Shantiram Rai ( Nepali: शान्तिराम राई) is a well known Nepali music composer,singer, academician and writer.He first gained his popularity in the early 1990's for his songs TIMI TARE BHIR DHOKA DIYOU TIMILE ID CARDAILE.He is one of the highly educated musician of Nepal.He is also the Director of Creative World Nepal.

Career

Shantiram Rai was born in Diktel Khotang.He was the youngest son of his family.He was so fascinated by music from his childhood but he couldn't find any GURU to learn the music.So Rai started learning music by listening to it through radio.At the age of 18, he left home and went to Kathmandu for his further higher education and his musical career.His first song PHOOL PHULYO GHAUBESIMA by Shambhu Rai was recorded and broadcast ed by Radio Nepal(1990). He gained his popularity as a musician from his song TIMI TARE BHIR [9] by Pabitra Shubba written by Buddhabir Lama. He has composed several songs throughout his career including Academic songs, Kirat Rai folk songs.He is known for the songs like TIMI TARE BHIR DHOKA DIYOU TIMILE [10] FERI TIMRO YAAD AAYO [11] ID CARDAILE [12].He worked with senior artists like Amber Gurung Gopal Yonjan Phatteman and latest artists Melina Rai Aava Mukarung.
