufactured in Japan and are marketed in optical boutiques, specialty and department stores in over 50 countries worldwide.

History

  • 1990: Alessandro Lanaro creates his own brands Modo, M+ and Saki with office in Soho, New York
  • 1992: Global Expansion to Europe and Asia
  • 2003: Modo signs License Agreement with Baby Phat and Phat Farm
  • 2006: Modo signs License Agreement with Derek Lam
  • 2006: Modo moves its Distribution center to Ohio
  • 2007: Joint Venture with Fabien Baron
  • 2007: License Agreement with 3.1 phillip lim
  • 2007: License Agreement with Tretorn
  • 2007: European sales and distribution office is established in Milan, Italy
  • 2008: Partnership with NetJets
  • 2008: Launch of first ecommerce website www.modo.com < http://www.modo.com/> and www.modoshop.com
  • 2008: First Modo Boutique opens in Nolita, New York
  • 2009: Modo adds Sports brands such as NFL and US Open to its portfolio
  • 2009: License Agreement with 7 For All Mankind
  • 2009: Launch of Eco (Earth Concious Optics), the first and only validated eyewear collection made of a at least 95% recycled materials.
  • 2009: Launch of www.eco-optics.com
  • 2009: Partnership with Trees For the Future and UL Environment
  • 2009: Collaboration with Jason Wu
  • 2010: Member of 1% for the Planet
  • 2010: FastCompany.com names Eco "the greenest glasses on the planet"
  • 2011: Partnership with model and environmentalist Summer Rayne Oakes as Eco's Brand Ambassador
