From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have given up on Wikipedia. It seemed to work for a while, but it is inexorably becoming a set of enclaves for interest groups who vigorously protect "their" pages against any information which is inconvenient. This decay is still in its early stages but is inescapable, as shown by the breakdown of the mediation system. Originally I enjoyed just copyediting pages, but my experience with the Boy Scout clique, who are dedicated to keeping any trace of suggestion that the Boy Scouts are wonderful and uncontroversial, and the long wait without any mediation response (there appear to be only five active mediators for all of Wikipedia) has convinced me that it's useless.

I still give tremendous credit to Jimbo Wales for standing up to censors and trying to build something great, but "open to all" means "open to the lowest common denominator." It's no longer fun for me.
