'Yoo Jeong-yeon' ( Korean: 유정연; Hanja: 兪 定 延; katakana: ジ ョ ン ヨ ン; born 'Yoo Kyung-wan' November 1 of 1996), [1] better known as 'Jeongyeon' ( Korean: 정연), is a South Korean, singer, dancer and MC. She is a member of the female group Twice formed in 2015 by JYP Entertainment.
Jeongyeon was born in Suwon, South Korea. [2] [3]Her birth name is Yoo Kyung Wan but because she suffered bullying because her name sounded like a boy name, in third grade [4] her name was legally changed to Yoo Jeongjeon. She has two older sisters, one of them the actress Gong Seung-yeon [5] Her father, Yoo Chang-Joon [6] was the private chef of ex-president Kim Dae-Jung, today owner of a restaurant.
She became a JYP Entertainment trainee in March 2010, after winning JYP 6th Audition. [7] Along with Nayeon, Jihyo and Sana, she would originally debut in a group called 6mix. [8] In 2014 she appeared with Nayeon in GOT7 Girls Girls Girls video clip and in 2015 she appeared in the clip of Only You of miss A. She was the presenter of Inkigayo in 2016. [9]
