Eva Carita Paradis is a professor of English Linguistics at the University of Lund, Sweden. She received her doctorate from Lund University in 1997 when she presented her thesis Degree modifiers of adjectives in spoken British English. Paradis' research is based in the framework of Cognitive Linguistics and centres on meaning in the broad sense.

Paradis is also Member of the Scientific Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences and Chair of Linguistics at the Swedish Research Council as well as a member of IAUPE [1].
